Hi, Danny! I love your churlish nun story. When I was a kid I wrote a poem about a girl in a "garden gazebo." The nun who taught English class insisted there was no such thing, that I had made up the word and the concept, and she gave me an F. A friend brought in a big old dictionary to show her that yes, there was such a word as "gazebo" and yes, gazebos are often found in gardens. The nun still insisted there was no such thing, that we were both wrong. Wish I could live in such a universe. The story makes me laugh to this day, and I hope your story makes you laugh. I love your videos! I love your advice. I look forward to seeing more of her pelargonium garden!
What a beautiful story about you and your swallowtail. There is a sort of symbolism in that moment; you are here creating videos intended to feed all of us sick butterflies who just need some nurturing before we’re ready to go off on our own orchid adventures. I think you should write about it. 😊
Hi Danny, I love your videos, I have a pink one, I also love plants and flowers. I like to watch plant videos also the orchid ones , thanks, can't wait for the next one🎉
Lovely Stories Danny, about when you where a child and the plants are Super on your windowsill! Happy Gardening! Call the Butterflies and they will come to you ❤🌸🦋
Omg! I thought they were geraniums! I have one that was once my moms, she passed away 13 years ago and its still alive and I've been propigating, so i have like 8 plants now! Maybe they are from the same family? Update, duh..im an idiot. They are also known as geraniums!
Hi Danny, in Australia we call them geraniums but sadly not many variations however, they do love to climb. Enjoy them, they're so hardy not requiring too much water
I loved the nun story and felt bad that you were so mortified. I thought the nun should have put it a little more kindly, explained that they cannot give a way clippings because hundreds of other people would want them too, etc. However I think the nun should have made an exception for a 6 year old child that wanted the clipping I would certainly give her one. I was once mortified by my algebra teacher in front of the entire class in 8th grade. I know how it feels.
Hi, Danny. I love your videos, they’ve helped me so much in taking care of my first orchids. I wouldn’t know what to do otherwise as there is so much information out there. I do not know what I should do with one of my orchids and need some help. I have a phalaenopsis orchid which went through a transplant shock, lost over half its roots and which I am now growing in moss. Thankfully it is now growing new roots, but I’m not sure how to keep the moss on the top of the pot hydrated where the roots are growing. The top layer dries very fast, but he bottom layer of moss stays wet though. I’m not sure if I should wait for everything to dry, as I do not want to promote fungus growth by consistently adding water to the top of the pot. What would you recommend?
I know that this video isn't about fertilizing orchids, but I just received 4 new orchid start and was wondering if you can put the fertilizer in the water that is used for soaking the plants?
In USA they are called Ivy geraniums. I had these and in my area they got infested with beatles and they were eaten down to nothing. ☹They were scented also. So I never bought them again. I am trying to grow daisies inside though lol
Scented leaf pelargonium are my absolute favourite plants to use as bedding in the summer. Mine die over the winter here in the uk in my garden. But I keep my fave ones in the house , or take cuttings to propagate over the winter ready for summer. I’ve got rose scented ones and even a cola scented one. The scented ones are more expensive , but they are wonderful & worth it for me. I even have a wish list of ones I would like 🤣. I’ve grown and sold hundreds over the years. The ones like yours are the most floriferous I find & the most easy going. They look like the ivy leaf kind. The scented ones seem to flower way less & they aren’t so vigorous, all are so charming though. I’ve even found one that had orchid like flowers , I will try and remember its name. I must must get a citronella plant to try and deter mosquitos .
Exciting!! I'm currently growing some Appleblossom Maverick Geraniums from seed! I'm in SoCal so we have similar climates and why I watch your videos so much for reference! Good luck with your outdoor garden!! It's great we can garden year round!
Hi Danny, I am so happy for you and your garden, its wonderful to see how much joy its bringing to you already. Those plants look like geraniums to me, do you know if they are in the same family? I am really looking forward to watching your garden grow!!
@@MissOrchidGirlDanni, I believe the plants you have are called ivy geraniums here in Canada. (I know they are properly pelargoniums.) I remember correctly, the zonal pelargoniums have a reddish mark in the centre of the leaf.
My mom used to grow these all over when i was little! If you do end up looking into named varieties, see if they have one called Vancouver Centennial, I remember growing it one year and it was my absolute favorite, just gorgeous
It's amazing what sticks out in our minds as children! It's also unfortunate that a woman who is supposed to spread the love of Jesus would be so curt with a little child. Jesus said not to suffer the little children from coming to him in Matthew chapter 18 of the King James Bible. That being said, it is not religion that saves us from our sin and Hell. It's the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and his shed blood that paid our price. If you believe and tell him so, his spirit will come into you and lead you into all truth. Please look up John 3:16-18 in a King James Bible and be blessed.❤🙏🏻
The number one balcony flower, here in Germany, and Austria. There's nothing more beautiful than a wooden balcony with pelargoniums trailing down from top of the railing. I always disliked the smell of the leafs though, so I prefer to love them from a distance, 😅.
love these plants and they smell so weird but oddly enough i enjoy the smell of the leaves they are prone to mealy bugs so definitely keep em away from orchids i place them in a medium to large hanging basket the red orange ones are my favorite. they do well here up until the last summer by then its so hot that they wilt.
The Romanian monasteries look a lot like the interior courtyards of Spain and Andalusia, so it's surprising, wow, they are very far away countries. Greetings from Spain :)
Hi Danny! Omg the title of this video definitely got my attention!😂. I also love pelargoniums or as we call them geraniums here. I especially like the scented ones and it looks like you have the same nutmeg scented ivy leafed one I have with pinkish purple flowers. I love it! It will trail and get very long. Also, one thing I’ve learned over the years is don’t apologize for your faith or religion. If someone gets offended by a persons faith, whatever it is, that is that person’s issue. I am a deeply religious person and I respect other people’s choice of faith or lack thereof. I also hate to ask people for help and prefer to be independent. However, I have learned that people actually LIKE to help others. God did not create us to be independent. He created us to be a community and help each other. So I am here to tell you that I would LOVE to help you in anyway I can if you ever need it because you have helped me tremendously with my orchids and my mental health. And I didn’t even have to ask! ❤. Thank you for all you do and your wonderful stories. I also have rescued butterflies, bees, birds, frogs toads, you name it!
Hi, thank you, but I am not religious at all. I agree there is no shame in being any religion you want, just as long as it doesn’t harm anyone and it’s not pushed down people’s throats :) I asked people to not be offended because I know it’s a touchy subject and typically I avoid it at ALL costs, but it is part of the story so it’s unavoidable, I just wanted to make sure people don’t get the wrong impression in thinking I am accusing anyone of anything, that’s all, I don’t judge people over faith, orientation, culture etc. just by their actions 🤭🧡
@@MissOrchidGirl I completely agree! I long for a world where we don’t have to worry about people being offended by others beliefs and opinions. I prefer to agree to disagree unless like you said, someone is being harmed or it is being shoved down peoples throats. Here in the US the political situation is just atrocious and it just amazes me how every presidential election I see people I care about, who are basically good people start behaving badly in the name of their political candidate and people who have been friends for decades alienate each other and never speak again. It is so very sad especially because in my opinion, none of the candidates are worth losing a friend over or even a nice acquaintance over. It’s all so foolish.

