- In this very special video, we team up with Borla to make one of my Grandpa's dreams come true, adding a dual exhaust to his Mercury! As someone who takes great pride in their vehicles, "Papa" loves his chrome and loves a good sounding V8 engine. He's always eager to talk about cars he's had in the past, but one thing he's always quick to point out is that his Mercury Grand Marquis, which he bought back in 2003, is the only car he's had that doesn't have a factory or aftermarket dual exhaust system. It's always something he wanted to do, but never got around to doing it. After installing a couple Borla setups on my own vehicles, I've become a big fan of the brand. Papa will be 93 this year and while he doesn't drive much anymore, he still loves his Mercury. I'm so proud to have been able to work with Borla in doing this for him. His reactions and excitement was priceless! Of course, as with my other exhaust install videos, this will be a two part video series that not only highlights a great sounding exhaust system, but if you're considering a similar setup on your car, you'll be able to see what it's all about. This video focuses on meeting papa and discussing the project, installation of the exhaust, some before and after shots, initial impressions, a start up with open manifolds, and all of Papa's reactions! The second video will be my new Pure Sound video format. As the name suggests, that video will focus entirely on sound, demonstrating the exhaust setup in a variety of ways from different camera angles, static revs and inboard driving shots to acceleration, GoPro bumper shots, cold starts and more. I hope you guys enjoy and I'm more than happy to answer any and all questions to the best of my abilities!
Again, if you're looking for a similar setup on your Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis, here's a LINK to this particular exhaust: www.borla.com/...

Imagine showing up to bingo with that exhaust system. Holy jeez.
Your grandpa only rolling with dual exhaust on all his cars is straight badass
should have gone quad exhaust.
+Team Shmo Woahhh I used to drift GT6 with a guy from Shmo! Believe he name was Paul if I remember correctly.
Tweak Work lol that dude used to run the drift team, but haven't heard from him in a while
+Team Shmo I see haha, I haven't played gt6 in forever. I moved to ps4 and hate using the PS3 without a mic! Can't wait for the next game. I'll have to check out your website and get in touch with you guys again when the next game releases.
Tweak Work ya man, gran turismo sport on ps4 should be awesome!
If I saw a 93 year old pull up in even a slightly modified car i would have so much respect for them! Your papa is awesom!
My grandpa may not be 93 but he drives a slammed and cambered debadged 350Z :P
+The Arkle that's awesome
+The Arkle How old is your Grandpa?
Shit man, you should see my grandfather then. 74 years old, pioneer double din, amplified alpine components, two 15" subs, drives around everywhere with the windows down and country blasting. It's a sight to see.
Hehe. My dad is 73 and is currently driving around in my 1995 Saab 9000. It has 3" exhaust, Garrett GT28RS turbo, injectors, fuel pump etc. and has been dynoed at 340hp. Apparently he has surprised quite a few Beemers with it...
I called my grandpa Papa. He was a lot like your grandpa, this video brought tears to my eyes. He passed away on father's day of 2015. I miss him a lot.
Sorry to hear that bro

You did well young man, and it shows how much love and respect you have for this man!!...Never part with this car.....even if it has to rot away in the woods out back........just keep it. It will mean SO much to you when your his age. Salute to you...and your Grandpa!!
yeh, if you take decent care of them, those panther platform cars can last a very long time and go for hundreds of thousands of miles.
That's not the point dingus
I was talking to filthy
It's about the memories
yeh, i'm sure the old feller appreciates the work that was done on the wheels. the grandson will likely inherit a good car that will serve him well. he's got a good grandfather and the grandfather has a good grandson. cherish the time you guys got left because, we aren't going to be around forever.
Dude build the car for him before he goes, you will love yourself for doing it.
Man, I want to sit down with that old timer and talk about life in the past!
isnt that the truth, you'd hear some great stories
I know right, he must have some interesting stories to tell.
wonder if he ran a little shine :)
i just wanna push him over

