25/07/1985 show opener, so I'd only turned six a month prior, so I didn't remember it either - though I'd also forgotten it from the BBC4 reruns but then the '85 eps were a good few years back now themselves. EDIT: oh and missed the very start of the ep last night, so dunno if they edited out Gary Davies's 'joke' or not...? 'Ooh' indeed...
Wonderful. The only thing that spoils this clip is the inane “sun tan” conversation, I hate when people say that to me, thankfully doesn’t happen often these days.
Insane to think this got into the Top 40 while the enduring ‘Hot Hot Hot’ stalled at No.59! How many times did you hear ‘Long Time’ on the radio? Of course the real crime is Gilberto Gil’s ‘Toda Menina Baiana’ not making it to the Top 40 due to competition from a crap cover version produced by Stock Aitken Waterman (!). In the end neither version charted!
Wow it looks like back then you can get away with a lot, A white going to a black guy you have a better suntan then me on Tv would be all over the news now
I knew the white guy, Gary Davies. Back in the late 70's he used to be one of the dj's at a nightclub called Placemmate 7 in Manchester. He was from a very well off family, use come to work in porsche.

La Flecha, el mejor de todos
Long time live sempre na mídia das melhores lambadas.
This will remind a few of you of the all-night curfew parties in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea in the early 1980's.

That was tame. British Sitcoms were worse, especially in the 70’s.
I knew the white guy, Gary Davies. Back in the late 70's he used to be one of the dj's at a nightclub called Placemmate 7 in Manchester. He was from a very well off family, use come to work in porsche.
