Feet up coffee in hand and salvage rebuilds UK. A great way to wind down after work. 👍
A men
Couldn't agree more 👍👍👍
How many people have taken their older motor in for a welding job, and got it back looking great with under seal slapped everywhere, with a nightmare bodge underneath! Another lesson on how to repair cars properly. A delight to watch a proper pair of motor engineers at work. 👍😎
Broken manifold stubs are pretty common of some trucks here in the US. Guys weld a nut on the stud, to back them out, even on aluminum heads. The heat helps loosen up the stud.
Amazing isn't it, old Rob is more excited about this camper than the Ferrari! Brilliant
Absolutely cracking video Rob, first things first - Don’t sell it. Record / video everything you do, it’s always fantastic channel content. Chassis patch ups, curtain upgrades, body repairs, cleaning the inside, showing all the gadgets working, cleaning the engine compartment, engine service? It will be the best, most original Talbot motorhome out there! And indeed worth a fortune!! 🚌🚍🚐👍👌👏😂😎
I've had a couple of autosleepers, people really go for the retro look of the older vans, I would keep the curtains, just clean them. Originality it everything, as long as its a genuine autosleeper.
Get outside finished and then go inside. Can't wait to see the progress. By the way, personally I like that you upload multiple projects. Keeps things fresh and your audience don't know what's coming next. Bravo chaps
Rob, you had a bolt that the head came off and Chris extracted it from the block. Not everyones cup of tea but I’d like to see how you extract those sometime.
Chris; Grinding, cutting welding in tight space.
Rob; I've put new number plates on and even the little coloured screw caps!!😂
It would be great if all Motor Mechanics/Dealers where as honest as you two, another excellent vlog!
Just picked up my son from swimming lesson he asked me when we get home have dinner can I watch new episode of salvage rebuilds with Rob and Chris we just going to sit down with dinner watch it big thumbs up for channel 🤗
Great work and fantastic to have a MOT 😍 either or on next jobs, see what weather and energy levels are next. You seem pretty excited to think you'll be using it 😎
That's exactly what I've been looking for, for me and the missus to tour around the country
Cheeky work breakfast break in a layby. Nice years ticket on the motor home, really enjoyed this 👍🏻
Chris is spot on with take every bit of Rot out and do a piece of work that will last years .good idea on the welding MOT examiner will be happy Solar Panel install would be good, clean out and refresh interior
Look at your face when you got the ticket on the van. Like a boy in a sweet shop. Respect that camper is going to be a nice one when done 😊
Myself I would modernize it a little, hit ebay and see what bits you can get like back up cameras and parking sensors for example.
Sat nav is a good one too as the main thing that puts people off these older campers is the lack of modern features.
But when you start adding solar and things like that you struggle to get it back unless you plan on using it for a few years before selling it.
Great stuff getting that mot on it, nice work lads, really wanna see it all cleaned up now, cracking little camper you shud both do a little road trip in it 🤣🤣👍👍, once again nice work lads 👍👍
Great job guys, camper sorted! A nice set of alloy wheels would improve its looks 100%!
This is going to be a gem when it’s finished,as usual, top work guys, great vid,who watches wheeler dealers when you and chris are on our screens! 👍👍👍👍
Love the way you set the music to Chris's feet movements when he was was working on the inner wing!!! Billiant work Rob
Looks well for the age, you have to finish the outside of the van, before the inside, now that the MOT is sorted inside should be less time, but i know use 2 are like lol , it will look mint either way
This is a cute little camper van, great work as always guys, another one rescued from destination scrapyard❤️.
Glad to see the boys doing the business, Rob please give us a video of you telling your wife she's is getting a weekend away in it lol. So they got the MOT but still have work to do you dont see many of these around now. Stay healthy stay happy everyone.
My mum's neighbour had one of these for about 5 years, they're not a bad wagon, he didn't have any major or recurrent issues with it... Surprising for a Talbot!! 😂
Good result boys!
Yeah, a few things to sort out but it's mostly minor things as you say
We've got one exactly the same it was a barn fine good van has been great during this lockdown
Well done on the mot, I never doubted you guys for a second.
Get the outside done and then give the inside a complete update, these things are fetching a fortune at the minute
Really enjoying this one, Rob & Chris. It reminds me of my old neighbour's Renault camper when I was a kid. He maintained it fastidiously, updating things like the upholstery and carpets, and even though it was probably knocking 30 years old (B reg, I think) when he had to let it go, it was a lovely thing to be in, and mechanically spot on. Thanks for the nostalgia trip, guys 👍
keep the camper vid's coming :)
Magic! Great to see you repair this so well, happy camping!! Loved the video.
Crack on with the outside guys ,then the inside ,brilliant viewing ,look forward to the next one on the camper van
I love this wee van, so jealous... great content keep up the good work ...