I think you putting a Borla exhaust system on your grandfathers car is awesome!! Your a good grandson it's awesome to see the smile & reaction on his face!! Family is so very important!! Your helping your grandfather go threw a second faze of childhood!! That is just awesome!! 👍
Agreed. I love watching videos like these because this is what our world should be like.
Amen brother you are so very right!! 👍🦅🇺🇸
You're*
Your granddad's accent is amazing, I'm not American but I've always liked the 'old south' and it really reminds me of that.
Sadly you don't hear many people that sound like that anymore
+kssnyder2 idk where you live but I'm just in southern Indiana but I hear plenty of people who talk like that
I'm in North Carolina. People like this seem to only exist out in the rural areas here.
Funny Enough, SaabKyle Lives in NC too. if you watch his videos, he says his Gramps lives in Reidsville. There are plenty of people who have country accents in NC, if you stay away from Wake County or Charlotte.
+Josh Nixon true, but most of them are older and younger people are losing it. Notice SaabKyle himself.
Just cause you get older doesn't mean you can't be cool, good for you.
You don't stop playing bcuz you get old. You get old bcuz you stop playing

Great video man! Awesome exhaust note!
Thanks man!
sorry for your loss
Thanks andrew. 92 years well spend, what else can you ask for?
Sorry to hear that man. :(
I'm sorry to hear that my grandfather died October 18 2015 at 75 years old he would be 77 next januray12th
I was moved almost to the point of tears when I saw the beautiful relationship you have with your grandfather, which I hope continues well and in good health. I had a similar relationship with mine, except that he left 8 years ago. I hope you are very well, a sincere hug from Veracruz, Mexico.
It's sad for me to say, but Papa passed away a few years ago... they had a great relationship.
Grandpa is way cool. I hope im like that when i get older.
LilRandy Savage seriously
avoid fast food and u will be ok
We need more young people like you in this world...good man!!
For all you inconsiderate pieces of shit, that are saying "cringe" etc. shame on you
This is a man that kyle has looked up to all his life, loves very much and is trying to help him to feel young again. You clearly have never had a older relative going through something like this and I wouldn't even wish it on you.
Kyle i wish my great grandfather was into cars. But for quite a while before he died i helped him garden when he couldn't. That was his passion.
God bless you and borla.
Thank you for restoring my faith in the youtube comments
You're dam right, i love elderly people. We'll get there in due time always remember that. I lost my grandparents years ago i've only have my grandma(from moms side) left.
amen, RJ! Could not agree more!
Our society is in a world of trouble when we've raised a generation that don't RESPECT their elders.
RJ well said, I no longer have any living grandparents. Seeing someone cherish the time they have left with them, and showing them that they care and doing projects like this is just awesome! That means the world to a person of "Poppa's" age. The look on his face when he Poppa heard his new exhaust was priceless. Glad to see someone close to my age show respect for their elders. When he's gone you'll have no regrets that you made his last days/years memorable.
This guy is an OG , old guy
+Polio lol
GG: Gangster Grandpa
Your point being? You'll be like that one day, and some young person will be passing comment that you're old. How will that make you feel?
+Shaker4x4 old
+redcraftsmeh Lol, that's obvious, but aside from that ^_^
Your Papa is very proud of you an so should he be, your a good good kid and remind me of my son's relationship with his "poppy" and his love for cars. You are setting an example of how we should love, respect and learn form our seniors, a fading trait in todays youths. Keep on living your dream. Harry
So true
Your a good grandson. Enjoy every moment with that sweet man.
jdmcwherter Papa Slim recently past away unfortunately...
This video makes me miss my grandfather more than I've missed him in years. Still a great video though, makes me happy to see that you've still got your's, Kyle.
Yeah I feel you man!
I hear you! feel the same way
I'm sure you got parents? maybe your father will let you deck out his car?
Same here man

