Scott’s a pretty chill dude, he doesn’t really care about someone making a fnaf project. As long as it’s unique and not just a direct copy of the source material, he will be fine with it. Also, I don’t directly know this person, but there’s this guy named DaRegularSauce who makes amazing Fnaf costumes.

I think the episodes idea is great! It gives you a unique opportunity to check if it's worth your time and effort to make a film's worth of content before being obligated to make an entire movie. But in the end I'll watch anything you put out, and what's most important is that you and the team have fun working on something without being unsure if the time and effort will be worth it. Just have fun with it. I bet a majority of this community will not be angry if you cancel the movie. Do what you think is best.

Tbh i just like the way you guys make things… i’d almost rather have original stories than “fan films,” just because i know you guys would kill both - but i’d rather see something with zero prior knowledge of. I’d love either/or-and I definitely still wanna see the fnaf stuff if you’d like to release it-but i’m even more down for complete original stuff!

I’m surprised at how relatable this was. I’ve only filmed five scenes for my movie that I’m working on back in December of 2022 and have not filmed anything else since. Mainly because me and my friends have work/school.
I’m more optimistic because this’ll be the last of a series that I started five years ago. So I can definitely see how you’d feel that this is ambitious cause this is FNAF with a huge fan base around it.
But at the end of the day, we gotta just have fun with it, because that’s what making movies is about.
    Best of luck my friend.

We kinda had the same thoughts before making "Haunting At Freddy's" but honestly you guys should just do it cause it will probably turn out amazing anyway and theres not much to lose :) trust me, we risked everything for that movie and it still worked out

I get how stressful this can be. Speaking from experience of how over-ambitious a project or idea can become, sometimes it becomes hard to make the right choices or envision what it could actually become. Knowing that OMNAF could take several months to create weighs a lot I could imagine. If there's one thing I learned when going all out, it's perseverance. Never settle if you have the right mindset. Make this the best fan film known to man.

As soon as the FNAF project got announced, I was struck by how ambitious it seemed, especially compared to the small scale of Wimpy Kid Freshman Year. So as soon as updates about the film sort of dried up, I had a feeling this would be the case. Honestly, if you find a way to make the project happen, that’s super cool, but if you don’t, I think most of us would understand. I’m excited to see this original project you guys are cooking up as well, I think that has a lot of potential. I personally would be just as excited about original projects as I would about parodys/fan films. I think even the effort you put into this update video shows the insane amount of talent you guys have. I’m continually blown away by that aspect of the channel. I wish you the best of luck with whatever you end up doing. Whatever it is, I’m sure it’ll be great!

I’m really appreciative of you voicing your concerns to us instead of just making a decision yourself. It is your guys’ decision to make. Whatever that decision is, we will all still support you guys and the channel regardless. Creating a short film is a massive undertaking, and the fact that you guys do it and manage to entertain people is really special. Good luck to you guys and I will support you guys no matter what you guys choose!

  • @DrNaOH
    @DrNaOH Год назад +9

I wasn’t going to comment originally since I knew everyone else would voice my exact thoughts, but then I saw that you listed your recent influences and thought that now I have no choice considering that’s something I would love to do if I were making videos like this (so, thank you)
In truth, I can confidently say that whatever you decide to make, I’ll watch. I won’t lie, I’m not the most avid viewer of this channel, but Freshmen Year was so well put together and the ideas you’ve listed sound so good that I know I would watch anyways.
Take however long you want to settle your priorities. I love the idea of a first episode to test the waters with FNAF, but if you guys want to hold off on that and work on what you filmed in January or work on your personal project, then those also sound great.
TLDR: just make whatever you want, because we’ll 100% watch!
(And as a side note, I’ve been looking into cameras recently since I’d like to film on something other than my phone, and was wondering what you use. If you’ve already answered that question, then I’d love to read a full FAQ. Thank you!!)
Oh, and one more quick addition: I understand why you’d want to go through with FNAF because you promised that it would happen, but we would forgive you if you didn’t want to take the risk. I can personally say I definitely don’t want you stressing about that since you have so many other things to figure out on top of that. So whatever you decide, it’s completely fine!