Good to see someone actually cutting out rotten steel and replacing it properly instead of putting patches over patches that's one thing that does my head in. Great video lads.👍
Hi guy's. Liked the video, especially the exhaust fix. Drilling out a bolt Brocken off in a casting is not as easy as it sounds. Well done Chris.
Brilliant work- what an inspiration you are!
Love the camper van rob and Chris, such perfectionists I live the detail you guys give everything. Attention to detail is exceptional as usual. Definitely the go-to guys on RUclips
Knew you guys would do an ace job of it.
Simple things like the dim headlight. Quick clean and new bulb and 100% again.
Great project. Enjoy !!
It’s a keeper.
Firstly give it a good valet/mop with G3, then a polish. Get yourself a nice set of modern alloys on her and update the interior. Make it look as modern and homely as possible.👍
Hello you Kentish Kampers....😀
I have restored my VW camper over time and I would suggest you concentrate on the interior first, new curtains and cushions, even carpet if necessary. Check the leisure battery condition and the water/waste tanks and pump, fit LED interior lamps throughout. Fit a diesel winter heater.Keep it ready for use at short notice.
They also make a good spare room in case of too many visitors!!
Cordialement,
I would suggest inside first, but know I’ll be happy watching anything.
You guys have so many fantastic projects on the go right now. All top content.
The speed Chris was working, I recon he's already got his tooth brush, pyjamas and Teddy packed for the boys camping trip to Costa Del Margate.
Let’s hope the vehicle fares better than Del Boys bus 🤣
Rob, your enthusiasm for the motor home is really infectious! I’m already dreaming about a “salvage rebuilds weekend rally” in the new forest for all of us subscribers ha ha! Chris is a demon welder, I think he could fix anything 😊 great episode lads , live long and prosper (from an old Thanet boy 👨)
Never a doubt you would make it pass the MOT. I'm glad that there are further videos coming on this project. Thanks.
I love all your videos ,there is so much variety that you always get just right . True pro, s that do all the jobs properly which is great to see . What ever you do with the camper you will enjoy it with a weekend away I’m sure . Thank you both again for your hard work to bring such great content for me and my wife to watch 👌
Love it guys, boys road trip tour of scrapyards?
Brilliant. Max & Paddy style tour of the scrapyards :-)
Great idea about leaving the welding repair visible so the MOT tester can see the true fix
As it’s raining all the time at the moment 🥴, maybe start the inside 😀, great work again, nice to see a proper job done 👍
Great effort, looking forward to the next one on the motor home 👍👍
Had one similar to this for 6 years.
Very reliable, took us to France a few times.
They do tend to suffer from rust underneath but ok if you keep it under control.
Love how Rob is SO excited about an this old camper
Another great SRUK Video!! Really nice to see in detail the welding repair & how you guys solved the washer pump issue, I'm not brave enough to try stuff like that. Can't wait to see what you guys do with it, smarten up the interior, sort the outside, has the makings of a great long term project there. Keep this one long term & don't flip it. Maybe now the show season is coming back slowly why not go to a couple of car events with it, and do some videos there?? Stay safe guys
Well done rob and chris good work with the motorhome give the inside a refresh
With the weather this week do the inside👍😊
Great job so far guys. Do next whatever you want to do...we shall be here watching and enjoying.
Cheers, Bob
I would clean up the inside so that you can use it - ditch those awful curtains. Use it for a bit and on rainy days do the other bits of bodywork. I am intrigued as to how the inside will look once it is all spruced up.
Personally, i would clean up the rust and seal everything, to stop any future rot, do that first, then tackle the interior, Then once you have the interior as you like it, do a couple of Rob's days out videos, visiting car museums, such as Beauleigh Motor museum, & other things of interest with your wife, Chris can do the same, possibly a classic car show, we all know how Chris likes his classic cars.
Yet another great video, personally I would get the outside work done first..
Fantastic video Rob and Chris, lovely motorhome and once you have finished with it, it`ll be even better Im sure. Enjoyed the video very much. "thumbs up"
Your face gets all Smiley when you do a campervan. I'm the same with my self built one. A Sprinter mot failed builders van I converted myself including poptop roof. Just driving it has me grinning like a Cheshire cat. 👍
What a lovely camper. I love your enthusiasm and attention to detail - subscribed!😊
Your smile on showing us that Pass lit up my screen .. well done both of you - I would start on the inside especially if you are going to use it :)
I have owned three of these, excellent vans basically. But all mine had serious rust problems on the front bulkhead. Take out the windscreen, because of bad drainage and some slight condensation and leaks around the screen there was serious rust under there. By the time it showed outside the inner bit was gone beyond repair . Whole new bulkhead had to be fitted, expensive.
I love watching the inside being done 😀 top to bottom inside out 👍❤️
Yes agree with John that way you will find lots more to do . LED the lights less drain and dye curtains I did mine" goldfish orange " and what a difference a dye makes .GO FOR IT ENJOY IT Keep safe keep em posted .
