    Sigh.
    I am so close to getting this engine working again... Many interruptions and delays later...
    As I said, the carburetor is cleaned/rebuilt and re-installed. I finally got back to this project, with new fuel tank/line and fresh gas/mix. Also installed new spark plugs.
    I cannot get the engine to fire/start. Fuel is definitely getting into the carburetor.
    Is there perhaps some carburetor setting/adjustment I can or need to do? I am baffled, as it would start and at least idle prior to the cleaning.

    Have the merc 110 9.8 - 1969 and it won’t idle! Carb cleaned, new fuel mixture, runs well with throttle open. Fuel bulb stays hard, float and filter free of dirt, tried idle adjustment and still no luck. It seems to pick up rpms when slowly backing off throttle from ‘start’ position to ‘shifting range’. Not sure what to try next.

    • @LonnieJohnson1

      Sounds like it's not getting gas. When something is running out of gas it normally speeds up before it dies.

  • @74nova36

    Is it ever the fuel pump? I’m just looking at mine and wondering. Just bought a 1968 9.8hp that will run on spray and has 105 psi in both cylinders. Does gas from primer bulb flowing thru the punk rule it out completely?

    • @LonnieJohnson1
      @LonnieJohnson1  2 года назад

      If it runs with spray I would remove the gas line from the carb and see if it's pumping fuel while you keep it running with spray. That will rule out a bad pump. Then you will have to check the carb if the pump is working.
