Those in the Video, were from Pesäpallo, which is a game, that is professionally played only in Finland, the "national" sport. However, in the world, there are just few nations, that can be taken seriously in this sport. They are Finland, Sweden Russia, Czech, Slovakia, USA, Canada and nowadays also Switzerland and Germany have reached the competitive level. All others can make single surprises but they have never reached even near the top.. Also, you have to note, that as NHL playoffs are being played at the same time in the spring, there are never the "best possible" teams playing in world championships. Good entertainment, still. However, for many finns, the key point in every years world championships is, that we beat Sweden. Depending on the schedule and top 8 brackets, it is possible, that in some years Finland does not meet Sweden, but it is always the key match, when it happens. It does not matter, whether we win gold or be 8th position, as long as we beat sweden.. Entertaining sport of course, however, not my cup of tea as I prefer soccer. Same with other countries that have players in NHL, they can leave if the team is off from playoff and allow them to play. Sweden season I think it-s over by then, haven't follow the Swedish hockey since at least a decade now. Sweden often referred as the big brother compare to Finland. As a regular viewer from Sweden who also loves ice hockey I totally recommend you to check out more clips with hockey, as someone else mentioned it’s superior to football. :D One of the biggest rivalries in sports are between Finland and Sweden in hockey and Sweden almost always wins so don’t know what wikipedia page they showed that made it look like Finland wins a lot…. Lol (But I can agree that Finland is better than Sweden on the woman side.) NHL in North America is the best league in the world and all the best players are playing there no matter what country they are from. And because NHL is not a member of the IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation) they don’t care about international tournaments like the World Championships and other tournaments between countries so they don’t pause when those tournaments take place like they do in football. The World Championship for example are always taking place in the middle of the NHL play off each year resulting in that a lot of the worlds best players are not available to play for their countries unless their NHL team misses the play off or are eliminated early. And USA and Canada are not even trying to be as good team as possible during the World Championships, their players are basically treating it like a free holiday in Europe and brings their families. However, sometimes NHL have granted the players wishes of best on best tournaments and arranged their own World Cup or paused during Winter Olympics allowing all the best players to participate. The next Winter Olympics will be such an event. Don’t know when you are planning to visit Sweden but the next world championship will be held in Stockholm in May next year. USA and Canada take part but players are from teams that are not playing in NHL at that time or have dropped from the play offs. There is a lot of money involved in NHL and basically none in IIHL.
In the NHL, helmets became mandatory only in the 1979-1980 season. However, the rule in practice only applied to newcomers, as older players were still allowed to play without a helmet even in the 1980s. For example, Montreal Canadiens legend Guy Lafleur played without a helmet until the end of his career, i.e. the 1990-1991 season.
The Americans and Canadians do partake, but they don't send their best (nor do technically the other hockey nations, as the best players, on paper, play in the NHL)
Sure, that fins statement was funny. I as a Swede agree because it is also factual statements everyone of the statements. Sure I love when sweden wins more than when finland wins, i also get excited when fins do tremendous proper work in any winter related sport.
Of course the US and Canada take part in the world championships, what he was saying is that the teams don't get any players who are busy playing in the NHL, only players from NHL teams that have been eliminated that season might go play in the world championship
To explain the world championships in ice hockey, the playoffs in the NHL run at the same time, therefore the players who play in the best teams in the world are rarely sent. But that really applies to all countries as even the best players from European countries often play in the NHL. They have tried to delay the world championships to get around this and it works reasonably well then only a few teams whose players can't come but still they are the best teams. However, it is not like in soccer that the best players necessarily play in the best team, a team that comes in the bottom half of the NHL may have the best ranked player in the world but does not have the same breadth as the teams that make it to the finals. Then I think ice hockey is more of a team sport than soccer is, you have to have functioning fives that are very interconnected, while in soccer it is somewhat easier to have fixed stars. A coordinated group of half-decent players will probably beat a five with good stars in it that are not coordinated with each other.
