    That first exchange with Denzel and Petey in the gym was completely improv about football not being fun. Denzel was supposed to just tell him to put his hand down and give his speech. So his reactions and stuttering was authentic. It was so good the directors kept it in.

      I don't know the football references specifically, so I can't explain that particularly, but the point was mainly just them coalescing as a team, as two members from opposite "camps" coming together finally as teammates. The two of them just had their heart-to-heart about doing their jobs/attitudes & the captain of the team was called out for not leading well.

    Here's something I bet not many of you knew about this movie: the original screenplay had tons of R-rated dialogue in it. From F-bombs to N-words, practically nonstop. But a Disney exec went to producer Jerry Bruckheimer and asked him to remove all major profanity from the script. There are parts in the film where you can tell they edited it (or reshot it, rather) where there was originally a more major profane word. For example, when Boone says "John brown hind parts", it was probably originally something more vulgar. But, this being a Disney film aimed at families, they wanted to make it more family friendly. Plus, films released under the Disney banner have never been rated R. There are companies owned by Disney that have released R-rated films, but none of those have had the Disney logo itself on them.

    • @jordanrodriguez6412

      Godam. Disney always has to ruin something first mcu. Now remember the titans? Gtfoh.

    • @t.h8919
      @t.h8919 5 лет назад +8

      @Sanjith Hegde is that even up for debate? If anything, cleaning up the dialogue reduces the authenticity of the film, especially considering it's based on a true story. Profanities and racial slurs are a part of reality and we shouldn't be trying to hide or deny it to preserve the feelings of overly sensitive people. Disney watered down the dialogue so they could make more money off it. Of course the film wouldn't be worse with profanities, it could only be better, more genuine.
      Now if you had said 'i don't think removing profanities made the film worse, as long as it got the message across', then you might have an argument worth considering.

      Lee Peffers when I went to Navy boot camp I had never been in any leadership role before in my life. After a few weeks in, I was assigned to be a section leader for my area of our compartment. If someone in my area made a mistake, I got beat. If they failed at a task, I got beat. If someone let another recruit knowing fail, I got beat. At first I would get angry and defensive, after all while I was not perfect by any means, I was suffering for others mistakes. Then one night one guy in my area got sick, too sick to fold his uniform after dark and make sure his shit was squared away for the morning. I was already exhausted from a long watch earlier and I had been sick myself. I noticed that none of his immediate rack mates were volunteering to do his tasks for him, and something in me snapped. I walked over, and started folding his uniforms and I told his rack mates that if they weren’t going to help, to get the fuck into their racks and shut up. One of the guys, much bigger than me, mouthed off at me and we almost came to blows right then and there. Over the next few days I never asked anyone to do anything, if I saw it needed to be done I just did it. Sooner or later, everyone in my area noticed, and one by one they all started doing the same. By final inspection, my area passed with not a single hit on our record, and I realized that every mistake that they had made, that I had suffered for, was my mistakes as a leader coming back to haunt me. I never went on to do anything special for the Navy, but some of my guys did, and I think I’m more proud of that than of anything I could have done myself. It took my a while to realize what a good leader is, and even longer to realize that I want being one. It is to this day both one of my sorriest and proudest moments of growth in my life.

    This is a story of overcoming true diversity putting aside our differences and coming together regardless of skin color and cultural differences, the fact is none of us are so different we all bleed red we all cry tears we all have a heart beat they said it best in this movie, coach Yost says how much he learned from the team, he learned to trust the soul of a man rather than the color of his skin...

    Man THIS is the kind of football coach I needed in middle and highschool. From 7th-11th grade I was varsity center, left tackle, right guard, long snapper and sometimes Half-back (it was a 2A charter school so we had to rotate and the coaches switched between highschool and middleschool) but all our head coach did during games was yell at us and break his clipboards. I remember when I quit at the end of jr. year we all chipped in and bought him a custom diamond steel plate clipboard. He bent that over his knee the next year during homecoming. Ended up needing a helivac out.

    That is on the Offensive of the Ball. It Means that They both were on the Left Side Which was the Strong Side of the Defense. It has nothing to do with the offense. Just simply means that they both were lined up on the Left Side of the Defense so it was the strong side because they were the best.

It was about a group of young men putting away their differences despite what their skin color was and became one big family and set an example to accept those for who they are and NOT what they look like. The world today needs to watch this movie a trillion times over and understand the message behind this movie!
