MAKING A LATHE MANDREL NEEDED FOR A REPAIR JOB.
I have the same one, it’s awesome. It keeps shutting off though (not just hitting a bump) any suggestions
Robin Subaru 💯👌
Most likely , you have a lot of chips in that hole back it off, clean the chips and then re-tap
Thanks for watching, have a great holiday...............
I have the same mower that I am unable to read the model number off of the sticker. Is there anyway you could send me the model number of this particular craftsman mower? I need to order some parts.
Unfortunately, that's just a mower that was in for service/repair. I don't have a model number or serial number for it. You might find a owners manual for it on ebay. that will probably have a parts list. Hope this helps...................
@@repairrestoreresell2026 thanks for the reply and the suggestion. Have a great day.
Good job!
Thanks for showing me I'm going to do the same
Very nice thank you for showing it on you tube have a nice day.
I just inherited an old 912 8Hp. Does this use straight gas or oil mix fuel?
The Machine in the video ran on strait gasoline. Thanks for Watching...........
Thanks for the video. I got one of these Lug-Bug 500 tugs with a Briggs and Stratton engine built in 1980! The engine still runs great but the belt was trashed. Thanks to your video I was able to fix it, yes the 4L390 belt worked perfect. Oh, switched out the Points and condenser for an electronic ignition. For anyone else taking on this project cutting out the 2 access holes is a necessity. Whoever invented this never intended for anyone to ever have to replace the belt. Lasting 45 years is not bad....
Glad the Video was helpful. The tug is back here now with a transmission problem. I'll probably video that repair.
@@repairrestoreresell2026please do! That was my next goal. Mine keeps popping out of forward and i have no idea how to separate the transmission from the pulley.
Where are you getting parts for this my local shop won’t even look at my encore for me
Mostly from the internet. Find your model number and search ILLUSTRATED PARTS LIST for your brand & model. Hope this helps..............
@@repairrestoreresell2026 thank you sir
Okay, now I watched you pressure wash your stx38 pre 1993 please help me fix my steering. Thank you 🙏
I'd be happy to try and help you with your steering, but you need to be a little more specific. Such as.....What steering problem are you having?
@@repairrestoreresell2026 it’s a jd stx38 89 to 93 model and the steering just spins around, I need to know how to remove the shaft with the gears and how to remove the triangle thing up inside that the sprocket turns against. I can find any videos on this model year . Thanks 🙏
The Sector Gear and shaft is about $300.00, The Pinion Gear is about $40.00. For about 150.00 you can buy the entire assembly used on ebay. I think it will be far easier, and far more cost effective. look into it. Hope this helps..............
hello thanks for the vid. Can you tell me what spark plugs you are running?
I'm not sure at this point. I would have looked it up and probably went with a Champion Spark Plug. If your not aware, Kohler now offers their Service Manuals FREE ONLINE IN A PDF. If you can't find it leave your Make and Model in the comments and I'll try to look it up. Thank you...............
Your not showing where it's located

Like your video,very helpful.
Glad it was helpful! Have a Great Day!!..................
I got a 76 Merc mod 110- 9.8 practically the same thing you have for free on New Orleans Free Stuff Craigslist. Gas was not getting to the carb, and I saw that the gas line was ran to the carb fuel pump like this one shows going around the front of the carb. There was too much of a bend where the hose connected to the carb/fuel pump and it had sat up a long time and hardened so practically no gas was making it to the carb. I bought a new piece of hose and routed it over the top of the carb and turned the inlet carb port straight up and it started right up, If the hose is not a factory hose with a designed bend in it and is just a straight piece of cut hose it needs a little distance from the bend to the carb inlet or it will kink. Not saying this is your problem but often it is simple things like that.
Glad you were able to identify & resolve the issue. Thanks for watching..................
Cheers RRR Drilled it 5/16 whilst in the tailstock of my atlas . felt the drill went into the relief...needed a 2lb lump hammer , arbor came off..wouldnt have thought of drilling to punch ..many thanks RRR
Glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching.............
I’m
What about all the leftover rubber?
What leftover rubber? If your referring to o-rings and washers, many kits contain parts for various applications.
Hello, I have a Mercury 9.8 2t of a similar year and I have a problem with it. The engine runs relatively smoothly with the choke slightly extended, without it it does not reach high speeds and chokes. What could be the reason? Regards
I'd start with brand new gas. Check to confirm that the fuel screen at the carburetor is clear.
@@repairrestoreresell2026 And what mixture do you pour?
50 to 1
@@repairrestoreresell2026 When I did 50:1 it smoked a lot. I do 1:100 and it doesn't smoke
Refer to your owners manual. If you don't have one, you can probably get one free online in a PDF
Great info! Will now apply your method to get my No 34 arbor removed! Thanks!
Glad you found it helpful. Best of Luck..............
I just bought a second armstrong ratchet because i love the one i have and theyarw now discontinued.
Armstrong has a long history of making quality dependable tools and tooling.
A really good video explains exactly how to take the carburetor off. Now all I need to do is figure out why gas keeps dripping out of the bottle is it a stuck needle valve with the float?
Have the same problem! Did you figure it out?
When is it leaking, with the motor vertical or tilted for travel?
@@barbenbassin6169 mine too, anyone found a solution ?
found the issue ? I have the same problam, sometimes its just leaking from the front little hole
Thanks for sharing man. Helped a lot figuring out a similar chipper that sat 20+ years.
Glad it helped, passing along knowledge is what it's all about.
