I’ve had a very hard life, suffered trauma, abuse, loss of loved ones, suffered from alcohol addiction. I always lived by what Rocky says in this. I joined the military, pushed myself hard, and now in school for law enforcement training. I always been willing to take the hits.
I first watched this when i was 19 years old. I kept the full quote as my PC wallpaper for months. I'm 36 and tomorrow I'm having the biggest interview of my life. I'm gonna win.
This is why stories and stuff like this is so important. Not everyone has the luxury of learning these things the "right" way. But we all have to learn them eventually.
I feel you brother. My dad has never been a part of my life either. God willing one day if I get kids of my own I'll make damn sure to be the best father I can be for them. It's speeches like this that remind us what we should be
What’s even crazier about this scene is that Sylvester Stallone (the actor) came from nothing and now he’s worth $400M or more this man is an example to follow a LEGEND truly.
You have to live that kinda life in order to understand…and that’s why Stallone can deliver these type of speeches with such conviction because he was that man living in the struggle back then when life was knocking him down… And in Over the Top he delivered some good ass motivational speeches too about being a man and doing shit for yourself because as he said “The world meet NOBODY halfway”
@@jaymac8496 DUDE Over The Top is a masterpiece of a film, and yes i agree. He doesn’t have to be convincing because he’s lived it and went directly through it. I’m an aspiring actor and I haven’t necessarily been motivated but that may be one of the reasons, since I may not be hungry enough.
@@iiWeemann also read The Rocks story too, people thought that just cuz his pops was a wrestler and his grandmother own a wrestling promotion that they was loaded but it was further from the truth…
"Cowards do that and that ain't you!" That hit me hardest because I have been a coward and have went the easy route blaming others way too many times in the past.
Don't feel bad... Most of us, if not all of us, have done the same one time or another... The important part is realizing you're on the wrong path and changing. If you did so, kudos to you, because this also takes a lot of courage.
Bro I was a coward when I was in school but I learned that there are no friends in life just family me I was a herion addict for 15 yrs so I have no fear anymore
I knew an Army Vet who desperately needed this talk. Dude used to be a badass, he used to keep fighting, but for years after his service he just blamed everyone else for every problem in his life. He died from liver failure because he treated himself like shit and would never pick himself up, no matter how much you lifted him. I wish he had a Rocky that could get through to him, I sure couldn’t.
"You must be willing to take a hit." That part always hits the hardest, because it's the truth. We're all scared of putting ourselves out there. We're scared of the world, of the people, the negativity. But it's necessary to beat that fear, because that's what's really keeping you down. Be willing to take risks, take punches, learn from your mistakes if you fail. The more hits you take, the less they will hurt. Everything you've ever wanted is on the other side of your fear.
“It ain’t about how hard you hit, its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much you can take and keep moving forward, that’s how winning is done” this quote and this movie literally helped me pick myself up from my lowest point, and push me forward, It will always push me forward.
My friend on tik tok posted this and I saw it and came here a year ago and watched this. She saved my life I was living on my office floor estranged from my family because my ex made me pick her and my kids or my family. I kept paying her bills and couldn’t afford a place I was ready to not wake up. I listened to the last line “don’t forget to visit your mother” I called my mom and told her I needed her and I was driving over right then. I literally hugged my mom for the first time in years and collapsed crying on her she’s 5’ I’m 5’9” she didn’t even move. She’s the strongest woman I’ve ever known, I literally remember thinking “I forgot how tiny you are”
Played this for my sister 2 months ago. She was 27 and I’m 31. She suffered addiction and sadly I lost her a few days ago. I came back to this video because it made me feel like I tried. We all tried. Everybody out there who’s lost someone I feel your pain. Just remember tomorrow is never promised.
I feel like Stallone is constantly under-estimated as an actor. He's been typecast as this cheesy action figure, but the performance in this scene is just as powerful as any Oscar winner I have ever seen. I hope in the future he gets more serious acting roles.
actually he wrote an directed and stared in all but the first rocky movie, he also wrote and directed the last rambo, he wrote the screenplay for rambo 2, and wrote rambo 3...if u go down the list of his movies he wrote and directed nearly all of em so yes hes typcasted but hes typcasting himself its his thing and he enjoys it and makes HUGE $$$$ doin it pretty sure hes just fine with his career, u know since hes wrote his own career for himself
I agree with you 100% he should have definitely gotten an Oscar for just this scene alone! The thing is I've been through some tough shit in my life and I've seen almost all the others but right after I hear the words
Good advice, REAL advice, is just good advice. It doesn't matter where it came from. Ever heard the quote, "Heroism is endurance, For just a moment more"? Ever know who said it? It was a guy named George F. Kennan. Who's that? I dunno, it doesn't matter to me, it's straight facts, and facts don't give two shits who states them, because real is real. Inspiration can come from anywhere and yeah, it kinda sucks that we don't always get it from thise we expect it from, but if you do get it, are you gonna turn it down just because it came from someone you didn't expect it from? I hope not... ✌

