gotta respect whoever those teachers were in real life who took their own free time to help these guys get their grades up so that they can do what they love & thats play basketball.
To be a high school teacher, you HAVE to be passionate about teaching, and savor teaching those that want to learn. College professors are often there for research and don't prioritize teaching.
@@tungsten8290 even that teacher that spoke against the coach at that board meeting, to me he just sounded lazy & didn’t give a shit about his students.
@@redwood9992 yeah and more than that, so that they can have a real life once they get outside of high school rather than winding up on the streets or in prison. Paving a way for them rather than letting them go down a dead end road.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightened us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking. So that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were all meant to shine, as children do. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
This showed that they understood what Coach was doing. They finally got it and it paid off. Those guys went on to do great things. Lot of Hollywood spin but some realness too.
This whole situation brings up a bunch of thoughts to consider. Firstly, coach wouldn’t have succeeded without those teachers willing to sacrifice their time for the betterment of their students. This brings 2 separate thoughts to mind, one being that it’s hard to be the first to do something, but often what that first person tries to succeed at depends on a second or even third person to stand up for it too. The second is a shoutout to the teachers that live that, because your spirit in a role like teaching or coaching makes all the difference in young adults’ lives. Secondly, it took awhile for the players to see the light, but when they truly saw coach was willing to quit over this, they finally saw where his heart was (on them and their future and not on his own personal glory). This helps prove actions speak louder than words, as coach had told them his heart multiple times and they didn’t hear it. Lastly, and rather sadly, it was the parents and family members of these kids that wanted coach gone, willingly sacrificing the young men’s future, hoping to win some high school basketball games because they thought of those games being the best times those kids will have. That’s sad.
So Coach Carter was going to resign but decided to stay after his players/students decided to follow his methods. They should have made a scene in the movie where he lets the board and faculty know and makes it abundantly clear to them that he only decided to stay for that reason and not because he condones their message that basketball is more important than education.

Unlike the school board, who was evidently more worried about their own reputations and getting re-elected.

This movie is so underrated.
“So leave us be coach. We got s*it to do sir”. LOVE that line. And that Power Beyond Measure speech……..
It's based on a real person my Sister taught with.
" If you wanna be somebody And you wanna go somewhere , You better wake up and pay Attention ".
Sister Act 2 😊
Sister Act 2!

Yea that’s the line
you made my day😃
Is this line from some book or movie original.
@@amarchhantyal4918 it’s from a book by Marianne Williamson but probably more well known quoted in a speech made by Nelson Mandela
The more sensitive you become to pleasure the same can be said for pain. I don't think any less of the people who choose to remain at a happy medium

"Sir they can cut the chain off the door but they can't make us play."- renewed coach Carter's hope!
They finally realised that someone actually gave a damn about their future, and believe they can do more.
My boy sure did 'lay his ass out' with that fantastic concoction of words you could call poetry, sir.
This had me laughing and crying at the same time 😂😂😂😂😂
Cruz had the best story arc
Its the thank you.. you saved my life. That's a very powerful statement
Yeah, he gave him a second chance to turn his life around.

These or those teachers along with the aides, should be applauded for a job well done.
I LOVE how Damien and Lyle were sitting next to each other *I LOVE THIS MOVIE* 🤘🏼🤘🏼

The players sent that message for him
“You save my life” is a deep line, just incredibly well delivered.
AMAZING FILM ONE OF MY FAVOURITE FILMS
Hell of a movie
Cruz was the one he touched the most ❤
Oh Coach My Coach
Damn, i'm crying again
That's how you know you doing something right.
If I played a team that studied together academics in high school I would prolly shit myself.
I was today years old when I learned that this is not a Mandela quote but a Marianne Williamson quote... wtf
I cried at this scene, when he entered the gym and saw everyone at desk
X2
Anytime I see wildhog in arrow I remember this scene...
The movie is kind of predictable and cliched, BUT.. Great actors make it very enjoyable. Have watched it more than once.
Did this scene happen in real life, or was it written just for the movie?
They really didn't play till their grades improved he planned on resigning, till he realized his message got through to his students.