Having just found out my unconscious Grandpa's going to hospice, I re-watched this video for the first time since it came out.
Thank you somuch for this, Kyle. It brings to mind the great time we gave to our grandfathers in their final years.
Adam C prayers man
I'm not going to lie... This video brought a tear to my eye. Don't forget to spend every minute you can with him.
Papa don't want no crappy Continentals, he wants Michelins!
I was thinking that too. A smooth riding car like that needs a smooth riding tire.
Continentals are some of the highest rated tires, tf you mean crappy?
+userrob880 compared to Michelin, they are second rate.
+userrob880 Guess what a Bugatti rides on? Michelins -not Continentals
do they come in WHITE WALLS? Grandpa hates black walls!!!!
I'd really love to see your gold play button soon!
Thank you my friend, that means a lot :)
Sadly we don't have those in the US, I would love to otherwise!
+Saabkyle04 I miss the leuxs es350 ultra
+Saabkyle04 can you do a review for the Mercury Marauder
We have VR6 Corrado's in the US.....
i do agree with your grandfather, very few black wheels look nice to me. I'm a chrome guy myself. So the chrome era isn't gone entirely
same with me
Love chrome, but only if it's real chrome, none of that plastic stuff
Wow!!!! that car is so clean underneath. Looks like it's never been driven in the rain.
koolkar55 I was thinking that. Looks practically new under there
Rain doesn’t kill your car??? Only salt from the snow
christian Lemonade humidity does
Konstantin Dufnik ligma also does
I have the same car and color but mine is 2005 it looks the same but the steering wheel is more blocky looking and actually looks better than the circular one.
Next you should add an air intake for that induction, actually, you might as well add a supercharger for that whine, then upgrade the brakes to handle the power, then, since you upgraded the brakes, it'd be a shame not to get coilovers, and with coilovers, you know it's useless without good performance tires, but then the chassis might not be able to handle the grip, so better stiffen the chassis while you're at it and then...
And that is how Papa became the fastest senior citizen in the county XD
Jacinth Gudetti "procharger for that whine" smh
Anthony Mazza Oh wow, just noticed that. XD Meant supercharger, duh. Mistake on my part, sorry. Corrected
Have you ever seen a senior citizen drive the speed limit?
ozelot250 It's a joke post. You know, how one mod leads to another and another and soon you end up with more if a racecar than a street car.
Jacinth Gudetti yes I get it 😂 so was my comment a joke
Bro gramps rocking some fresh ass slippers
Diego MunozLedo bruh you hella funny
R.I.P. papa, you will be missed.

Sorry for your loss.
That's pretty cool man. I wish I could have done something like that for my Grandad.
You and i both. Time runs out far too quick.
Me too man. My grandpa always loved the 57 Chevy. I wanted to get one and let him drive it. Eventually I'll get one and have some tribute paint work done for him. Last thing he said to me was "once a driver, always a driver", after they took his license and he continued to drive lol.
Grand dad?..GRAND DAD?!! ughhh FLEENTSTONES? GRAND DAD!
I envy you young feller. I never had my grandfathers in my life and even at 57 I still feel it!
I'm doing my best to be there for my grandchildren! The other Grandfather passed because of cancer. They are so much fun!
He's funny as hell! "Them rims ugly" 😂
😂😂😂
When did he say that? Lol
+Tobias bout 4:30
Grandpa loves his stock rims.
R.I.P papa, you're one of those RUclips characters who always made me smile 😭
papa wanted flo masters
need to be up in the morning cooking breakfast or something anyways
yup they sounded stock to me
40 Series flows on ford v8s man, those borla's being free & all don't do it justice. But it's all a good deed so respect to you there.
Choke masters are 👎🏻
the whistles go WOOOOOOOO!!!!
You're a good kid, Kyle. I'm glad there are people like you in this world.
It's so nice to see a young fellow who was brought up right and shows respect to his elders. My hat is off to you......very well done........I give you my respect.
Papa right about one thing. Black wheels are "just ugly"
Unless it is the black wheels with the chrome center on a white Crown Victoria P71
Depends on the car and the color.
Because back in his day, they were steelies, and it meant you were broke lol. Not so much anymore
The fuck is wrong with people disliking this?
Maybe their grandfather died recently. The other half are just trolls.
those who never got the chance......................+1 on the trolls as well
+Sebastián Cetina Suárez damn😂😂
They probably don't like the car
maybe they don't like dual exhausts. ..who knows
Pappa wants coilovers and a side chick to make use of them libido pills
Lmao
Robert Jones 🤣🤣🤣👍🏽
all these people telling Kyle that his grandfather shouldn't be driving why don't you let them worry about that call Grandfather seems like a level-headed man if he felt like he didn't need to drive he would put down his keys.
damn right :)
Amen bro!
Amen brother!!
he said himself that papa doesn't drive much anymore
no,just no...obviously his grandfather shouldn't be driving.
Just like mine, 20 years old and its the same age as me. Starts everytime, reliable and moddable! The community is out there, you got to look for it. These cars are living hidden gems.
You and you Grandpapa are so cool.... Keep it up and you keep him alive for many more years....
We need more grandkids like you in this world. Made me choke a little. Im sure Papa is very very proud of you. You have a great heart and I love the patience you have for him. Kudos to you for being an example
Boooy that's a real southerner right there! This is cool man.
tim funk You haven't really been to the south, have you? Not everyone is like that.
Yea i know i was just bein a dick about the sister thing. But i do know people from the south and they are all racist as shit, thinkin about it i bet that old guy is to, him bein from fack in the day and all
tim funk Some are, some aren't.
Sure is
+tim funk I dont know what south you know but im from the 2016 south where hardly anyone actually shows hatred for another race
Who would dislike this video. I'm convinced some people are miserable with life. Salute this young man for what he's doing for his grandfather. Family is important. Live, love ,life
Beautiful video. I never met my grandfather. I grew up with my grandmom who got killed at a nursing home due to negligence in the northeast. The same nursing home I found out got hit wtih 26 lawsuits. That says something about them. Dont put your parents in a nursing home. For their safety and mental health they need to stay home with their family. Some insurance companies such as life insurance companies offer to help you by having someone stay with you at home and help out your loved one at a yearly fee. Dont listen to the propaganda that these hospices and nursing homes make about being the best, etc. Dont believe them. It is all based on greed and money, not caring, so dont believe them. The system never worked and will never work and the states protect these crappy agencies. Take care of your grandfather. He is like me. I love chrome on the big cars. Nice. God bless him.
I volunteer at a nursing home. Some of the staff care. Some don't. I hate how they ignore some of them because they "don't know what they are taking about."
A lot of people in the health field, especially doctors are trained to be insensitive to the patients. This is what they teach them in medical schools. This is contrary to what medicine should be about. Nurses act the same way. They are told that to survive you cannot get attached to people. Plain stupid. Medicine in this country revolves around avarice and money, not caring. It is all wrong.
yup, my grandfather had a live in aid and he was much happier
You see what I mean, and when the time comes where they cannot think for themselves it is best to keep them with the family believe me. You will save yourself a lot of surprises compared to if you leave them at a nursing home where they are mistreated. They need love, attention and respect. They raised us. Dont forget that.
That's what many people don't get about other culture for example my grandpa he work here for years and he build himself a home in Mexico his retired but he lives in Mexico with my grandma happily without debt or insurance bullshit
Damn, that car is clean as hell!
Papa needs some bags and turbo kit...
Hell yea
“I’m happy to be his grandfather” made me cry. You rock dude and so does poppa 👏
Who else liked before watching 😛
Me.
I did

