It's the year of the Dragon and as I was looking to complete a couple of pages in my circular journal, I came across the image of a dragon eating it's own tail and I thought it would be perfect for this page. .
The reality is that I should have really called this film 'what to do when your image transfer goes wrong'. I believe in showing the bad with the good, so I soldiered on after half the dragon's head rubbed off. I think you learn a lot from your mistakes! The image is on the community tab of this channel if you want to use it and came from Pixabay.com
I gathered some red and gold papers to collage the background, then did the image transfer and was far too impatient, but I fixed it and you can too.

Fabulous thank you. And thank you for not starting again when it didn't quite go right. The end result is brilliant and you would never know something had gone wrong. Love the circular journal - I will have to have a go at assembling one myself.

I think how you recover from mistakes is the best bit! Patience isn’t my strongest characteristic 😆

That's the best tutorial of image transfer I have come across - I really like the pace of your explanations and actually the recovery was useful too. 🐉

tis was so much fun! a little background on the dragon
"The Ouroboros, the serpent which devours its own tail, is the most ancient symbol of alchemy. It is also called the "paradoxical serpent" and represents the circular process of the alchemist's work. Because the Latin word draco means both "serpent" and "dragon," the Ouroboros is sometimes interpreted as a dragon. Outside of alchemy, the symbol was also used to indicate eternity. "

I love that! Thank you. I thought it looked very serpent like, so I added the horns etc, but I rather like the idea of eternity and you may have given me an idea…..

A striking page, Liz! (And a great save on the dragon's head!) I LOVE the gold accents, as well. AND...oh my goodness - I have been using rubber stamps in my cardmaking and photo albums for YEARS and YEARS and I NEVER thought to cover up parts of them when I really didn't want the whole stamp! 🙄😃 Thank you for the GREAT tip that I KNOW I will use! (PS Thank you for bringing back the memories of always celebrating Chinese New Year with my kids - they dressed up and decorated and did crafts and made food! They would have LOVED this spread as a craft for sure!🥰)

Love this, Liz, especially the stamping you did at the end. Tip for you, old Post it notes that still have some stickiness left are great for masking off areas for stamping or stencilling. Tear them i if you only want to cover small areas and the stickiness will hold the mask in place leaving you with two hands for the stencilling or stamping.

An artist told me a trick how to tear paper: fold it, and wet the edge with clear water, if necessary from both sides. It softens the paper, and you can tear it easily. Works with very thick watercolour paper, but I assume it will also work with any thin paper.
Love the round format, and all the warm red and gold.

Hi, the round dragon eating it’s tail is “ouroboros” The Ouroboros serpent is meant to be a positive symbol that represents unity and the natural eternal cycle of destruction and re-creation. “ i see it as hope, if you’re stuck in a uncomfortable period you know the cycle will change to better!

Love the spread! The circle journal is very intriguing to me. I love the idea of experimenting with a different surface shape but still having the convenience of a journal.
