    It may be worth mentioning that speakers do have a positive and negative terminal. Especially in the front where you had to make the connections yourself. You want the positive lead to the positive terminal so it pushes the cone away from the magnet,

    I recently found your channel, and have been going back catching up on Grand Ma. My question about the speakers is: are they all the same speaker, or different front and back? (since they all seem to be the same size)
    I am getting a lot of info from you since I purchased my 04 GM this past October, and I love my two tone green/gold girl. She has 164K easy miles on her, as she was owned by the late mother of a friend of mine. BTW I already replaced my base radio with a 7" touch screen model from Amazon. Mine does have back up cam (not in yet), AM/FM, no GPS, BUT it does have 12/24 hour clock which most do not!
    Really enjoy your work, keep it up! I am anxiously waiting to see how you install the back up cam. Bruce

    How did you get the polarity correct on the factory speaker wires (positive, and negative)?
    Or, does it not really matter?
    That always drives me crazy.
    The last time I installed door, rear deck speakers, I was lucky and they came with the adapter harness that plugs into the factory connector, and then into the aftermarket speaker (Crutchfield included them for free).
    Good tip to remember to mention the 5 digit keyless entry door pin code.
    How about a winter car tip video about checking to make sure your heating, ventilation, and a/c system function so it'll be ready to defrost the insides of the windows, and keep occupants toasty warm.
    Oh yeah, you still haven't hooked up the backup camera, when you installed the stereo. Maybe you'll do that when your running wire for the subwoofer.
    What else did I forget?
    Oh yeah...

    • @OldeCarrGuy
      @OldeCarrGuy  4 года назад +1

      Polarity doesn’t really matter as long as you are consistent when pluggin in! I used the right side of each connector (looking at the open end) as the positive! I guess I forgot to mention that in the video!
      Thanks for the suggestion about winter car care! I just may do that.
      As far as the backup camera, I did hook it up back in late summer, just didn’t vlog it! I can definitely go over that again as well as the gps!
      Thanks for keeping me on track Chuck!

      No! Because the speakers are universal fit! There is a way to make it work, but it involves getting the speaker wire connectors off another car and wiring them in. The way I did it was just a time saver! Thanks for watching.

      I think you can make a 6x9's work in the rear (may have to mount from the bottom), but not so much up front (due to the depth of the speaker to the glass in the door).

I never want to worry about corrosion or speakers cutting in and out with bumps or anything else for that matter. You literally skipped or sped through the most critical and important parts of the process. How exactly you tap into the OEM wiring to install the Kenwood speakers. That is literally the most important part. Show how you tapped into the OEM wiring with the aftermarket adapter components. This is the most important thing. The second is proper disassembly of the door panels and rear deck.

    • @OldeCarrGuy
      @OldeCarrGuy  2 года назад

      @ 2:45 I thought I explained how to connect the speaker wires quite clearly, however, I do apologize if I wasn't detailed enough. This video isn't meant to be a "how to" video which is why I didn't explain how to remove the door panel. If you need more help with either of these procedures, i'd be happy to walk you through a video chat!