Very good video thank you for the video
Glad you enjoyed it
I just subscribed to your channel I like how you take it step by step most channels don't do that thank you for the video
Thanks for the sub!
i have a tractor like it i am learning how to change the tires in the winter
Great!. I hope my video's are useful
How's the performance of this snowblower? I'm about to buy a used one for 300
I bought a used STX38 It took some wiring work to get it to start, once I did I began cutting my grass. I found out I did not have any brakes when I attempted to stop & hit my van. I watched the video, then attempted to remove the right rear wheel. It would not budge I sprayed lubricant, no help, beat on the rim from the back side nothing. Yesterday I went to Harbor Freight & bought a 8" 3 armed puller. I had to take the tire off the rim, then it took me 3 hours of constant cranking to move the rim about 5" to get the wheel off! There was a heavy coating of crusty rust on the shaft & inside the rim. The wheel must not ever been off before. I will be sanding & wire brushing today.
You can also drill holes through the rim close to the hub at 3:00 & 9:00 and use threaded rod or bolts with a plate puller to pull off a stuck rim. They can be a challenge. I have a Troy Bilt Horse Tiller with stuck wheels. I've been using it for 8 years without the locking pins in the hubs. They still have not broken free. Best of Luck..................
thank you so much for this. I changed my main drive belt and suddenly my brake/clutch wasn't working. I checked all the forums and found very little. You (hopefully) just solved my issue. I love my stx38. someone gave it to me for free because the modern fuel clogged the gas breather. lol.
what size belt is it

Dear Sir I just found this clip don't take this comment the wrong way but I like your slow demeanour your easy to follow an informative where are you from I live in south jersey an have two wheel horses a 1975 c140 n a 1993 314 8 both very reliable units RayStein
Thank you. I'm in Connecticut
helpful -- thanks!
I have an mi t m looks the same. Becket burner. I'm getting white smoke out the bottom near of boiler when I pull trigger. I was told may have fuel on my insulation
The insulation could be wet with water or fuel. pull out a small piece of insulation and feel whether it's oily. Or put a small sample on the driveway and try to light it. Wet insulation can produce white steam, when it's heated. You need to determine if your dealing with a fuel leak, or a water leak. Best of Luck...................
I've got a leak in transmission. It appears to be coming from the bottom. The input shaft. Does that have a replaceable seal ?
You did not accept defeat! Excellent skills. Perserverance. Glad you posted. I use aircraft tugs similar to this alot. Small airplanes can be heavy. Difficult to push uphill, especially by yourself. Keep up the videos. What part of the world are you? Engineer better be continually grateful ! Wondering what he pushes around with the now operable tug. : )
Thanks 👍
2 torni,
Where's part 2
What does this have to do with getting a pump off
It has to do with problems that happen on any given repair. A wide selection of tools and still not one I can grab and go. So, buy something, borrow something or make something to get the job done. In this case the fastest solution was to make an adapter to use one of my puller plates on the slide hammer. Thanks for watching
thanks buffalo bill
I need a dog like him!
He's a great companion. He loves hanging out in the shop. Have a Great Day............
great back story on how life is different today. I personaly am glad I can do a few things my self. Now everything is disposable. Hope you have many fond memories using the fine ratchet.
I just used this ratchet last week. Whenever I need a short handle 1/2" drive ratchet this one is my favorite. Thanks for watching, Best of Luck................
I have this deck and it's going to need a new deck belt soon. Do you have the brand and number for the belt you used? I've done an internet search and there are so many brands and part numbers that contradict each other, my head is swimming. At least if I get the info from someone who has replaced one already, that works, I won't be buying more than one. Good video Sir and I can't find the second part in your que. Did you make a part two? I just got one of these 312-8 machine and it was neglected for a number of years. I'm going to watch your video on electrical gremlins as soon as I post this comment. Have a good day.
It should be a Toro 106125, or a Gates 6889 I prefer Gates belts myself. You need to verify these numbers yourself, as yours may be different.. Best of Luck...........................
@@repairrestoreresell2026 Thank you for the information my friend.
Great video! Money saved with this! Sucks i had to buy a new cdi unit and stator coil though 🤣
I'm glad it helped. We all need to save money where we can these days! Best of luck.................
How do you remove the linkage from the carb. on the GP7000 8750 watt Generac generator
Sounds like the day it came out of the factory. Looking forward to your water pump video. Great job.
Thanks! This Motor will make somebody happy for a low cost. If it was a short shaft I'd keep it. One lake has lowered the motor limits from 10hp down to 8hp. So i need a 7.5 cover to put on my 9.9 These politicians have nothing better to do with their time!! Thanks for watching, Best of Luck.............
The engine sounds great.
Thanks Jim. I'm behind a few video's on your channel. I need to hit the microwave popcorn & do some binge watching!
It worked for also, thanks
You're welcome!
Have the same switch and plan on rebuilding mine. Nice video Hope the inside of mine is in good shape the wires were pretty much rotted off from old age.
With a little patience it'll turn out fine. Then you can rename your boat "The FV Inflation Buster" Best of Luck..............
@@repairrestoreresell2026 Did it yesterday. It worked great. If I hadn't watched your video I don't think I would have thought about removing and drilling those pins. Thanks again for posting the video.
Awesome video! The moment I saw the wear and tear of your hands, I knew this is going to work! I’m going to fix mine today! Thanks!
That's just what I need to do. Didn't think about pushing the pins out, will do. Thanks!