i'm honestly so glad that you made this video to clarify things LOL and i totally get your reasonings for why you and the guys haven't gotten around to one more night. it makes total sense for you to not want to create something that'll just get a bunch of views, but something that you are completely devoted to and passionate about- that's literally what true genuine filmmaking is all about. it's also so important to remember that in the film industry and just with content creation in general, things get scrapped ALL the time. artists go through so much trial and error every day- it's all a part of the process! as someone who really enjoyed freshman year and all of the behind the scenes stuff and silly vlogs, i just wanna see more stuff from you guys in general- i really don't care what it is LOL- this channel has so much potential and all of the content ya'll put out is seriously so entertaining and makes me so excited for more. so just do what you want to do, we'll love whatever you guys put out

Really connected with this video, truly. I completely get that feeling of guilt, and the pressure of putting this out just because you said you would. I also get the whole fan film vs original thing, and “trapping yourself in a box” if you get what I mean. April last year I released a very personal and fun project called Sidekick that I absolutely adored working on. Since then, I’ve wanted to do a sequel but I get scared that doing so will start a trend of repetitiveness. I want to continue this story and stay with the characters, but I still want to make something new, and fresh. I may not be wording it right, but just understand that I totally get the feeling. Whatever you guys do, I’ll watch and support because I know for a fact that it was made with love and effort. Much love to The Fruit Jar team, hope you guys figure everything out and are happy with your plans for the future 🫶

Honestly it’s easier to put it as episodes than as a full film, as somebody who’s working on their own analog horror series based on fnaf,
And honestly I feel similar in how ya feel in it, though I do personally think that the best thing to do is basically note that, with these fan films, you can build yourself up with being known.
As for the copyright stuff, don’t worry about that, unless your making it to a full dvd thing for the masses. Many of us fnaf fans have made fangames and such and Scott’s ok with it. Same with fanfilms.
So the copyright stuff will be fine unless you use some copyright music then that’d be different
But that’s how I personally see it. If ya wanna cancel it, hey it’s all good, I’m still gonna be watching your videos
But whatever you try in doing, we’ll be there. And I know that with these fanfilms, it can pay off soon enough once you do make your own film.
In conclusion: it’s honestly easier to do it as a series as if I tried making my series a full on movie, it’d take at least two or more years for it.
I do hope the best for you however!

I would love to see that original film because your creativity, your originality That’s what makes your parody films good. A good solution moving forward would be to not release a trailer until the filming is finished. From what I've learned from making music is to release singles of a project as I'm finishing it. That way my fans don't have to wait an eternity to potentially forget about it come time release (if release even happens). as someone who aspires to do something similar to what you're striving for, I say release the passion project first. it obviously means more to you personally, while the fnaf film is more of you wanting to give something to us. and adding on to that it sounds like it likely won't even be able to be finished :(. so basically, this is your guys' channel, release whatever you truly want to see released!

I have thought about this a lot myself, the idea of someone's interests & youtube recommended denying them from even giving your content a watch is honestly quite a hassle, I've probably watched more videos than i like to admit in newgrounds just to follow the creator and watch them for months later on end in platforms like youtube
. I myself have worked on project after project after project thinking if it will even get watched by anybody, and I know it won't, I know that the trend I was trying to do will die down eventually, rotten and forgotten,
it's uninspiring to see a video you saw and put a lot of effort into get trashed just because people didn't know what it was or were just not interested in it. A good example of someone who's somehow managed to find success in it is Neil Cicierega, hope you guys can find a way to pull through and eventually succeed just out of your own original creations & Ideas, hopes up mate.
I will keep watching you guys either way.