You must correct the error of your ways and rush to Elite Ice Hockey League game first given opportunity! It's the british ice hockey league, obviously:)
If you want to watch hockey in Sweden, don't go to a game in Stockholm as both Stockholm teams, which is hilarious, are in the second division hockey league (Hockeyallsvenskan).
Definitely to watch hockey and to what level, for example, and even though not all NHL superstars are like in the Olympics, at most each one of them is a professional. Jesse was made fun of for that in the early days, but Jarki Kurri, Teemu Seanne, Saku koivu and Mister five-time Stanley Gup winner Esa Tikka, etc., so they are. By the way, baseball was developed by Tahko Pihkala and the idea was a sport that would serve the Finnish defense forces as well as possible sometime in the 1920s ps. Finland's second official language is Swedish, which dates back to Sweden's time as a great power, and Finns were generally considered an inferior race even in the early 1900s, basic English is learned here without schools, because English-language series and movies are not dubbed, like in Sweden and France) Ice hockey has pretty simple rules, although the line of referees can also have an effect, three attackers quickly, if you can be mobile and a bunch of defenders is a basic start and yes there are rants and the most common is 2min. superiority in the other and they already score a goal here, the player gets out of the ice barrier and the situation is evened out. P aitsio means that a player in the attacking group takes possession of the puck even though the opposing players are behind it, in a zone like in football. The Soviet Union team was considered undefeated for a few decades, a good shot at that to the end. I personally liked the skillful playing that they had, well, they were a bit sloppy with the rules, I mean, I don't remember the years, so there weren't supposed to be professional players, so they had an advantage. When the Soviet Union collapsed, almost all best Russian players left to play for NHK, I think they defected before. But if you don't want to write a book, get to know the sport, those are pretty central, but of course a lot more, but I think I learned best by following or playing. If the answer was a bit too long, then we Finns are a bit like this when you noticed your enthusiasm and when you asked, the British also play world-class latke, they can unexpectedly have a pre-favorite, etc. from there to try to hide the sport. If it's too long, then you can say that there are no excessively long comments from Finns, ruclips.net/video/0QoOArMQ6YY/видео.html
Dwayne, "Jumalauta"! Even Finns don't think about its origin: "Jumal' auta!" aka Jumala, auta = God, help! "Jumalauta" is a kind of swearword as PERKELE and SAATANA! 😂
Saatana is a great swearword since I cannot from top of my head think of other languages that use the satan as a swear word. It's also a great way to add some variety to your insults as you don't have to call someone a chimpanzee when you can call them a satans chimpanzee.
Sweden has won the world championship in icehockey 11 times and Finland has won 4 times. You missunderstood the begining of the video😊 He talks about how often Finland has won in the sport similar to baseball in the begining. Not how many times they have won the icehockey-championships. (Thats why he says that Finland is good, but not to good😊 Which makes it more exiting I guess than if they would always win).
Of course you have to go to a hockey match. It's amazing and so much fun. The Swedish hockey league (SHL) is better than the Finnish league (Liiga) though.
3:19 That 2014 Russian all-star referee team was something else alright, I've never seen such bone headed and obviously bribed referees in any competition before or after it 3:50 The World Championship competition is during NHL playoffs, so teams who didn't make it to the end season or who drop out, are available for World Championships. That means almost all NHL players are actually available to come
'Yes, ice-hockey is very exciting! In comparison, Football is VERY boring. I used to watch ice-hockey when I was younger (I'm from Sweden), and my brother played it. But not anymore, (I don't care to pay for sport-channels). But I know the rules, and it is fast and heavy.

3:04 2014 Russians stole the final victory in Minsk Belarus since it's Russian vassal state. They hit crosschecking to face and broke jaw of one Finnish player - no penalty. And a lot of other controversies
USA and Canada do participate in the World Cup, but the players are all from teams who didn't make the NHL playoffs. So they are (in some people's mind) kind of a "B-team".
Not even a b, c or d team... Last time Canada won world cup I went to check Canadian newspapers and they didn't even have zero mentions about it even knowing how huge in general hockey is there. They just don't care about this tournament at all.
