i can see how the lyrics were made for this song. i see the song was called "careful what you pack" and how it says she thinks she is alone but something is watching her.
The known, the unknown, and the under-known Look at what she found Digging all around By the goldfish pond She's gonna get in trouble now Shaking up the bees, swinging from that tree Doesn't understand She's in trouble now It's a new year Careful what you pack There's no going back She's lost from the beginning She's the new girl She thinks she's smart; she's just curious She thinks she's alone Doesn't even know someone's watching her She's gonna get in trouble now Waving from the shore, never knew before Doesn't understand She's in trouble now It's a new year Careful what you pack There's no going back She's lost from the beginning She's the new girl Careful what you pack There's no going back She's lost from the beginning She's the new girl

not exactly rejected. they just decided not to have any songs besides the gibberish chorus thing. i heard they were originally meant to write all the music for the movie but it went a different direction. The Other Father Song made it in. best music in the movie. the rest is forgettable but serves its purpose.
tbh, I love TMBG, but they made the right decision. TMBG's inherent upbeat style was just not appropriate for the dark melancholy film. The soundtrack the film decided on fits perfectly with the rest of the film, and it's beautiful and poignant, so no complaints, as much of a TMBG fan I am.
Coraline is a good movie. And I'm happy there are no songs in it - they are awesome separately and each time I listen to this it reminds me of the movie.
This song will always have a special place in my heart, The Else was the first TMBG album I ever bought and I got it at their 30th anniversary show in LA.
It was too upbeat for the overall theme and atmosphere of the film. The only exception was the Other Father's song, which was purposely intended to be happy and upbeat in that scene.
The movie was originally supposed to be a musical, but due to lack of funding, it never happened. This and the other father's song are the only songs released from the original plans. Other songs supposedly exist, but have not been released.
They Might Be Giants originally wrote a whole album (10 songs) for Coraline but like Celestial Dragon stated the songs were considered too upbeat. Which is such a shame because I would love to hear those songs regardless of whether or not they've been used in an awesome film.

Are you listening on headphones? Because I am and I just noticed that phone ring for the first time too. I think this is the first time I've ever listened to it on 'phones.
This would be a good song for when in Coraline is going through the portal to get her parents back. That or the second time before they ask about the buttons.
Your song made me think of a game that I could play on my Minecraft channel so I thank you but to put the cherry on the cake do you think I could play your song in the background all I need is permission and I promise I won't do it unless you grant me your permission to play the song in the background
Wow this song is literally made for coraline every word
A full TMBG soundtrack might be a bit much for the tone LAIKA were going for. I liked the little splash they had in it.
they did confirm it in that like google interview didnt they
@@drlesterkingfish Also they tend to tell the story when they play it at shows. Sounds amazing live.
this totally shouldve been in coraline john put his whole flansbussy in this goddamn

Never forget, he did that for you. He did that for all of us
This should’ve been in the movie. Or at least in a trailer or credits
right ! it fits so perfectly
I agree, this would've been an awesome end credits theme for the movie.
i can see how the lyrics were made for this song. i see the song was called "careful what you pack" and how it says she thinks she is alone but something is watching her.
The song lyrics describes a very very scary thing in a beautiful singing voice which makes it sound even more terrifying than ever.

Relatable, have a nice day.
Fun fact, this song was originally written for the movie Coraline but was rejected.
Randy Smith Their loss.

A fact video on Coraline is actually what brought me here... and boy am I glad I came. Never heard of TMBG before now and I am loving this.
Randy Smith I find that so interesting! I heard it on a video. I really want to hear the other songs as well.
i am fully convinced that this song is about watching a squirrel in the park during the winter.
It was made for the movie Coraline but didn't make the cut, but your interpretation is really interesting and kind of beautiful :D
Coraline is a good movie. And I'm happy there are no songs in it - they are awesome separately and each time I listen to this it reminds me of the movie.
There are songs in it, but very few, which fits the tone of the movie. Like for example the other father song, by they might be giants.
This song will always have a special place in my heart, The Else was the first TMBG album I ever bought and I got it at their 30th anniversary show in LA.
how could this be denied for coraline?

Because Coraline was almost a musical, and once they changed that idea most of the songs went by the wayside.
@@jackblack3718 honestly glad it didn't become one.

brilliant love the chorus
Its the new year, sharing this~
Should've added deleted scenes in Coraline and this song would be at the end credits.
It's funny that this was meant for the Laika Studios take on Caroline--when I first heard it, the fall after it dropped, my mind went to Chiyo Mihama.
Por qué tan poca gente conoce y aprecia este tema? Si es tan profundo y bien hecho...una lástima...
La banda entera es profunda y bien hecha
This would be a good song for when in Coraline is going through the portal to get her parents back. That or the second time before they ask about the buttons.
If you dont know, this song was WRITTEN for Coraline back when it was a musical, but that idea got scrapped.
