      Oh come on, they obtained a licence (or a permission in this case as referred in the album) and incorporated it as a sample in their creative process, it isn't being parasites when you got the rights to do so. The Prodigy didn't straight up stole it. You can unlike the band, but calling them parasite feels like an overreaction imo.
      Edit : just saw one of your com below, they did credit Manfred Mann.

    I bought this album when it first came out, being a youngster who was unto 1960's Manfred Mann in their hitmaker guise.
    I wasn't surprised once I got home and I played this on my old Dansette record player.
    Swirly Vertigo at it's best, it's a pity Manfred doesn't play this in the live Earth Band sets.

    I was familiar with the Earth Band version of this song off their album Glorified Magnified before I was familiar with this version, as I owned Glorified Magnified much longer. I like both versions, the Earth Band unsurprisingly has a much more rock feel to it, with Mick Rogers guitar solo in place of the horns.

    Man, that bass is gettin it. I likes.
    I can't believe this is the same band that did "Doo Wah Diddy." Lol.
    And on that note, it's hard to believe either were made by the band who popularized "Blinded by the Light." Talk about a band with a lot of different sounds.

    • @Miler97487
      @Miler97487 6 лет назад +2

      lovesthebass No, it's basically a totally different band from the "Doo Wah Diddy"-era band aside from Mann and Mike Hugg (who switched from drums to vocals and electric piano). Bassist Steve York came from East of Eden (he's on their debut album Mercator Projected), Craig Collinge from an Australian band called Procession, a band that Mick Rogers was in before the Earth Band, and as for Bernie Living, not sure. Still it's hard to believe there's only a five year gap between "Doo Wah Diddy" and this. Manfred Mann's Earth Band was also totally different from the '60s band and Chapter Three in band members. It's Mann himself the common denominator to all the bands.

    • @charliem2116
      @charliem2116 6 лет назад +1

      HAHAHAHAHA!! I'll tell you what I know, pal! I know that there are people on this thread who actually thought that (to quote them) "prodigy were the originators of this sound". The whole sampling thing is parasitic. Prodigy do not even CREDIT Manfred Mann Chapter Three as the people who composed this fabulous music!
      Like I said ... PARASITES.
      And if you want to see an idiot, then look in a mirror. :-)

    • @DamonMacready
      @DamonMacready 6 лет назад +10

      Old man Charlie M... Manfred Mann covered lots of other artists' songs. He didn't do it to cop other people's original works, but to pay tribute to them. Same thing with sampling artists, just done in new ways. It's refreshing for many people to hear approaches from different angles. Mashup art was introduced already by Andy Warhol and has been an artform for decades! Don't be so afraid of things you don't understand! :-)

    • @RussRockwell
      @RussRockwell 5 лет назад +1

      Charlie M Oh please, your narrow minded antiquated opinion shows you have no objective knowledge on the art form of sampling in music production. Nobody stole anything because they legitimately PAID for the rights to use the sample. No different to when a band records a cover version or interpolates a riff or section from another existing song the original composer/writer gets publishing royalties. From your scathingly negative comment I assume you know nothing about the music business. Regardless, as Picasso said: “bad artists copy, great artists steal”!!!

    Its the last track on album, and its an instrumental, half the samples they use are still pretty un-recognisable and Liam still does the make drum parts and melodies.
    They're pretty much the same since the 90's, just because they sample a song like this (which has been used in plenty of radio, tv and film ads a.k.a "Selling Out") doesn't make it bullshit music at all!
    For example: Voodoo People, which came out in 1994 was basically made from "Very Ape" by Nirvana.
    The Prodigy are still genius.