YES, you definately should watch a hockey game in Finland - but not in Helsinki, come to Tampere, this is the home of hockey! If you can catch Ilves - Tappara game, it would be the best option. Both are local teams and bloody rivals. Countries do participate in the world championships, but NHL doesnt stop while they are on - so countries will always have some players not attending to their national team, since they have games on NHL.
Don't be fooled by the comments and forget that football is the second most popular sport in finland, and all the time its growing. Someday it will definitely go past ice hockey. Majority of us finns don't like ice hockey at all and prefer football. A lot of us think that getting to Euros through the qualifiers is much bigger thing than winning the yearly "skoda cup" ("world championships" where there is less than 5 good countries).
As "lucky" as Sweden... LOL - yeaaaaah... no bias at all here.... There is probably a stat nerd out there who can provide the figures, but I figure Sweden has more wins than Finland in tournament plays. But, there is nothing more exciting to watch a World Championship or Olympic Game where Sweden and Finland meets. Best games ever. And if Sweden is knocked out many Swedes root for Finland if they still are in the game. Yep, its a love-hate relationship when it comes to hockey! Sad to say, the UK sucks mud when it comes to hockey, they throw it all at football. The best players in the NHL are Swedes, Finns and others... I love Finland unless we face them in hockey...
I never heard of "pesäpallo" sounds like something the Finns came up with in order to set up some different hockey rules with a 100% chance of winning, just to fuck with the Swedes 🤣
no it's variant of baseball some ultranationalist nutjob came up to indoctrinate finns into becoming willing disposable cannon fodder for war. all of the terminology was deliberately designed to normalize getting wounded and dying in war, as well as having situations where you're forced to run even if you know you will surely 'die'. and it was made the national sport to instill that frame of mind to every kid as soon as you go to school.

Getting puck to the net is 1 point. Getting it through the net is 7 points. Breaking the glass like in video is 12 points.
Its not glass its a very flexible and strong plastic. It is very uncommon for it to break which makes these kind of clips even better.
I honestly hate ice hockey😑
(Im from Finland too😃 tho ofc not all finnish ppl like ice hockey-)
You have to look who won the years that is missing in the list, it only shows the years Finland won but there are big gaps between the years.
Jumalauta is literally "God help!" For some reason, not suitable in public...

"Never forget" Leijonat 2019 is the video u need watch. Then u understand
5:20 those slams against the fence are legal
If you want to watch hockey in Sweden, don't go to a game in Stockholm as both Stockholm teams, which is hilarious, are in the second division hockey league (Hockeyallsvenskan).
Welcome to Jokerit games. I'll buy you a beer.
By the way, baseball was developed by Tahko Pihkala and the idea was a sport that would serve the Finnish defense forces as well as possible sometime in the 1920s
ps. Finland's second official language is Swedish, which dates back to Sweden's time as a great power, and Finns were generally considered an inferior race even in the early 1900s, basic English is learned here without schools, because English-language series and movies are not dubbed, like in Sweden and France)
Ice hockey has pretty simple rules, although the line of referees can also have an effect, three attackers quickly, if you can be mobile and a bunch of defenders is a basic start and yes there are rants and the most common is 2min. superiority in the other and they already score a goal here, the player gets out of the ice barrier and the situation is evened out.
P
aitsio means that a player in the attacking group takes possession of the puck even though the opposing players are behind it, in a zone like in football.
If it's too long, then you can say that there are no excessively long comments from Finns,
ruclips.net/video/0QoOArMQ6YY/видео.html
You should do reaction to some hockey highlights video.
1 points per puck in opponent goal net
Sweden has won the world championship in icehockey 11 times and Finland has won 4 times. You missunderstood the begining of the video😊 He talks about how often Finland has won in the sport similar to baseball in the begining. Not how many times they have won the icehockey-championships. (Thats why he says that Finland is good, but not to good😊 Which makes it more exiting I guess than if they would always win).
Us and canada has teams in the world championships but just as for sweden and finland some of their best players are tied up in the NHL playoffs.
Yes, Finns love icehockey but this video was a satire.