After studying film and producing them as well, I understand the daunting task of creating filling editing and then releasing films as I’ve still got one in production from last year in its final edits. But you also have to remember this films are allowed to be a slow burn shooting process even if you leave this fnaf film for a long haul project and you release smaller projects for the time being that would be amazing!
Just don’t burn yourself out and loose your passions trying to compensate for other peoples needs.

I think you should go with the episodic format for FNAF. Just make the first episode to see if it does well. And if it gets a lot of views like Wimpy Kid did, it’ll increase your audience and they’ll go and watch your all-original project (which you can release after FNAF) that wouldn’t get as much reach otherwise if it was released first. Hope that makes sense! :)

I feel like the basis of this channel is "guys just making stuff because they love to do it" and if the FNAF project is putting pressure on you all and making you feel obligated to do it then you're not really doing it because you love it, you're doing it because you feel as though you have to. Theres no shame in cancelling a project if it comes to it man, do what you all love and make films because thats what you wanna do

  • @RileyBaldock
    @RileyBaldock Год назад +4

It's awesome to have this kind of transparency with your viewers, rather than to just stay silent or lie and say "we're working on it, trust us!" It builds trust in your audience
I've made both fan films and original films with my friends, and the fan films definitely got more views than the original ones, but it wouldn't be fair to say they're of more value than the originals. I'm really proud of both. I don't think the numbers are what's important, but if you're nervous about original films not attracting new viewers, maybe try making one or two more fan films, and then start publishing originals once you're satisfied your audience is big enough?
Personally though, I love your style, and I'd watch original films from you guys any day of the week. They're fun to make and they're fun to watch. And episodic format for OMNAF could work great for it, but don't beat yourselves up if for whatever reason you end up scrapping it. Even projects that don't make it to the screen can be awesome learning experiences, and can be hugely helpful with the next ones.
    Good luck!

Honestly I dont have much to say and I'm sort of late to the party but I'll say this: do what makes you happy, because if you're happy making it us veiwers will be able to see that happiness and same goes for if you're not thrilled about it

I have no doubt that if you choose to make the film it will succeed, But if your heart isn't in it, its best not to do it because it will show in what you make. The copyright stuff is quite tricky though, not sure if you'd get copyright for a Fan film, It's in the title. I love seeing your stuff and I support you in whatever decision you make, Keep up the awesome work Fruit Jar.

I really appreciate that you want to create original films. Not that I think adaptation are easy, but something never seen before should have more value in my opinion.

Hey so I wanted to give some feedback.
While the Freddy's thing is cool if you feel that you would rather scrap it and work on 100% original content that is fine and up to you. Never think that you need to make things perfect or do as the community wants because that is a nightmare of expectations. Do what is fun for you and your team. Do not do feel like you need to make something only because the people want it. I would love to see that secret movie once it's made. Take all the time you need. Have a great day!

If you guys need to cancel or indefinably postpone the movie so you can work on and finish the other project that's fine by me; I can understand how daunting it can feel to make any sort of film based off a franchise that can feel sometimes oversaturated with fan content. With one of your worries, however, I don't think you would get copywrite struck with making a FNaF themed movie, this franchise has always thrived off of the community made content and to my knowledge the only fan project taken down by Scott himself was the open source FNaF 2 remake, but even then that project is what inevitable started the Fan-verse Initiative.

You know, I think that’s fine. If you know what I mean. The wear house has been sold, so now what? What I think you should ultimately do is just follow whatever you want to.

I know there are obviously a lot more problems that were presented in this video BUT regarding your set, there's a channel called Ex Blue that recreated the FNAF 1 building in real life, and in my opinion, it looks spot on. Maybe something to check out if you wanted to possibly collab with them. It could save a lot of time if you like it and it works for your script. I completely understand the feeling of wanting to create everything yourself so it feels more accomplishing once you're done, but I thought I'd throw the idea out there if you are interested.
