I can really get behind the "I don't know if this hobby is for me" philosophy. I'm an avid golfer and cyclist and I can't count how many times I've seen people drop stupid cash on bikes and clubs and then say, "Wow, this kinda sucks!". I mean, good for me, I get some new stuff on the cheap but I feel bad for them. Keep the videos coming my friend, I really enjoy them. Oh, I love my lawn care too.

Everything you said I totally agree with 👍. Here in the UK I mow 3 times a week and everyone here thinks I'm crazy 🤪.........but my lawn is thick and green and there's is full of weeds and yellow 😃

I love how basic and to the point your videos are! Here is what I do as far as basic cultural practices: Cut 2×/week (on Mondays and Thursdays, mulching) Water 2× a week for 1/2" if it doesn't rain Fert as needed. Transitioning from 4-5×/year to every 4 weeks and slightly smaller doses
Anytime! My neighbors all think the fertilizer I use is what makes it so nice.. not necessarily because in years past I simply used Milorganite and scotts and it still looked better then theirs😂😂 why? Its all about the mow😂

Great vid! You’ve hit it right on the button, I have a great lawn and when people ask me what I do to have such a beautiful lawn, I just give them the basics. Mow Mow Mow, feed and water correctly. All the other stuff like soil test, aeration, de thatch and bio stims will come later once you’ve graduated to those steps.

Man my lawn was looking and coming in great after my scalping a few weeks back when you did yours then we had that hard freeze last week and now it looks like crap! Oh well it will eventually recover again and I will scalp it again next weekend after she drys out really good.
Same. I’m a new Bermuda owner. Scalped a couple of weeks ago and the green up was was coming along. Now after a 30 degree low the green parts are lighter. Should I scalp again next week after it dries and the 80 degree temps move in? Thanks, love the channel. Lots of good info here.

I'll be mowing once a week until growth is enough to need to mow twice a week. The rule applies most during the growing season. Hope this helps. Appreciate ya!
One of our fellow neighbors literally wants to rip out all of her sod and start over with new sod. She asked for my advice and I literally gave her the same tips you are preaching. Told her to keep her existing sod, add preemergent at least twice a year, fertilize, and to mow more than every 10 days (which was when her lawn company would come out)! I’m pretty sure I just saved her a couple grand on new sod lol!

New viewer...and I'm sold on this lol. Bought a sprayer to mount on my mower and ready to get after it. Thoughts/advice on what pre & post emergents and fertilizers to use that are PET SAFE? Is it just a matter of letting them dry before you let the dogs out or do I need to look for SPECIFIC pet safe products?
Right on. Thanks for being here. Yeah, most products you'll just have to let dry before letting pets back on the lawn. Very few effective ones are pet safe. I'm a fan of Spectracide weed control products. For fertilizers, I use inexpensive ProCare products from Lowe's. Nothing fancy but all I need. Hope this help. Appreciate your support.

Quite possible. St. Aug. as you know is not very tolerant to cold temperatures and it was mighty cold. Of course it could also be that you just haven't had warm enough temps yet depending on where you're located. We know you're moving to a new home and that is very exciting! But, it's OK to prune out those low hanging branches on your trees by the road. They won't grow "up" they will only grow out. It's been bugging me - so, I thought you care about that too.

I live in Wisconsin, nice lake front property about 20' above the shore. Plenty of clay in the hillside, but up top it's very sandy here too. Moved in last year and my vegies didn't grow for squat. Thinking either raised garden or 5 gallon buckets this year. And the lawn is pretty poor too.

LOL good question. I will say, I have videos of me in my rocking chair in the garage, sitting still on the driveway or pickle bucket, standing still in spots, or pacing like this one. Of course, there are exceptions. But the fact is, frequent mowing is good for grass. There's no way around that. It is what it is. I know people who mow every other day on very short cut bermuda grass. Because of the turf type and height, it has to be mowed that often. I never said it was great advice for everyone. Not every grass type is the same. People have to assume some sort of responsibility for what's best on their lawns. I'm not gospel truth. Just here to help. Appreciate ya watching and commenting.

I live in Wisconsin, nice lake front property about 20' above the shore. Plenty of clay in the hillside, but up top it's very sandy here too.
Moved in last year and my vegies didn't grow for squat. Thinking either raised garden or 5 gallon buckets this year. And the lawn is pretty poor too.

LOL good question. I will say, I have videos of me in my rocking chair in the garage, sitting still on the driveway or pickle bucket, standing still in spots, or pacing like this one. I get the point on mowing alot, but thats not great advice for everyone. Ive seen big lawns damaged from mowing every 3 days with a heavy tractor
Of course, there are exceptions. But the fact is, frequent mowing is good for grass. There's no way around that. It is what it is. I know people who mow every other day on very short cut bermuda grass. Because of the turf type and height, it has to be mowed that often. I never said it was great advice for everyone. Not every grass type is the same. People have to assume some sort of responsibility for what's best on their lawns. I'm not gospel truth. Just here to help. Appreciate ya watching and commenting.
@@BudgetLawns yessir and I’m letting the viewers know who look at comments who dont have bermuda and have 4 inch tall fescue. Dont want to drive a mower on that tall cut turf 3 times a week or it will damage it.
