Wow! My wife and I are just entering our 60s, and also just started hiking, and what an encouragement and inspiration the show was, as well as your other informative and well done videos (thank you). We may be older, but we are young at heart and are hoping to do some long hikes through this great beautiful country. Thanks again to you and Jennifer.

Darlin I'm 47 years old and was never into hiking. Then I found your videos! I took advantage of the super mild winter here in the East and hiked almost every weekend. Now I'm actually considering my first thru hike but like everyone else things are on hold. I just wanted to say thank you and keep up the great work. I'll keep watching.
Hi. Do you know when it's supposed to be possible again to hike the AT? I read something about until April 30 and wonder if that means I can book a flight now. Greets from Germany
Spekulatius I wouldn’t consider traveling overseas for at least the next year or two
@@christianb8228 I doubt the AT would be the same this year community wise, but even for a 2-4 week test hike I'd like to do that on the real thing instead of here in Germany where we do not have any real wilderness at all.
Spekulatius such a shame...at one point in time Germany had beautiful forests I see what you mean though would be worth it for sure
@@christianb8228 We still do have nice forests where you can take a walk for a few hours. But they're all very properly maintained and have nothing to do with what some Americans would call "God's country".

Awesome format! Love the live forum with guests! I, too used to live in the Asheville area. Graduated high school in Canton, hid out by Lake Lure when I came back to the world. Loved the Smokies! Down in Florida now.

I really enjoyed this format. Not only does it convey that glimmer of hope, that things will improve and we can all get back to nature....I found that it also seemed more like the fellowship that comes out on the trail when- as you have pointed out- like minded people gather. Becoming Odyssa was the very first book I read about the AT. And I had never heard of the AT before reading it. It changed my life and stirred something within me that I didn’t know existed anymore....the urge to explore. My father had died in a tragic car accident two years before I read the book and I did not want to live. I hoped that I would lay in bed and waste away into nothingness. But somehow I came across Jennifer’s book and it changed my life and spoke to me in the way I needed at the time. It gave me the will to live again and it gave me hope that maybe it was possible for me to experience happiness in this life again.

Discovered these You Tube communities only a year ago. Good for the motivation. All the trails are closed here in Mont-Tremblant, Qc, CA. But still, lucky to be in the country side in these times of confidement.
