Hi Peter, im so lucky because i listen to you and your past bands, im a 15 yo boy and i think that we never will have this level good old bands like this. Im a bassist from Chile and you are my idol, my inspiration. Thanks for exist and Greetings.
Thank you
Peter's neighbor is lucky
His presence probably increases the whole neighborhood’s property value
Underrated comment
As always HOOKY IS THE HEART AND SOUL OF NEW ORDER WITHOUT HOOKY NEW ORDER IS A SHIT COVER BAND WITHOUT A SOUL Thanks hooky for keeping the real joy division and the real new order fresh in our hearts “'Homage' by New Order, a very early track that was never released in any form. Recorded at Western Works studios in Sheffield, September 7, 1980.” Written by barney hooky and steve
These are the words that Saint Father, said to Bernard when Ian Curtis buried, very underrated and the most depressive song
Great to hear Hooky doing his Monaco style vocals again.
Who the fuck thumbs down PH?
Barney? ;)
@@waltersmith3019 Mmmm...
Hooky and the boys smashing it, brilliant 👍
I never get tired of listening to the sound of his bass
Fucking amazing!!! Spirit of Ian lives on!!!
Never in a million years did I ever think I would hear NEW New Order. A million thanks.
It’s another new norm! Peter should be on the Guinness book of records for something!
It's not new. This is a very early NO song which was never released. However, there is a version from the Western Works demo.
Unreleased New Order songs... Not even my mom believes it
Thank you so much! Hope we'll get more Monaco too!
Sounds better than the original one I had on tape in the early 80s.
Why's everyone saying it's new??
No Peter Hook No New Order. You were the soul of the band. Keep doing your own stuff!!! This is great. Legend.
I like that one. "Movement" was on my turntable quite a bit when I was in Greece in the 1980s. Glad to see the limitations haven't stopped you guys! Encouraging!
Peter, you ready? Yep, let me get my loafers on.
So sorry this was dropped, this is an awesome song.. Sounds great guys. Always look forward to these vids. Keep em coming!
WOW!! Great to hear this with audible vocals!
Big thank you to Peter and his musicians !! A life long fan of both joy division and new order I’ve never quite been able to put into words the effect both groups had on mine and many many others lives. Through bad times through to the good times there’s always a track that resonates to how your feeling at the time. But it’s much more than that !! Thank you for a life of pure music pleasure !!
Never thought I would ever hear this track played ever again. Sounds awesome! Thank you so much 👍
thanks Peter... you are the reason I picked up bass as my instrument, forever grateful!
I have a funny story about the first time I played bass guitar. I've never owned a bass guitar and still don't. I'm a guitarist and have a Strat. But, when I was at Presidio of Monterey, CA in the early 1980s I had a friend who was in the pit orchestra for the Air Force Choir's production of the musical "Godspell." He was the original bass guitarist.
They wanted to borrow my amp. So I brought the amp over to Nakamura Hall where the band was rehearsing. My friend had to leave to go do something. I asked him if I could play the bass while he was gone. He said "Sure."
So the drummer and I jammed while he was gone. He came back and said, "You play better than me! You should be the bass player!" I said, "No, I don't want to take that away from you!" He said, "I'm only doing this as a favor for a friend. I don't really want to do it anyway."
So I said "Okay" and that's how I met my friend, Mike Leinenbach who was the musical director. He played the bass parts on the piano and recorded them on cassette and I just listened to them over and over again and played in the pit orchestra for the performances of the musical.
Yeah very Joy Division/early New Order 😎
Oh shit, Jack is back! David Potts and Hooky's voices go together like macaroni and cheese...
Here is the big question, why has nothing been painted across Hooky's bass amp? Looks rather naked.
I don't know New Order dropped this good song. It was played live maybe no more than 5 times probably...
If you wanna hear an even more obscure one, they played a song called Hour maybe a few times and scrapped it. In 2020ish Hooky did a live Q&A and didn't even remember the song himself
This version combines the lyrical audibility of the Savage version with the guitar of the Cab's Western Works recording - and great lyrics these are. Brill.
This was actually awesome.
Absolutely superb - thank you. You do need to get a new calendar though ;)
Cracking good, Hooky! Loved the collaboration with Gorillaz too!
So, so, so f***ing P-E-R-F-E-C-T! 😍 Love youuuuu!!!
Brilliant to finally see a live rendition of this tune that I have always loved.
Can't beat some Hookey bass, man
2:36 it became all worthwhile
lol i dig how he can pull off thumb rings and not seem douchie
This is music from Manchester. Greetings from Perú. Byeeee

This is just SUPERB! It's great to see Jack playing once again.
