Argentinian Food Feast 🍽FIRST TIME TRYING ASADO 😋What to Eat in Argentina.

- Argentina Asado Feast! While in Mendoza, Argentina we thought it was the perfect time to try Argentinian food! This was our first time trying Argentinian Asado/Parrilla!
To start things off, earlier in the day we tried a food that came to Argentina from Italy, Milanese! Made from veal, the meat is pounded and breaded, this type was topped with cheese, bacon and green onion. We found it at Jebb’s in Chacras de Coria.
After this we got a small treat from a local bakery, a cookie called Alfajores. We had tried these in Chile and we’re happy to try it again in Argentina.
Lastly we headed for a huge Asado meal at a restaurant called Anastasio El Pollo. Here we had Provolo (cheese melted over a fire served with fried bread), loads of Asado with tonnes of different types of meats, grilled veggies and chicken.
ABOUT ARGENTINIAN FOOD
Argentine cuisine is described as a cultural blending of Mediterranean influences with and very small inflows, Indigenous, within the wide scope of agricultural products that are abundant in the country.

I lived in Argentina as a young man for two years. I never appreciated how deprived my culture was with regard to food (USA). After a meal, I would think that this is the best food I have ever eaten, and then the next day would come and I would eat again. Argentine food is very underrated and unappreciated. There is nothing so wonderful as a family asaddo that lasts from 2 pm till 3 am where everyone eats, talks, drinks, eats and we are in the garden/yard the entire time. It's sublime.
As an argentinian, this comment is beautiful to me! Thanks for the words!

Man hope you eat the chinchulin, it's the best of parrillada.
The morcilla its made from cooked blood, and the things you don't eat from the pork, like cartilages, foots and stuffs; with some green onion and some typical spices from here (oregano, parsley, garlic, pepper, ají molido, pimentón, ground nutmeg, etc)
Those alfajores here are called "Marplatenses" because them are from Mar del Plata, and the best alfajores are Havanna (In my opinion). There are other kinds of alfajores like "de maicena", "Cordobeses" (come frome Cordoba), "Santafesinos" (from Santa Fe). All are basically the same: two cookies with dulce (dulce de leche, cordobeses generally are filled with dulce de fruta, etc.)
And something about "milanesas". That one you ate it's called Napolitana, but it isn't traditional at all. The traditional it's like a pizza (tomato sauce, ham and muzzarella with some oregano and tomato slice). "La napolitana" or "napo" it's not called that way for Napoles (Napoli) but for a restaurant called "Napoli" in Buenos Aires where it was selled for the first time at the ends of the 1940s.
Hope you really enjoy Argentina. Our food isn't very original, we have like a mix from all cultures like spanish, italian, arab and it's not so spicy like others countrys traditional food, but we have like the best meat on the planet. Anyway, hope you realley enjoy the country, not only the food but the landscape around here. Mendoza and the south (Patagonia) are the most beautifull landscape in the country (again, in my opinion)
Sorry for my bad english, hope you can understand what I tried to write :P And thanks a lot for giving diffusion to our food, specially the asado!!!!
Elias thanks so much. We wanted to try the Napolitana but this place didn't have it. We're having a blast so far... get ready for a whole lot more - Trevor
Well my friend Elias you are totally right although, those things that you usually don't eat, like cartilages and pork foot, are actually the stuff that is the second most important things in one of our most traditional dishes of all... the Locro, Locro is (explanation more for the channel than for you because I'm sure you know) a colonial dish, made by the low classes with the stuff that the high classes throw away, this "story" of "People using the left-overs to make a dish" is all over America, in Venezuela is the hallaca or Tamal in Argentina, Mexico, and Bolivia, in Argentina the Locro is the main dish of our patriotic dates, mainly the Worker's Day. that is a dish that they should try if they're still in Argentina or think in comming back.
Elias90 FUCK Havana, Cachafaz FTW !!!
Hey I'm Argentine, and I have grow up in a ranch and a fabric of sausages. The morcilla is made with the meat and skin of all the head of the pork. First we boil the heads, then we took of all the meat and skin, then we cut in little pieces in a mchine and we added condiments (spices) and then blood. Then we put all in a and don't know the name and then we put all the morcillas in hot water 85 ºc, for 20' and then became hard. So the blood is cooked, and then you cook again to eat at a grill or in hot water. So you can eat no worry. They are cooked two times...
@@DelightfulTravellers You have to try the sweet morcilla !!!!

We were in Argentina ten years ago and the Parrillas were so good! Meat overload 😋
the "chimichurri", a bad translation of "give me the curry" is the hottest sauce you can find in Argentina, and it's not spicy if you compare it with any sauce from South and Central America .. Argentines don't eat almost anything hot spicy.
the Argentine does not eat very spicy
I must disagree. There are some of us that love spicy things. Ají Puta Parió is a good example. Also there is a hot spicy version of Chimichurri. The name is believed originary from Spain, in Euskera there is a mix sauce with assemblance called Tximitxurri and means Mix. So...

When I went to Mendoza I also ate there. A wise decision! All the food is incredibly delicious! I'm glad you liked it!
Good to know we chose right. We also though the food was delicious - Trevor
I'm Argentinian and the Alfajores come in all different sizes and with more or less dulce de leche (the ones that you ate we call the Masas Finas) And of course, they are Argentinian.
I eat the provoleta alone, without bread, I think that is more tasty.
The empanadas come in all different flavors and sizes, and we usually eat them with our hands.
The "other sausage" is Morcilla, and it's delicious.
Also the Milanesa is great with cheddar but makes it more dry, we eat it alone, with a cream cheese or Napolitana (that has tomato sauce, a creamy cheese and ham).
I really enjoyed your video, now I'm not in Argentina and watching this video reminded me how much I miss all that food!
Nice video! And yeah the (asado) of Argentina is very delicious😋🍽

Honestly it was refreshing to see you eat that Pollo a la parrilla (the chicken) and enjoy it so much, Anna! Usually here most people prefers the meat/steak when eating Asado. Also Trevor, most meat you ate here was 'well cooked' because you went to eat at Parrillas (restaurants), when people make Asado in their home they cook it to mostly everyone's personal preference, so you'll have some very red and juicy pieces and some more well cooked one, so everyone can eat the meat just as they like it. If you guys plan on coming back, some suggestions: you should try the morcilla in a bread, just like you did with the provoleta (and without the skin, which is probably the most commented thing on this video, right along with eating empanadas with you hands haha), and should ask a local to make you Asado at their home if you made some friendships (if not, Im sure anyone here in the comments would be willing to), try all different kinds of Alfajores (which are ours btw), try our stews (Guiso de lentejas, Mondongo, Locro) and our pizza. We're most recognised for our meat (and dulce de leche), but honestly any food you try here is so good. 'If you are a meat and potato person, this country was made for you' haha so true! Hope you had a good time here and come back soon! Im off to watch the rest of your videos now ;)

I seriously can’t believe Chileans sell alfajores with DULCE DE LECHE like those are from them, I mean come on, there is nothing more Argentinian than dulce the leche
Es culpa de Arcor eso, exporta alfajores tradicionales de argentina a otros países y así nosotros perdemos la cultura por culpa de esos imbeciles
They have dulce de leche as far north as Cuba and Mexico.
