@Satan Victim is my favorite A7X tune. Followed by Exist, Unholy Confessions, A Little Peace of Heaven, and Almost Easy... the question now is where do I put Cosmic
Love it or hate it, this sounds like NOTHING out there. This is art of the highest form. I started respecting these guys more after The Stage, and I think this might just become my favorite record by these guys. They are in a place musically that few artists reach.

I think the album is supposed to be from life with game over to death with life the actual (d)eath being maybe suicide and life is but a dream being purgatory. Atleast that’s what I’m thinking
Exactly..first it's suicide, then the traversal of death through your life, your regrets, mistakes, failed wishes and in the end it's just calm...your soul finished the journey, you are back to being cosmic dust, back to being a part of the universe
Cosmic is about the same as Angels in the sentiment, except the fact that by now Cosmic already has more views on youtube than Angels does. both 100% in my top 5 A7X songs they are so beautiful yet awesome sounding
@João Calhado there is a reason to that..the album is a journey from suicide to traveling as a soul through the chaos of what life is and everything the person regrets..it is chaotic to portray our life, we as humans are chaotic, but final death is always peaceful..hence the ending of album is at peace. After all the ego death and actual death through out the journey you end up returning to being cosmic dust and just going back to being..universe
you are not the only reviewer i’ve seen not really like beautiful morning, and to me it seems crazy because that was one of my immediate favorites. The melody and note choice on the chorus “you… walk on water, but the water… swallows you” seems so dark but also impactful, like something from a boss battle
im so glad i could be alive for a release of a future classic, that way i can tell people "i remember when this album came out, it wasnt loved by everyone but quickly became a classic"
I can understand the dislike for nobody. For me it’s the lyrical content. The idea of being nobody but being everything as we are all apart of the universe but also being in the universe can be interpreted as being meaningless is something that resonates with me and is a core belief and philosophy of mine.
Easier is amazing, thought the clean guitar was also very reminiscent of Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam. Absolutely wild album, i got a leaked version from google drive the other day so I've listened quite a lot and it's definitely a grower - took a lot less time to 'click' for me than i thought it would on first listen
The album as a whole IS the experience. Its a journey through LIFE. The harsh realities life throws at you topped with beautiful melodies which represent your highs in life. Its a masterpiece work of art. Its made for you to reflect on yourself and do some soul searching. Absolutely brilliant much respect to A7X
Fantastic review. I had a lot of the same reactions and sound comparisons on my first listen. I think this album will resonate really strongly with people that are fans of a vast range of genres and more strict metal fans will miss out. I loved their take with (O)rdinary
It’s one of the wildest albums I’ve heard this year. The first half is more or less what I expected, but the second half was one curveball after another. I think it’ll grow on me, but for now, 8/10.
I love this album for the pure reason that people hate it or tell it´s a masterpeice. For me a lot of the songs started slowly grow on and now i can´t stop listening and want more of this weirdness.
Really enjoyed your reaction. You have great thoughts so I hit that subscribe button hard as hell. :D In Nobody: It's cosmicity what resonates with me. The shared experience of egodeath. In the chorus I believe there are two different sides clashing making a tension that builds up then explodes and it is released in the sweepy groovy solo. (I think it is the greatest solo that I ever heard.) Also, the realization that the world we live in is "fake" or at least it is not true at all because the experience of our existence is jailed by rules, expectations, dogmas, etc... Cosmic: For me it is the best song that I have ever heard. I used to meditate in a period of my life and listening to it I feel the same energy and I get again the feel that I experienced while I was meditating. So strange bond here. :)
Cosmic is, by FAR, twh best track on the album. I was really worried about this album, seeing as Avenged haven't ventured into prog much, but I am really pleased with it as a whole ... its a great listen, some tracks don't hold well on their own, but as a whole, this album is great.
First listen of this album I was very skeptical but since giving it 3 more listens it is definitely an amazing album. Cosmic,Mattel and Nobody are the only songs I’ll probably listen to on there own. Other than that the album is definitely made to be listened to from beginning to end.
This album is my favorite album of all time at the moment. I had a hard time with the vocoder/autotuned robot vocals at first, and generally didn't like Davenged Punkfold, but I've listened to the album front to back many times now and I love every song.
It's definitely very interesting. It's very experimental, you can tell this was written purely from a love of music. Not focused on selling but more a work of art. I'm glad they did it but not still quite my cup of tea. About 5 songs were bangers though.
It's definitely a concept album. I've listened to it in full like 4 times so far and there's 5 songs i absolutely love. Matt's voice is outstanding and he even brought back City of Evil screaming for this album but his singing voice is the best. I feel like I need to do DMT to fully appreciate this album 😂
The first track they put out nobody that song is fire. I love that song I just love Dakota Torres, the vocals everything but I think the whole album is fire.
For me in the point that you said that music doesnt build as it once did, there are bands that still do it... 2 examples of the top of my head: Static Dress - Marisol and Sleep Token - Ascencionism. Those two build up into something beautiful.... And for the album, its a rollercoaster of emotions, for me it was so good, the 2 singles are the weakest but the rest, OH BOY, top tier.
Have you listened to it again? What are you feelings about it now? You mentioned that the album is a grower, which I agree. I've noticed cool things later after many repeats. I wonder if you like it more or less now?🤔
If you think about this as an experimental step up from City of Evil, whereas City of Evil was genuinely experimental in terms of the time it was released, THIS is QUITE the upgrade from that and I feel like it "breaks the barriers" of music in such a beautiful way. It's certainly not gonna hit the people who like the typical sounds of metal and rock and punk and things like that, but as long as you're open to change, and open to experimentation of genres as a concept being nonexistent in a sense, you're really gonna enjoy this one. TL;DR: You NEED to approach this album with a different mindset than any of the previous A7X records. It is NOT gonna be the same old same old formula by ANY means. Also, if you're a fan of Sleep Token, you're going to feel right at home with all the genre-bending and fusions here. Honestly, I feel like Matt's been listening to a lot of Sleep Token recently and said "Aye yo, I think we can also pull something like this off too"
This album definitely takes a very nihilistic view on existentialism, with every track having a purpose or main idea that it is presenting throughout the story. I think Nobody is a kind of song that just kind of highlights the repetitive nature of the way people live, and coming to a realization that you’re life is basically meaningless to some degree. You do the same thing day in and day out.