Go on Hooky
Applause from the Twin Cities, Minnesota.
And I'm 59 today. Great day to hear you!
YES! Only a few weeks ago I was looking for a version of Homage by Hook & The Light because it's one of my favorite NO songs, but I could only find one very noisy video. A professional recording is such a great surprise to me!
A Motorhead shirt makes something good even better!
Awesome. Absolutely love it
hi peter i like.. a hug from punta alta argentine for you and the band ...we want more...
Thank you. Awesome song.
Fucking awesome 👏
absolutely beautiful!!! I love it
An unreleased early New Order Track and a Motorhead T-shirt together !! Oh yes !!
Thats jack his son Amazing player also Plays for smashing pumpkins now Used to tour w hooky Awesome kid and a great guy
Who would win in a wrestling match, Lemmy or God? (I have always rated Lemmy up there with Hooky, for having created their own bass style, both legendary)
@@jeremyhinks8230 Ah, the old trick question, Lemmy IS god !! lol.
BEYOND GREAT.
Gracias a Pedro Gancho y La Luz.
"Homage" 🎶 😊🤩
Hooky must be laughing his nuts off at NO new tune. Bland Bland Bland.
Education for you.
It's a early track from demos.
1980s and a test of the new sound of new order's history
I saw them play in Germany in 1984, they played ' Skullduggery ( I think 🤔), that was never really released.
@@juju5568 I too have followed NO since the early 80s and have heard them play at a number. There is a reason that the demo in the 80s didnt get released and that would be that it was not up to the standards they set themselves at that time. The single has no real bass lines and they are a shadow of their past in my opinion. I would not buy it and i have a wonderful collection of their vinyl. ☮❤

Yeah, I have enough of joy Division/new order collection.
I ain't really bothered about buying the new box sets and reissues.
I am 54.
Got to enjoy my other music that seems to just a big part of my youth.
I can't stand the music today.
Glad to hear Liminanas and The National.
🤝
Same here, dont need to buy reissues. Seems to be a bit of a money spinner so good luck to them. Did not buy the last album and wont buy the new album either. Such a shame as they are one of my favourite bands and played loads at home along with Unknown pleasures and Closer. Just not the same without Hookie.
Read Hookies books recently, i know they are one sided but quite an insight into the bands dynamics.
@@chriswitham4066
I guess we were rather spoilt in the late 1970/early 80's with so many bands
Around.
I don't own any vinyl collection now.
I have all on CDs.
I do prefer vinyl, however it is just music.
I have seen hundreds of bands over the years.
I wouldn't say new order were the best live performance, but entertaining.
I would say The Durutti column and Echo & the Bunnymen were simply brilliant.
Maybe, The Chameleons and Siouxsie Banshees aswell were amazing in my experience.
I used to write to several people around the UK, for almost a decade on writing music fanzines.
I even had a French ( Female/mate), She would send me reviews on New Order gigs.
It was time consuming hobby and fun.
Just wait until Gillian's Gilbert's book is published. 😇
Y’all are gods
great song Peter!
Yes!!!! :)
Again, this just proves to the naysayers, that Hooky and The Light are superior to NO,not only live, but also in the "studio" - a true return to the original NO sound - you gotta come back to New Zealand when this Covid19 shit eases up
This isn't a new song. It's a very early NO song which wasn't released on any album. It was played a few times late 1980 / early 1981.
@@DarkPlace1980 yep,I've been collecting their material since they were Warsaw in 1978,and was aware of this back around '80-'81,but this performance of it by Hooky and The Light is streets ahead of what NO have just released...cheers
awesome song love it peter
I'm shaking here!! Amazing! A NEW New Order song. I love it. Replaying over and over!
New?
This is one of New Order's earliest songs they played live but was never released, apart from the Western Works demo.
Desde Perú, felicidades!!! un abrazo!!
Great to see Jack back in the lineup.
Hes his son right?
Thank you.Keep the videos coming.
Holy hell I love this song.
I used to get tips from John Peel's show on BBC World Service over shortwave in the late 80s early 90s. I worked for a Rock FM station in my hometown and John was my hottest source.
superb! love this song :)
Who's playing the rhythm guitar track?? Great song.
It's David Potts who already played together with Hook as Monaco.
Jack hookys son on bass Great guy
This somehow slipped under my radar but I just love it. Thank you for endlessly touring Hooky and the Light. The band is a gift to Joy Division/New Order fans!!! We've seen you live seven times with another three times booked x1 in Sydney and x2 in Melbourne - bring it on!!
excellent love that base
You guys can turn up.