I just did also! 😊
how the hell do all old people keep their cars looking like new. The leather in their cars is always mint condition
This video was great. Love the Marquis and your Grandfather. May he rest in peace.
I am a CNA and to see you actively involved in your grandfathers life really hits home. Fantastic video!
Hey Kyle, I've never commented on any RUclips video ever, mostly because people just seem to use the comments to say some really stupid or derogatory thing. But I really enjoyed this clip because my name is also Kyle and like you, I also had a special relationship with with an auto enthusiast grandfather who I called Papa and sometimes just Pop. I lost him in December of last year and it made me happy to hear your grandfather say some of the same things to you that mine had said to me about cars and my abilities. But the similarities don't end there because in the spring of this year I purchased his '03 Grand Marquis LS in Spruce Green Metallic, from his estate. I have enjoyed owning this car not just because it belonged to my grandfather but because I really like big comfortable cars in fact I subscribed to your channel after watching your video on the Jaguar XJL R. This was a feel good video, even if I did cry a little... Thanks.
Thank you so much my friend and I'm sorry to hear about your loss. We must always cherish the relationships we have with our family. Papa and I have done a lot of stuff with this car together over the years, memories I wouldn't trade for anything else. I hope you continue to enjoy that Mercury for years to come, after all it's a piece of him and that means a lot. Have a great week buddy!
+Saabkyle04 you should rent an old Ferrari for a day and let him drive it
Makes me sad to live in the salt belt... that undercarriage is mint.
Agreed! They use so much salt around here that when the roads dry up after a snowstorm, you see white dust behind the cars.
I have the same year grand marquis I'm scared to look under it Ohio is hard on cars
same but live in DC
Should see mine up here in the far Northern Canada, salt is highly favored almost afraid my seat is gonna fall through the floor.
SwiftyTheNinja I'm in Ontario, I know your pain, my friend. I have pictures of my black Jeep... and it is all white from road salt. Its always funny when Americans go nuts whenever someone drives through a bit of salt water :p
Your Papa is cool Man, Great Video !!

My Grandparents have a 1996 Lincoln Town car signature series and they love that car so much.
Great to see a millennial that cares about his family, Awesome job making your grandfather so happy!
that video made me smile a lot ,thanks !
very awesome of you to do that for your grandfather
Bet your PaPa was thinking the whole time......"Boy, you should be out there getting your self some tail....just like your PaPa used to do". Love the vid. Best of luck to both of you!
Tail isnt what it use to be....