Chris. The thing that sticks out for me is the rust on the wheel arches. So that would be my choice for the next job.
Great to see the old girl getting some loving and proper repairs, not on Instagram,is that the only place you sell your vehicles once they are ready?keep up the good work guys 👍🏴
It is bud 👍
I think give it a good clean and polish outside. She's a nice little camper in all fairness 👍. Loved the welding too. That's one thing I wish I could do myself.
Excellent work and can’t wait to see the next one. Thanks for sharing this with us take care
A good clean inside first. Then a nice tidy up for the outside, nice little time capsule. THUMBS UP>
Would do the inside, new carpet, curtains, covers for seats, stain the wood or replace. Go a nice dark grey or something, tint the windows maybe or a blind. Then tart up the outside :P
Love to see cleaning up and treating the rust and then re sealing it all
plod away as your doing lads.always great content..respect from Scotland.
That Hilux tub just needs a new floor sorted and Chris would find a way for it either source one from another similar pick up or fabricate a similar one and put in a bed liner or similar stuff to finish it off .On the caravan id crunch the numbers and get some more vans in !!
Great video salvage rebuilds, great work Rob and chris, definitely do the inside, just a good clean on the outside, great little camper 😀👍👌
you should get a habitation cert, that checks for damp inside, gas security etc.
Love this series, although myself and my wife used to use a Pennine Pathfinder folding camper which had a whole host of features - 2 double beds, a radio/cd player, hot and cold water, fridge, 3 ring gas cooker as well as a grill and oven, blown warm air heating, a loo and an awning which doubled the space we had available. Absolute bliss, comfort and glamping with ease. Anything that takes you away from the rat race and allows you to unwind is always a bonus.
Well done guys 👍 definitely an interior refresh for the next video
Total agree with what you said been looking forward to this one and still enjoyed the vids in between. 👍 brilliant 😀
I had a car in for an mot many years ago, they had bodged a repair with foil covered in filler, stuck over the rusty area then shlitzed over the top 👍
Maybe should not say this, my brother and I bought a car from x cop, cardboard in boot coated with black gunck. 🤔
Hi rob and Chris congratulations on reaching 178,000 subscribers and well done for all your hard work
Great to bring it back from the dead. Well done 👍🏻
Rob just remember to ask your Mrs before washing or dyeing those curtains in her washing machine this time 🤔 or your be the one Dying 😂👍🏻.
Sounds like a plan! Clean underside and waxoyl or dynitrol , it’s so cool how you bend forward to turn of camera!, quality honest vid buds👍👍👍🚗🚗❤️
Great video and a good job as always, do it once do it right , campers looking good
Guys, as usual a job well done. Would love to see the outside getting that SRUK make over ;-)
@salvage rebuilds Rob love to see you do the Interia of the motor home and then the outside again when you get chance brilliant as always 👍
What to do next?.. How about finding a nice set of alloy wheels to brighten up the exterior along with a good buff detail and polish. You could also fit an electric power steering conversion - that would make very interesting content. 👍
It has power steering bud 👍
Looking forward to seeing your next video on Friday evening
Rob clean up the inside as you will be living in that then do the outside - that's what I would say - great video
Hello Rob and Chris I can make you some made to measure brand new lined curtains in any colour or fabric you want to have.
I would need to use the current curtains as a pattern though to cut them to shape. You will need a few consumables like Curtain Heading Tape and Thread. Please don't dye them.
It will look terrible as you will just get a dyed flowery pattern and the lining will get dyed too. It will ruin the look of the van.
Happy to help, never thought I would be leaving a post about my sewing skills on here!!! xx
Hi Rob. I didn't expect anything less from Chris ' welding technique. He certainly had a super mentor but more importantly listened aand learned ! Thanks Guys.
Really like your mix of content, no need to change that.
I reckon 4 brand new tyres, I see so many blown due to old age on our caravan holidays, bodywork tidy up, deep clean inside, change the curtains and led bulbs inside/ update the interior lighting.
All that will add value but make it nicer to live with when you are using it. Also good content would be the campervan on a trip?
Well done guys, proper job as always.
Another excellent video, nice to see the old lady returning to good order! I'd tackle the outside next as well, then think about the best way to restore and modernise the interior. Happy camping!.
Would love to see you wrap this and also turn it into a luxury camper. Just looks tired would love to see a bit of a makeover on it.
Love the videos reminds me of doing a massive amount of welding on my transit I did a proper job cutting other bodges out I covered all my hard work with under seal and it failed the retest because he couldn't see the repairs I was fuming to say the least
Been looking forward to this video.
I wasn't disappointed. 😁
A good clean and polish and its as good as any much newer camper, looking forward to the next episode👍
My wife says keep the flower power curtains, vintage👍my campervan is called sue.It is a Renault mk1 trafic ,love it😀
When it’s finshed the camper do a video on a weekend break love to see it in use keep u the good videos best channel on RUclips