Hi Danny. So happy to see you enjoy your garden and the praying mantises too❤❤❤. You are a kindly soul to save butterflies🦋🌺🦋💐
Love these ❤ I never heard or seen them before. Thanks for sharing ❤
Hi Danny. I love that you are including us in your garden adventures, and your stories are so sweet ❤
Danny you are a story teller!! A very good one!😊

Hi Danny. Your young geraniums look like the vining type. Best withes with them.
I love to SEE the transition to having a yard! Fingers crossed it happens to me soon. Meanwhile i enjoy watchin your videos as allways! ❤
Beautiful. They look like Geraniums here in the U.S.
Hi, they are pelargoniums scientifically , but in some territories people refer to them as Geraniums. I’m not sure where the confusion started :)

Also known as geraniums. Apparently very easy to grow and they can get very bushy.

Hello Danny love ur channel.. I do have a question is a bush lily, and it does have other names, is it a kind of orchid?
I love Geraniums! We even have scented ones ❤ Yours are beautiful!
I went to catholic school for 12 years. They were not always nice. So ironic.
It's possible the nuns even bred the pallergoniums bc most monasteries have full-blown, professional grade greenhouses...
Oooh good point! I don’t remember a greenhouse on the property but it could have been somewhere else in the village :)

Would it happen to be P. graveolens?
Aren't those geraniums?
Love the stories of the swallowfail and mantises 💕🦋 Long-time viewer of your channel since the early days! Thank you for your wonderful content! 😊

Is that the same as what I call a geranium? In south africa
I think so. Their leaves look identical as what we call geraniums in the US.

I love Geraniums as well ! I wish they would overwinter here in the United States.