Sheeboes _11 I'm slightly annoyed that he didn't put it on himself tbh
I just love seeing grandpa and grandson. Very cool.
Imagine if all cop cars sounded like that.
I've been to a few rural counties in the Southeast
where the local Sherriff's Dept. Crown Vics
had duals, no cats and Flowmasters or turbo mufflers on them.
But officers drive Crown Vics not mercurys
it depends by state and/or county as usually police departments by cars by bulk at auction
The cops in Missouri drive tricked out V8 chargers. They are way louder then this
+Bernie Sanders Yes, I know it's an old post, but crown vics and grand marquis are both based on the panther chassis, and share the same engine and drivetrain. Pretty much the same car.
should of gave him a marauder

Papas reaction at 18:20
R.I.P. Papa🙏
Hey!.....How about a torque wrench when remounting those wheels instead of an impact wrench!?!?!?
I had to use a breaker bar to get the drain plug out of my oil pan last week, because I let someone else change my oil last time, and they must have put it on with an impact gun.
I use a torque wrench on my wheels, but I doubt many shops take the time to do it.
Bump.
Seriously, proper torque is important.
People ALWAYS have to quarterback. Can't just watch the damn video can you.
+Mathew “856GreaseMonkey” Festoff if you see something. say something.
True being a mechanic myself I very often hear "you're wasting time with your torque wrench". But hey once you explain your boss that he has a choice between losing literally 80 seconds torquing 4 wheels and having a customer that comes back angry to the shop because his wheels fell off... Just torque the wheels it's literally what sticks you to the road
Why does he look like that guy from Ratatouille
Was about to comment the same thing
+Night Mur hahaha low-key me too lmao
hahahah dead 😂
He looks like Kyle Busch
Hahaha...I spit my beer out readin that!
Nice going man! Keep your granpa feeling good.
Something that he will never forget. This video makes me happy.
Old Papa bout to be flying through that neighborhood 😂
What a Wonderful Story! You're a Wonderful Grandson!
How to properly torque your wheels on at 8:47
how to tight everything in a circular pattern
Kyle, Sorry for your loss. I watched this video this first time you posted. Just watched again. What a blessing. God bless you my friend you are a good man 😎👍
god bless popa , wish i could still see my grandfather unfortunately i missed his funeral and all. Your are blessed Saabkyle04.
My condolences. I am sure he is watching over you man.
+Daniel Cortez you ok Daniel? Somethin bothering you lately?
+Daniel Cortez lol you deserve it for saying the same on the other comment
***** Seek help
Everyone who puts balancing weights like that on a wheel, should be punished severely. Also, hitting the nuts that hard with a wheel gun is nuts...
I hate them on the front of the rims
it's a much better, more accurate balance if you use hammer on weights on the outsides of the wheels. it may look ugly but us techs do this because we are simply covering our asses. we don't want the customers coming back shortly after because of vibrations. functionality over looks is always the better option.
superfunnyman123
I'm a car tech myself, and you probably never heard of it, but there are weights that can be glued to the inside. Never have i had a customer loose one and it's impossible. We even got a balancing machine, that matches the weights to the spokes of the alloy wheel. So cutting cornes is just not the way to do it. Especially with those nice wheels. Oh and also you are damaging the rim itself while putting those on.
Exactly i worked at a Mercedes benz repair shop and i did the glue down ones on mine they stick really good and those ones on the front accumulate dirt in that area plus i like my rims to look really nice I actually had the Americans tire rebalance them because i told them to not put them on the front
If the rim is designed with a lip for hammer on weights there is a reason for that.
All that work and you cant even see the exhuast exit out the back of the car. I get it, the sounds there but something about visible tail pipes adds to the aesthetics of the car, I know I'm not the only one who thinks this.............
You're not alone.
+Shawn Van Meeteren Thanks!
true
+The C240 right!
yup that caught my eye too
The amount of love you can see coming out of papa was amazing
SWEET OF YOU TO DO THAT FOR PAPA. ENJOY
That was very nice of Borla.
What is the black box under the trunk? Why would anyone vote "thumbs down" on this great video that made Kyle's "Papa" so happy.
Charcoal canister for emissions.
Thanks. I'm so behind times!
Fuel Tank?
That's awesome... I'm doing the same thing for my dad with his 90 Ford LTD Crown Victoria.. he is 88 and has been a big Ford Lincoln owner all is life❤❤