This is so true, I had a kidney removed in 2019 due to cancer. Last month I found it it came back. We have to keep getting up every time we are knocked down. I watch this every once in awhile to remind myself how life throws these punches at us! Stay strong everyone and take care.
If it helps or if you believe me, i've read that starving the cancer helps, dropping seed oils, sugars, and doing intermmitent fasting, also try probiotic drinks, Kefir or kombucha tea. God bless
My father needed me to help him battle cancer. Yet he wanted me to keep studying. He lost the fight. I lost my only family. But... I graduated. I did 22 interviews for fear I’d have no help and I needed a job. The last interview?.... I....it pays 90,000. I got it.

The Fact that Stallone himself wrote that script and the quote makes it all the more genuine,Because like many say in the comment section. He’s not only talking to his son, He is talking to all of us. I hope Stallone knows that he helped and gave a lot of people strength.
I remember when I was 12, I didn’t make the football team 2 times in a row, my dad was out in the military and sent me this, I watched it one time, and the next year, I was a starter lineman.
This speech makes me cry! I didn't even get into the Rocky franchise, but the message of "It doesn't matter how many times you get knocked down, it's how many times you get back up" really gets to me! ❤️
I know probably nobody is going to read this, but I want to let it out anyway. This year has been by far the roughest year I have ever been through, just like has been very rough for almost anyone. I really have felt like giving up on many of the things that are worth pursuing , I started to lose hope that my life would ever improve. Then I came across this scene, it helped me regain my strength. It reminded me that this pain is only temporary, that things can get better if I am willing to fight for them. It helped me stand up again, even after all the times I have been kicked down. Thank You, Stallone, for helping me and so many others regain confidence in ourselves and for reminding us that suffering and hard times, are just a part of life.
When I get beaten down again and again , I am glad god gave me arms and legs to stand up and fight again and again , some people don’t even have this option . This year haves been tough but hang in there . Light is at the end of the tunnel .

I can remember at 15 downloading this clip into audio and falling asleep at night to it on repeat for weeks straight... this scene changed my life and helped so much
When I first saw this movie back in 2006, I was 23 and thought it was a great speech but after 14 more years of living I hear it now and that line "it will beat you to your knees and leave you there permanently if you let it" - really resonates, such an accurate statement about life!
I agree, in 2006 I was at a crossroads in my life as well, moving on from my job at a lumber yard and taking community college classes. It was new territory and I knew at times it was going to challenge me, however no matter what happened good or bad I never gave up. Hearing Rocky say these things to his son really resonated with me and where I was at the time.