Of course you have to go to a hockey match. It's amazing and so much fun.
The Swedish hockey league (SHL) is better than the Finnish league (Liiga) though.
3:19 That 2014 Russian all-star referee team was something else alright, I've never seen such bone headed and obviously bribed referees in any competition before or after it
3:50 The World Championship competition is during NHL playoffs, so teams who didn't make it to the end season or who drop out, are available for World Championships.
When they say "hockey tailored towards ADHD - football's suits people with autism" although def non-pc nowadays.. we all kinda knows what that means. and you know it's the 20's when the offended doesnt actually have anyone close to them with any of those diagnoses - start attacking the person making that comment - who actually _o_ have one of those, because they're often strong people. but some peopel assumes weakness, which is a way more damaging label to put on folks.
lol did I make sense there? if notm im blaming the pilsner happy vacation on u Dwane, swedes - whattaheck, even the finns! 🤏😬🤣😂🥰
Just think of the NHL as the premier league. Now once hockey hosts the "world cup" most players playing in the "prem" will rather sit out of the world cup to continue playing in the prem
it's not the player's choice. they're at work and their employer isn't letting them go.
3:04 2014 Russians stole the final victory in Minsk Belarus since it's Russian vassal state. They hit crosschecking to face and broke jaw of one Finnish player - no penalty. And a lot of other controversies
Reksa are GOAT.
Duud died in british ice hockey league, so yeah. it's serious.
Enda sporten dom är hyfsad på😂😂
That's the thing Jesse Puljujärvi is so bad to average Finnish person in english that is funny and embarrassing at the same time :P
Jumalauta = Bloody hell
Being Swedish is like if Finns Win Gold we Win Gold. we are happy for them. I mean Sweden already has so many gold in ice hockey.
I have never watched a game of football in my life. 😅 It just seems so boring to me.
Pesäpallo is kind of like baseball but exciting.
React 2019 WC win
Yeah never be ashamed of wanting to learn something new
When finns go insane after they won icehochey world championship: wtf welcome to finland icehockey championchip
And yes, you need to see next world championship finland vs sweden
You can also whatch videos, when finns stole swedes winning song "den glider in" in 1995. Swedes were so sure of winning that they had made song about it before the game. And when we won, we stole it. 😅 Probably the only song what hole finnish nation can sing in swedish.
Think you weight 85Kg and skate 40km/h against other player(80Kg) whos moving very fast too and you collide so IT IS hard hit,its like car crash Every shift you are on The ice so at The end of The season playoffs/Finals there IS not one player WHO IS not in pain but you cant tell nobody because The opponent Will use that information against you(If they know your right hand IS Broken you can Will Be sure that hand Will Be worse after Every game.🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮SLAVA🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
U should React to Connor McDavid highlights!!!!
I really wish Best for Jesse...he has been through a lot. I just wish he would be good in NHL but no...
I hate this Finglish ,eheheh
Hahaha no no and no..finland does not dominate sweden i ishockey! Totalt World championship medals..sweden 11 gold 19 silver and 17 bronze...finland 4 gold 9 silver and 3 bronze. And olympics finland have 1 gold 2 silvers and 4 bronze. Sweden 2 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze.
And sweden have won ALL medal games agains finland...
I like video, but i think that accent is wannabe fake to sound original. It sounds bad and i understand he want it to sound honest, but its example of honest gone bad. Im myself Finnish, and im not even sure am i writing correct English, but atleast i dont make videos 😂 well... i try to watch it to the end, maybe content itself is good 🤔
Swedis , 🖕🏻😅
Don't go to an icehockey match in finland. It's EXTREMELY boring if you don't have some kind of feeling towards either team.
Like think if a finn would come and watch a game of cricket. Like WHY
Or like baseball in the us ....
It's almost like watching a game of chess if you don't know the rules.
Of course if you learn the rules it will be substantially more entertaining but i don't see the point
Mandelin
Normaly Sweden winns 😂
Ice Hockey is the best sport
Just remember this: Sweden is better than Finland at hockey
Sweden is better than Finland at Ice Hockey