Great work, as per usual lads :)
quality tune, brilliant
Too Late next!!
Great to see more of you, looking forward to more from this set
Love it.
Do Caralho! Caruaru-PE Brasil
Awesome Hookey, nice dancing!♥️♥️
Fantastic!
Very upbeat musically
Absolutely superb ! Goosebumps.
this is a great version better than those old bootlegs.
Great song. Love the Hooky jam at the end!
Great as always, big corker😁😁
Very cool
HEY, WElcome back Jack, been a while.
Jack rocks
I have met them all several times over the years, Jack is a great bassist, and a nice guy. Last time I saw them, there was a new guy named Fred playing. Paul explained "Jack has been kidnapped by Smashing Pumpkins". Not a bad stint to play, if friends of his dad wanna borrow him for a bit. Good to see him back in the gang for now.
Jack, should be in a British band.
Not Smashing pumpkins.
However, I really like them, but Jack could definitely keep the faith in playing music from both joy Division/ early new order.
👏 Jack, will get plenty of offers to join other musicians
His;Dad will be extremely proud of him.
I wonder what his daughter will do in her life/career?
@@juju5568 I have found that most successful pro musicians do not "encourage" their kids to take it up as a career, if the kids want to parents often say no, or really push them to make sure that is what they want to do. Annie Lennox did a great job with her daughter Lola, having her wait till her craft had been perfected, and helped her navigate the industry, for the most part, its a rare thing to see them go forward with it. Jack is an exceptional bass player, and not just skilled to play his dad's style (which he invented), he did well with Smashing Pumpkins, and he was wearing Motorhead tshirt, which shows his incredible taste in bassists. I admit, I took up playing bass because of Peter Hook, I learned every note the guy ever thumped out. I was wanting to be Jack, the guy who could stand in should they need a Hooky substitute. I never bothered to learn other bass lines till a few years ago, it was then that I realized, Hookys stuff is REALLY inventive, and hard, I picked up so many other bass lines quickly. Hooky's work is not easy to do. The only other lines I found to be that hard were Raven's from Killlng Joke. Who, also worshipped Hooky. Just a great family for bassists all around.
@@guyphawkes
Interesting.
It does seem that everyone from a musical background
Can have some influence on their kids to learn an instrument of some kind.
Most bands that were making punk records were self taught, or just simply didn't care about the way they played.
I don't blame Hooky, for leaving New order for a few reasons.
He was must of got bored with doing less in the studio work on albums.
A bit of frustration for him, However
Bernard, was more interested in doing electronic pop music, that was less bass playing.
Fine time and World ( price of love), were quite boring tracks.
I really like the sound killing joke.
I have only seen them play live once.
When new order, signed to Mute records, you can hear the same melodies and rhythms of commercialism.
I really like the track 'the gift ' by The Liminanas (2018).
Hooky, additional bassline is 🎩👌
I wouldn't mind seeing them play?
Last time i heard this live was in Warsaw in 2016, gotta play this more Hooky
Great!
Yesssss 4:27 am and here I am
Woooooooow GOLD✔✔✔✔✔✔✔
has a late 80's Nick Cave vibe:)
Glad We could See Potsy on Your You Tube Channel, Couldn't see Him on the John Peel Event that started at 7:30PM
owned!
The only question is why Peter is standing in front of a 2015 calendar?
Its a junk room Like a garage for gear
That year’s tour was a great one so we kept the calendar up.
@@PeterHookAndTheLight Just ball busting - lifelong fan here!
Plz kept this up, so nice to see
what a tune that is btw
❤️💯🍻
Brilliant
Sounds like the spirit of Ian Curtis helped write this song
If I'm correct, Movement tracks were Joy Division/Ian Curtis carry over after the tragedy...so Ian likely did write this song
@@eddunn3021 okies yeah I'm supposed to be a fan of both new order and joy division though movement is my least played album so that makes sense. I do love ICB from that album though
"Homage" is one of the first songs New Order wrote and recorded as a demo after Ian Curtis' death. It wasn't released officialy until last year's Movement Definitive Edition. Quite a dark song even for early New Order.
@@eddunn3021 thank heavens for that, I am still a half way decent fan then
I've done a cover of no love lost (best song ever), novelty (also the best) and transmission (what? No definately the best) on my RUclips channel from about 10 years ago. I've loved new order from age 11 and JD from about 13. Such cool music to grow up with coz music from when you're that age shapes you in some way and stays with you all your life
Plugado! Bass for Nero 🎸

Grand!
i wanna know what pedals he’s using down there
Nice dancing!
