    raw is always more conducive to information to the watcher in my opinion. Plus as a rider just doing raw and not staging for a video is more natural and authentic. At least in my newbness its what i appreciate. Thanks for these videos very educational.

    Thank you Brent for this series. I have determined that I will be for now a Joe average. Think i will purchase the Adobe Premier elements, I think its a "one time purchase" then i will check out the linkedin learning, and couple that with your videos as you suggest. Just trying to find something where i can fiddle a bit as i cant justify the time necessary to be a anal al even though in most everything i do i am VERY particular. I know this, i will produce some videos like Nerb1, desire to produce videos like Shadower 75, and most likely will not produce great videos like yours :)

    Thank you for this series. For editing prowess, a couple of my favourite motorcycle vloggers are Everide and Itchy Boots. Their videography and editing skills are outstanding.

      Hey Jeff, I totally agree with you, I've watched both. I love Everide, his cinematography, storytelling and editing is the best I've seen. While Itchy Boots is a good story teller, I find that she over-dramatises a bit. But then this is "her gig" and she is after as many viewers as she can get.

    ‘Raw Authentic’ aptly describes what I do around a campfire, in the wild, on my iPhone 11 ProMax using the basic iMovie app, after a wicked days ride! 😂👍📽🎞 On a serious note, thank you for putting this great series together! Maybe one day I’ll make a B grade movie from my D grade movies! 🤞😂🍀

      Your videos are very "raw and authentic".... my hat goes off to you editing them on your phone on your trip. I don't think I could ever do that. Might be fun to do a highlights reel and edit a "best of" from your trip.

      @@brentbat I’ve just had a tech kid at work download my entire 254 episodes onto a hard drive. So one day I’ll go through the lot and make a 2hr movie of the best bits for my memories! 🤞😂🍀 My only issue will be separating the shitty iMovie music out of each vid! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤞😂

      @@RozalynVeersma Oh... No... So you didn't keep the original unedited footage? That will make it harder but not impossible.... You can drop the audio totally from the original clips and overlay music, sound effects and voice over.

      @@brentbat correct! I had a 2T SSD hard drive with me along with the adaptors to hook it into my iPhone but it was time consuming uploading the GoPro SD card files into my iPhone & then saving it from iPhone to SSD and then when I wanted to make the movie, I had to go back from the SSD into the phone. So instead, after my ride and setting up camp, I’d import circa 2hrs of 4K footage from the GoPro SD card into my iPhone, make the iMovie, export it back to my photos app on the iPhone, check it was all good and then delete the imported GoPro footage as I regularly ran out of storage on my iPhone. My iPhone 11 was 256GB. I should’ve gone the next size up but it still wouldn’t have been enough storage space. Then when I got to the next town with reception, I’d upload to RUclips and then delete the movie from my phone. So in essence, I used RUclips as my storage medium. I also had Dropbox and could’ve upload to that but as it was, most small towns had super slow reception and uploading to RUclips took long enough. I loved the wild and would spend minimal time in towns just to get supplies and then get outta there! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😂🙏🏍💨 So sometimes I’d have 3-4 videos to upload to YT in a remote town with slow internet. It was another reason why at times I had to upload at 1080 quality too which is a real shame but getting back on the trails was my main focus! 🤞😂🏍 It was frustrating but in essence, I never set out to make a series of vids for public consumption, I made them as a pictorial diary for me, my memoirs, that I could watch when I’m 70 and by then I’d have shit eyesight anyway! 😂🙏 The fact the vids took off and people started following my adventure, was purely organic but not it’s intended purpose. I’m just grateful I have something rather than nothing 😁🙏 I’ve now bought the DJI mini 3 follow me drone…but 4 months later, it’s still in the box! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😂🙏 I’m a big fan of KISS method (keep it simple stupid) and my priority on the journey was to fully immerse myself in the journey and just to have a bit of fun around the campfire at night making the vids. Best 450 days of my entire life and every now & again I’ll watch 2-3 videos in a row and I laugh and I cry. Best memoirs ever! 🥲🙏🏍⛺️ It’s almost time to hit the trails again. Old life is completely sold now and the new bike is ready to go. Just finishing a work project in Kalgoorlie and then I’m off for round 2 of the best days of my life! 🤞😂🍀

      @@RozalynVeersma Hey Ros, I totally get it. Very tough to do what you do while you are on the road. Actually I'm still not sure how you set your iPhone up for file transfer, I've only been able to do that on my iPad. (copy from microSD cards to SSD HD backup).
      My stuff is the polar opposite of your situation. I"m doing short trips (2 weeks or less), I just take a pocket full of sd cards, don't try to edit the footage at all when I'm on the road, and save that for when I'm back... that way I kind of extend my fun because I do love the editing.
      Take care

    You love to teach and good at it and who knows where it can develop. I'll watch all the chapters for sure.
    What interests me personally at the moment is how to create a plot with meaning from material that is usually filmed without a script like riding videos . -most of them focus on scenery or challenging routes, some in riding techniques and it's rare that something transcends beyond these 3 formulas. Ryan (Fortnine) and Nora (ItchyBoots) manage to break the format IMHO. few month ago I thought of doing a series about off-road rides to archeological sites mentioned in the Bible but how many off-road bikers will be interested to know what the valley where David shot Goliath in the forehead looks like... :) -so meanwhile I'll just learn more.

    • @brentbat
      @brentbat  3 года назад

      Hey Dror
      Yes, you raise a good point about how to develop the plot from rides. Often you don't know what is going to happen.... Sometimes the plot presents itself on the ride (like when you run into a rock, damage therim, have to do a repair etc.... then the plot is about overcoming the obstacle/adversity), but on the lesson I'm just uploading now, I do talk through the process I go through to develop a bit of a storyline.... In the case of the last day it was an uneventful ride, but you'll see how I came up with the "storyline" for it in the lesson.
      Regarding the biblical references etc, I actually think that is a pretty cool idea.

    I think you overrated Mad tv video quality, especially editing work. I watched several videos made by both guys. They had AMAZING rides, but the videos are soooooooooo long. What I think - they are great only for riders who plan to go to exactly the same trips. Good videos to learn thing to expect there, but for general public (viewers) they are so stretched and quite boring. I do not speak about brainless new generation who can swallow only less then minute long "tik-toks".

    • @Alienbikers-in-India
      @Alienbikers-in-India 3 года назад

      PS your videos are many times better then Mad tv. And decent length.

    • @brentbat
      @brentbat  3 года назад +1

      Yes, I would agree with you on both points. Mad TV is definitely targeting more hard-core enthusiasts and their videos are much longer, I'm generally trying to edit for anybody... whether they're an Adv rider or not. And I also agree with your comment about new generation who can't concentrate for more than 60 seconds. They are being trained to this behavior with TikTok, Insta and RUclips Stories. I think its sad honestly.