Armyguywizerdo16 the best advice i can give you is that be 100% sure that you want to become a medical doctor because the journey is hard as hell, i mean literally studying all day kind of hard (before exams) and you better comprehend what your studying now is rookie level , keep in mind that some periods you will study for an entire month (2 weeks before exams + the 2 exam weeks). so unless your 100% sure dont make the mistake in getting in. good luck in whatever dreams you have

The words from Sly in this scene are absolutely spot on. Imagine how society would be if people actually held themselves accountable and had less of the "victim mentality" that's rampant today?!
I used to listen to this everyday before working my 14 + hour shifts. Started applying for different roles and kept getting turned down. Took me almost 2 years to get the job I have now. Because of this clip.
And one thing parents don’t teach well is that you don’t have to be like everyone else or like somebody else because for some of us we just can’t be. Being who we are without giving a thought about other negative comments and putdowns is all we can and must do
"Now, if you know what you're worth then go out and get what you're worth, but you gotta be willing to take the hits." That line gets me everytime. The path forward is a long and hard one, but an ultimately rewarding one. Follow your dreams, take nothing for granted, and it will fall into place. And remember, always be willing to take the hits.
I know this is a cliche.. But I saw this movie and this speech a couple of years ago. I was in a very dark place. I didn't believe in myself and the whole world was my mountain. I grew up as a confident kid, and out of nowhere I was strucked down. It was not worth it anymore. Today, I'm a lawyer, I have the best friends in the world, but most importantly, I wake up happy. Every day. I still remember watching this speech. The world really is a horrible place, but you need to take the hits. If you're one of the ones struggling.. I'll give you my word.. It gets better!
Bro young you and me are the exact same. You just described me... don’t take this weirdly but I think you and me would’ve been great friends. The only difference is the age. I’m still in high school and you’re an adult. I hope you your promise proves right.
Tommy, this gave me chills. The first time I heard this speech was back in 2011 when I was in the 8th grade; my sister sent this video to me. I too was going through a rough patch in life, my parents had split up, grandpa died, physical and mental abuse, suicidal thoughts, transferring schools and leaving all my friends behind, it was all a lot to take in within the span of a year; for a 13 year old. I had another depression phase back in 2017-2018 and at the end of 2020. Your statement, “I wake up happy” makes me emotional, I’m so happy for you. I too can say I’m on that path and I no longer am depressed and suicidal. It’s great. I’m on the path to becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner as I would like to be someone’s push against their mountains, as I too know how it feels to struggle with mental health. I would struggle in silence and no one had a clue. My parents were raised in a place where they had to be tough, which would cause them to bottle their feelings up; I did the same. Now I’m brutally honest with my feelings, but I feel relief and freedom that I say what is on my chest. This generational curse ends with me, and I’m willing to help other’s break theirs as well.
@@powering_star8099 Apologies for my late answer. I'm sure we would be great friends. Please keep doing your thing. You'll get back to yourself. From him yelling ""Adrian" in Rocky I to her to her standying by him in the broke times in Rocky V and "Your losing your family speech" (no one give credit for that speech). Behind that speech he was thinking of Adrian, the "Silent Hero".
My Dad would always refer me to this scene. And he passed in November last year because of COVID. Even prior to his passing, I would only ever imagine my Dad telling me this himself vs Rocky saying it. Now that’s he’s gone & things are starting to seem like they fall into place even as I deal with this suffering. I’ll always refer back to this and think of my Dad every time.

Everything falls into place as it should be regardless of where we want those pieces to fall. Sometimes they work in our favor. Sometimes they don't. Alot of the time they don't and in a way, he was trying to tell you that you will struggle and not like it but you will survive every time and get right back up. until you take your last breath, you will fight and fall down but every single time, you will get up and continue to fight whatever has fallen in front of you. Any which way possible ,you will find a way. I don't know your father but humans tend to remember how they themselves went through experiences and pass it on and maybe that's why this resonated so hard for him to tell you. Maybe because he struggled but came out of it and kept going. Maybe it was for you. Maybe it was just to survive. No idea but he has fought so you can continue his glory. Continue his path. Continue his fight but better yet, keep pursuing yours.

Ive has horrible pain since I was a kid and I’m still in horrible every single day and I probably will be till I die. I’ve been hospitalized literally dozens of times. I’ve almost died multiple times and it wasn’t fun. I’ve experienced some horrible things that I’ll always remember. I’ve been hit and knocked down many times but I always got back up. I held on to the things in life that mattered to me the most and pushed through it. Always remember that you can always get through whatever life hits you with and move on.

