Thanks! This Motor will make somebody happy for a low cost. If it was a short shaft I'd keep it. One lake has lowered the motor limits from 10hp down to 8hp. So i need a 7.5 cover to put on my 9.9 These politicians have nothing better to do with their time!! Thanks for watching, Best of Luck.............
A really good video explains exactly how to take the carburetor off. Now all I need to do is figure out why gas keeps dripping out of the bottle is it a stuck needle valve with the float?
Hello, I have a Mercury 9.8 2t of a similar year and I have a problem with it. The engine runs relatively smoothly with the choke slightly extended, without it it does not reach high speeds and chokes. What could be the reason? Regards
I got a 76 Merc mod 110- 9.8 practically the same thing you have for free on New Orleans Free Stuff Craigslist. Gas was not getting to the carb, and I saw that the gas line was ran to the carb fuel pump like this one shows going around the front of the carb. There was too much of a bend where the hose connected to the carb/fuel pump and it had sat up a long time and hardened so practically no gas was making it to the carb. I bought a new piece of hose and routed it over the top of the carb and turned the inlet carb port straight up and it started right up, If the hose is not a factory hose with a designed bend in it and is just a straight piece of cut hose it needs a little distance from the bend to the carb inlet or it will kink. Not saying this is your problem but often it is simple things like that.
Very nice thank you for showing it on you tube have a nice day.
Sounds like the day it came out of the factory. Looking forward to your water pump video. Great job.

I'd start with brand new gas. Check to confirm that the fuel screen at the carburetor is clear.
@@repairrestoreresell2026 And what mixture do you pour?
50 to 1
@@repairrestoreresell2026 When I did 50:1 it smoked a lot. I do 1:100 and it doesn't smoke
Refer to your owners manual. If you don't have one, you can probably get one free online in a PDF
