Congrats on 10k bro! For the fact you make some bloody good and relatable videos, you deserve it!
Love Argentina! Thanks Curls 😎
Hello. Nice video.
Some remarks and comments to help understand what you have tasted.
1. Please, start eating the empanadas from one of the corners. There are many beef empanadas recipes and some are "explosive" because they are very juicy and when you bite them will spill the juice. There are many traditional flavours of empanadas although the beef one is the iconic: ham and chesse, ham a blue cheese, chicken, "humita" (sweet creamy corn, from a dish of northwestern Argentina). Now at Buenos Aires you may find som new "cool" flavours like "cheese burguer" or made with special cuts of beef that give different tastes.
2. Alfajor is basically two soft biscuits with a filling between them and covered with diferent ingredients. There are "triple" alfajores that have three biscuits with two fillings. There are some alfajores which are traditional of some provinces of Argentina. The main filling is "Dulce de Leche" (very well pronounced) that is NOT caramel. It's a milk jam made by slowly cooking milk with lots of sugar and some vainilla. But there are some alfajores with fruit jam as a filling or chocolate mousse. The two main types of alfajres are " de Chocolate" (two biscuits, with dulce de leche filling and covered in chocolate), or "de Dulce de Leche" (two biscuits, with the dulce de leche filling, but covered with meringue or sugar glace or powdered sugar.
3. The cañoncito de dulce de leche (literally Dulce de Leche little cannon) is one of the many "facturas"=pastries made in bakeries in Argentina: medialunas (croissants, but very different to french croissants, but with the same shape), cañoncitos, vigilantes). We also have viennese pastries.
4. The Bon-O-Bon is a bonbon made with sweet peanut butter with a wafer base and covered with chocolate. There are different types: with mil chocolate, white chocolate and dark chocolate. The maker is ARCOR which is an Argentine company that makes sweets, canned goods, jams and many other products and exports to a hundred countries.
5. Fel-Fort is one of the classical chocolate companies. The Marroc is a traditonal chocolate bombon with milk chocolate and white chocolate with peanut butter.
6. Sweets get sticky after some time after the elaboration, but they are still good. You sould try also from ArCor (it stands for Arroyito - Córdoba, it's home city) the honey sweets.
Dulcie de leche is caramelized sweetened condensed milk. I have made some by boiling a tin of sweetened condensed milk in a big pot of water for several hours.
Homemade dulce de leche : 1 lt of milk , 1 Kg of sugar , 100 gr of bicarbonate , put all on a pot on low fire a stir constantly for about 1 hr , sorry for mispelling argentino here
