“The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again.
But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.
Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall;
don’t be happy when they stumble.
For the Lord will be displeased with you
and will turn his anger away from them.
Don’t fret because of evildoers;
don’t envy the wicked.”
Proverbs 24: 16-19 NLT
The green screen at the beginning was funny when you took it down. Goodbye old layout and hello to the new start. You saved alot off the old layout. Thanks for sharing the take down with us.
GOD BLESS 🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕
Thank you for this video. Tearing apart a layout can be painful. At the same time, building a new layout is so much fun! Can't wait to watch you build your new layout. Thank you for the tips in part preservation! Have a great day.
This episode must have really tugged at your heart. The disassembly shots really showed how your layout was visually deceiving by looking much larger that it was. I'm anxious to watch as you apply new ideas and lessons learned to the modular next generation.
The Twin Valley Railroad was a one of my favorite layouts on RUclips; it punched well above its weight with all the operations it offered on just a pair of doors. That said, I’ve been looking forward to seeing the new layout for months. Here’s to the future!
Didn’t know you could soak track. Good tip.
I like to use water soluble glue such as white glue to glue my track because I use a separate roadbed and all I have to do to reuse it is add some water and it pulls off no bending
I think this is probably a lot more helpful than many people might realize. I mention this because, now hang with me, I have done some of the Bob Ross style painting. Oil paints. They take forever to dry and it's probably not a great thing to just try to wash it all down a drain. It doesn't just wash away with soap. Bob never shows you how to clean up after. This is helpful in showing a lot.
Thanks Jimmy, and thanks for the proceeds for some stuff going to help with clean up and recovery from after the hurricane!
I have an old layout I am slowly tearing down as I incorporate stuff into the new layout. The new layout is sectional and designed to fit a space at our place up north. I am building in anticipation of a move.
A heartbreaking excercise Jimmy. I feel for you but look forward to seeing the new development.
Ok ok ok ok, second comment. The ending was great. I loved the transition. The emotion with seeing from one to the other is great.
Oh no! My cup of coffee will never taste the same.😢
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Okay wait…. You filmed it 😅. Okay… let’s watch
I’m gonna miss the layout
I’ve just spent a day ripping up my flex track and woodland scenics foam roadbed off my baseboards! The baseboard XPS foam is on the way, new track is coming… exciting times! Hopefully fewer schoolboy errors this time 😂
tore about my layout in cape may, saved as much as I could, lots of switches, buildings, and one entire piece which was a staging yard, also saved some scenery also. he is right, save as much as you can
It hurts to see all that blood, sweat and tears go away!
At the end of the day, one of the most valuable things you can take from your layout is the experience of building it. Great video, as always!
Whoo-wah... That had to have ya feelin' some way... Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope the new build helps you get over your the demolition
Change can be exciting and difficult, but sometimes you just have to do it. Can't wait to see your new build. 😉
Since you posted a video, I'm guessing (and hoping) you and your family are safe from the effects of Helene- I've been through many hurricanes when I lived in NC starting with Fran-
I feel so decieved Jimmy! A green screen. For how long? Can we even trust the new layout is real? 🤣 Nice trick!
Funny you are doing thus niw. I'm about to start the same thing with my 15' yard . I'm taking it down completely and rebuild. Wish me luck.
Did you manage to reuse your old XPS foam baseboards at all, or are they basically trashed? I’m guessing removing glued down stuff would destroy the foam surface.
Anxious to see what you have in mind for your new layout. Will it be n scale again (hope and assume so since you saved your track for reuse)? Will you be sharing your track plan with us? I've torn up 2 n scale Kato layouts before I built my present one, and salvaged all I could (track, structures, electronics, etc) and it does help. But the high you get in planning the new layout is real, and makes any regrets about the old fade fairly quickly. Looking forward to your sharing that process with us.
Ron
I built an HO around the walls layout with an 11 track staging yard below the main yard. In 2017 it was time to sell the townhouse and move to a house with a full basement. I saved all the track, all the wood, all the screws, track nails etc. Almost all of it got recycled into a new layout under construction starting in 2020 after finishing the unfinished basement. I didn't take a video of it however, I did take some picture and posted them at AtlasRescueForums.
Hope all is good with you and your family after the hellene, after seeing all the news footage, my prayers go with you.
Looking forward to your new build
I am currently going through this same event, and wow it is a big job after 20 plus years of construction and scale changing. Hats off to you as I know what you have gone through. Enjoy the new build.
WOW Good trick with the green screen! Best to you on your new layout build!
Great video. Hard to take down an old layout, but always fun to start a new one. Thanks for sharing.
Are you going to use just Klawndyke Modules on your new layout or will there be others?
So happy to see this, so excited for what is to come
Bitter sweet man. Bitter sweet.
Great video but kind of sad too.
They grow up so fast 🥲
Sad to see it go. Best of luck on the new one
Great tips, Jimmy!
You look tired and sad. It's a shame when a fun hobby becomes "work." Looking forward to the new build.