"You must be willing to take a hit."
That part always hits the hardest, because it's the truth.
That is why Medieval Times was more successful era. People were allowed to be themselves and take what they deserved without someone dialing 911. 😏

Over analysing things is a awful part of life, but you'll run in to people that you love and believe in. Then your experiences won't be a problem, they'll be something that you will be able to bring to the conversation and something that makes you understand other people. Take care brother
@@abigailf6021 Do me a favour and keep doing what you do!
I know law is not the way to help my brothers and sisters that went through the same shit I did. But it was something that I loved. If you can bring your interest to help people that go through the same trouble as we did.. you're a queen. Thank you
Thanks for the uplifting words man.
My favorite part: “The world ain’t about sunshines and rainbows, it’s a very mean and nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees”

Why do we fall? So we can learn to rise. 👽
I wish more kids my age suffering from depression or gender dysphoria or whatever the hell knew this every breathing second.
I like how your favourite part is the depressing bit before it gets inspirational
Which is why Twitter users should watch this clip. 😂
This was my dad’s favorite movie. I lost him to covid. Whenever I breakdown and can’t function I watch this on repeat and pretend he is telling me this. I spent most my time at the gym and bettering my self these days. I now know why he loved this movie so much. I love you dad. You will forever live on through this with me ❤️
😢
RIP
rip! but you sure it was covid
I'm sorry for your loss.
@@jaspergabriels8933 shut up Jasper!
My dad passed away suddenly and unexpectedly when I was 19. This scene makes me cry every time I watch it. And I watch it a lot because I think my dad would have said something similar to me if the situation had presented itself
Sorry for your loss.
My condolences for your loss. All that I can hope is that you may one day take comfort in the fact that you had that type of father. Some of us go 25 years only being told what we won’t become and won’t achieve. We will always strive to become someone like your dad, even over our own.
Man you are so soft

Nice to hear this 😊,
I can understand this feeling.
I lived on skid row LA for months to die
I watched this scene over and over and I finally wanted to live
It saved my life
Yeah it saved mine to at my lowest everytime I stopped doing half the stuff I used to and I'm now motivated to become a fireman
Same. Tonight too
You are more valuable than you can ever know fam, please remember these words whenever you feel down.
“Everyday was like a privilege”
Gets me every time.
Specially now that I'm a father. I REALLY can understand this...

I applied to more than 100+ companies for a job, and I got rejected from all of them. I was depressed and lost all of my confidence, but this video helped me so much to push myself forward during that time. And recently I got a job offer.
I'll value this video and quote forever in my life
Update (September): Thank you for all the comments. I’ve kept this message and worked my a** off, then I got the promotion recently. What a journey! If you’re going through some tough times right now, one day, you’ll make it. I could, so can you.
theres nothing wrong with getting rejected from a few jobs, but 100+ my guy? i dont know what you did to make 100+ places reject you, in a row. dear god
You got rejected because they weren't a fit for you. You'll find a job that'll make you appreciate being rejected to the other jobs.
@@黒キツネ-九零二一零 I've gotten rejected to 1000s of places throughout my career but I keep applying.
@@黒キツネ-九零二一零 it happens brother. I’m on the same boat… two Masters.. and over 15+ experience both civilian and military and still no job offer … it hits hard because u set yourself for things and put expectations but the world works in a different way …
@Teru … I know your pain …I’m going through the same plus little things that bug here and there… just today got two emails today one hour apart from each with companies rejecting my application… not easy things to process …. Sometimes you want throw in the towel but I cannot find myself to do it
Whenever you go through tough times go through adversity hearing him say it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward really hits different

