Blown 5 Amp fuse on my Ford Ranger gave a dead scanner - replaced the OBD fuse and presto it worked perfectly 😌
I haven't been able to pass the smog test, I went to 5 shops on Friday and found out about the port. someone told me to check the fuse, I did it's fine, I didn't think about a prone out of place, will definitely check it this weekend. I called the Dealership (Toyota ) they wanted to charge me $195 for a diagnostic test. I paid my registration in August 2020 cannot get my sticker until I pass the computer part ( emission - get the error message cannot read the computer ). Everything else is fine. thank you so much for sharing.

I was beating my head against the wall on my OBD2 port that had been working not connecting to the ECU all of the sudden on my 2000 Z3. This video gave me the hint that if the engine port was not closed completely it would cause this. Sure enough, I made sure it was closed and completely screwed in, and everything started working again. Thank you!

@@KareemKayy There is an OBD I port in the engine bay. I use it to reset the service lights. When I had opened it last, I did not screw it in completely and the ECU thought it was opened. When that happens, the OBD2 will not work. It is what he is talking about at 00:55 in this video.

@@KareemKayy Ah, then that is not your problem. Those engine OBD ports were taken out around 2001-2002 for a pure OBD2 port inside the car. In 2000 they were transitioning to OBD2 and had both ports. You only have an OBD2, and your problem is different.

Hi, tried two different bluetooth scanners, each with 4 different apps, and tried all of that also through the 20 pin connector under the hood, elm connection is there but none of the scanners can communicate with the ecu, any ideas?
Hey Nathan! Ive been watching your videos for about 1 to 2 years now and I'm wondering where you get your parts from? I have an e60 with tons of work still needing to be done on it and having your input on what online stores to choose and which ones to stay away from would be awesome. I've personally had good deals with fcpeuro but is there more out there that are good online stores for bimmers? Thanks for all the great tips you leave out, halve the things I did on my e60 wouldn't have been done or would've taken me way longer to do without your videos 👍

I have a 328i e90 that won't pass smog because it won't connect to the scanner. Tried a atron and bosch code reader. And same thing. Any ideas?

@@FREEAIR_1973 Yeah I'm not sure what caused it to blow in the first place, but it's been fine since.
Did your engine light stay on when fuse was out?
Hello I noticed on my odb port that the prongs on #5 are not separated they are pushed together I’m trying to separate them so I can tune the car using mhd what should I use to separate these prongs ? 2015 bmw 235i

I have a OBD 2 Reader, it can read race chips but it can't read the external gauges that I wished to mount on my dashboard.

Got a 2001 X5 E53 and I can’t communicate with any modules except the DME. any idea what the problem could be and how to fix it?
Probably some module is shorting k line? Check your inpa ista reingold install

hey Nathan, I came across your video looking for ideas for a trailer deck. Then I saw you fix bmws. I recently bought 04 X3. The locks work if you push the button inside but the key fob will not talk to the car. There were two key fobs, I changed batteries in both, they still don't work. where would you look first? Also sometimes the low coolant light comes on although its not low in coolant. The temp gauge sometimes spikes over the right, the alarm goes off but the car is not hot. Finally my wife told me the radio arbitrary shuts off. Where would you start to look first for these issues? Can they all be related maybe to the bus controller? or do we need a priest?
I need your expertise on an e38 issue. 2001 740i Sport cranks, but no start. New crankshaft position sensor, DME/EWS delete, and fuel pump energizes, fuel rail pressurizes. All fuses and relays are good. I am stumped, but can't keep throwing parts at it. Oh.....and no codes thrown. Any ideas of what to look at next?
Its the fuse in the dme box, the little 5 fuse holder
@@NathansBMWWorkshop Nope. All the fuses are good and each one has continuity. This is what has me stumped. The closest shop (1 hour away) wants $300 just to hook up to their diagnostics....after I have it towed there. Not an option for me.
I even replaced the ignition switch to deal with the low voltage at Terminal 15.
Check compression? Look at the coil pack wiring and where it terminates in the ebox
@@ifan3270 Compression check was interesting. #1 had 60, #'s2 & 3 had 50, and #4 had 100......cyl #5-8 all had 160. I ended up putting some oil in the cylinders, let them sit, blew it out, and went ahead and put the plugs and coils back in and it fired right up and ran. I was able to get a code read off of it. P0343. So a new camshaft sensor was ordered and well see if that takes care of the issue. If not, I will tear it down and do a rebuild. It's been a while since I have rebuilt something.....4L60e was the last thing. This shouldn't be too hard. LOL!

BlueDriver OBD11 will not fit into my 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. I noticed the pins are not compatible. I called company and they state it should fit. Is there an adaptable cable that I need to purchase for it to fit an older model?
Mine ended up being a car charger. Removed and immediately started working.
i bought the ELM327 HH OBD ADVANCED BLUETOOTH V2.1 OBDII CAR DIAGNOSTIC scanner and ran it on both a 2001 buick regal & a 2001 ford expedition with incar pro app and 2 other apps. The result : unable to connect to ECU. Plugged it into a 13 chrysler 300 using the incar app pro and it read and worked fine.
Im at a loss. is this elm327 not meant for older vehicles????? ive searched all over and cant find a result. any ideas would be helpful.
oh and less than 3 weeks prior recieving my unit . A mechanic plugged a snap on bluetooth obd scanner on the 01 ford expedition and it worked fine. so IONO.
Went to get my E46 to get the emissions test and it was rejected cause the “OBD system is unresponsive” what could it be?

Hi can you help me I’ve bought a fuel filter for my 2003 e60 525i I thought the fuel filter went under the car but I’ve followed fuel lines and no filter but I do have to round things under rear seats is one of them my filter does it have two filter im lost have they sold me the wrong filter or should it be underneath the car

Port has power, dme is readable, but obd2 isn't readable
On Armada 2014, the OBD2 port powers the adapter but it does not read anything, I can connect it to the App on my phone but I don't get any readings (Sometimes it says the OBD Reader does not support this vehicle.....etc.) , tried many other apps like KIWI OBD, Torque, DashCommand. also with more than 3 different adapters. All the Applications I tried can connect to the Adapter, but can't actually read any data from it.
Anyone faced this issue before and got it fixed?
I'm having this problem with my 96 Explorer, just baught one of those 20 scanners at Wal-Mart, used my nephews a couple months back, don't remember what brand it is, but that one worked fine
My scanner works but the scanners for a inspection can't communicate Its super weird 😕
I have the same issue with mine. Can't smog check. Did you fix the issue eventually?
@@joshuapyo1453 negative, but fortunately I found a place it does happen to work on so its possible to find a station.... Try them all in your area if you can.

PLEASE HELP! I was trying to program a key fob on my 03 Cadillac Seville and on a RUclips Video they tell you to put a Jumper on the OBD2 plug between 4 and 8, mine didn't have an 8 so I tried 7(Im retarded for doing that), anyway the next day I realized my Trunk/Fuel door opened wasn't working and today I realized that My OBD2 waa also bad. I already checked every fuse and Relay and still nothing. Everything thing else works perfectly besides the Trunk and fuel bottons. What else can I possibly check.
