Just watched Gary Woodland surprise this young lady with an in person visit on the TODAY show where they brought her and her Dad on the show to talk about this moment and her relationship that has now been formed with Gary, but she didn't know that he was going to show up (with US Open Trophy in hand!). Professional athletes, regardless of your sport, TAKE NOTE!!!! Lots' of people hold these professional athletes in their minds and hearts as their heros. Here's a guy that takes that role seriously. He's humble and he is a true role-model. Congratulations, Gary, on being the US Open Champion. You are obviously a great golfer...you are a greater person. Many of these other sports "heros" can take a lesson from Mr. Woodland. This is how you do it.

I recognize a moment shared like this one is not unique to America, but there are some moments that make me glad this happened IN America. It reflects what we yanks always believe we are at our core: helpers of all... believers in “moments” and that, despite what people may say of you or how many times you might fail, or how smart (or not) some may think you are... there are the few, privileged moments where “I can do this” is the measure of the person. She could BE Tiger. She could BE Nicklaus. For one shining moment. Thank you to all that gave this young lady that amazing chance to be what she believed she could be. I wish this for all my countrymen. It was a good day.

All it takes is 1% of us to accidently thumb down. I much prefer to think at 16 out of 1500 are accidental thumbs down

Stu, there’s a mean underside to the internet. That’s why I’ve basically given up on Twitter. The toxic, poisonous trolls just can’t abide with good upbeat stories.

I just became a Gary Woodland fan. Someone to cheer for in PGA events. I didn't know who he was before this video.

Unforgettable for all involved, I'm thinking especially Amy's mom and dad. Loved Woodland and Kuchar even before this. Way to go, Amy!

There are many players on Tour that I am a fan of. I never not liked Gary, bit I didn't know to much about him or his path...this I can say, MAD RESPECT, and there is no player on Tour I will be routing for harder than Gary Woodland moving forward. Rock on brother. Congrats on the Open. Congrats on being a kind person as well and not a brat liked Jordan Spieth