This is why Sylvester Stallone is a genius! To be able to write this and act this out and send a positive message in every Rocky movie! Thank You Sly for always giving us all inspiration and motivation in life! Cause that's what Rocky is....not a boxing movie but a movie about life!
Stallone is underrated. He had a message he wanted to tell the world, as an artist. All the decades of story telling and hard work led up to this scene.
Even the mess that is Rocky 5? Yes
@@josemiguelfernandezdelrio7515 That’s the only Rocky film he didn’t write himself and it shows.
never had a father figure in my life im 29 and this has helped me for years
Same here, pal. My dad was the opposite of a good father figure. Abusive, harsh and close minded. Never taught me a thing about life. Never gave me advice or even a kind word. Only insults, "X does better than you" and other comparisons and a shitload of beatings for nothing. As I grew, I became a self-made man. I learned how to behave, how to work hard, how to be a protector, how to do the right things. But I wish I had someone to look up to in my childhood and teenage years.
I never had a father in my life. The older I get, the more I realise how important it is to have a man in your life.

2016. My father passed away all of a sudden. I lost my job 2 months later. I find a new job, but I can’t stand it. So every morning after leaving my daughter at the school, and sayig good bye to my wife I drive along the road crying for myself. This clip, his words coming out of the speakers in that car, was the only thing keeping me on the road and not in the river.
Dude don't give up you got greater purpose and your daughter needs you! Trust me everything will be bette rbut you just have to work for it! Please respond i would really like to know how you are today?
I am glad you’re okay just keep pushing through whatever in your life makes you want to give up this is one of the most inspirational videos/ quotes of all time and when I was going through terrible things in my life I just always remmeber to get back up and try again because I’m the only thing standing in my way. I pray for you and I hope you can believe in yourself as others do too.
Hang in there! It’ll get better for you!
@Kemal Akeren why do we fall so we can know how to rise ourselves up again
I'm glad to hear that you're still here.
One of the most underrated scenes of all time..and the last statement “don’t forget to visit your mother” understated yet speaks volumes…amazing
Nick Sainis Yep, like saying "honer her. She was why I was able to get up and hit back and succeed." From him yelling ""Adrian" in Rocky I to her to her standying by him in the broke times in Rocky V and "Your losing your family speech" (no one give credit for that speech). Behind that speech he was thinking of Adrian, the "Silent Hero".
Talk that shit 😎✊🏽👌🏽💪🏽🤝🏽
My Dad would always refer me to this scene. And he passed in November last year because of COVID. Even prior to his passing, I would only ever imagine my Dad telling me this himself vs Rocky saying it. Now that’s he’s gone & things are starting to seem like they fall into place even as I deal with this suffering. I’ll always refer back to this and think of my Dad every time.
I’m sorry for your loss man
Bless u brother.
am a medical student , my friends are all scattered across the world, i habe been sentenced to a year course and my mom has rheumatoid arthiritis and i have to go from an average student to a top student or else it's game over, the tuition fees was far too high and i fail everyday but i clench my teeth and tell myself things will get better, i have been doing that for the past 4 years , and I am beginning to doubt if I can seriously change, it is in this moment that I must absolutely be strong
I hope my daughter says the same when I'm gone.
Until you start believing in yourself, you ain't gonna have a life. Damn Sly, that is DEEP.
I lost my son June 4th 2022. I can't tell you how many times I sent this to my son. When my son get into a dark spot I would send this to him the part that really hits home is when Rocky yells at him and tells him that's what cowards do and that ain't you you're better than that.. the part where he says you're my son I'm always going to love you. He's my son I will always love him rest in peace Ray I love you pal

“It ain’t about how hard you hit, its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much you can take and keep moving forward, that’s how winning is done” - Something that I desparately needed to hear while I'm all alone
This is one of the greatest speeches of all time.
His words are so painfully true.
I’ve lived a rough life like so many other people.
I’ve had a chronic disease since the day I was born.
Lucky ASMR thank you.
Proud.
Just remember, you are still lucky, you _almost_ died, but didn't.
Thx for letting us know
Lucky ASMR you’ve cheated pain and death your whole life. Hell you’ve even had trauma. That sounds like a pretty good superhero origin story to me. 🙂
I live by this speech. I deal with depression and whenever I return to this quote, I get renewed confidence and a renewed desire to get my life back on track
