Thank You for the video Gary! I'm all about repurposing agriculture waste to grow fungi.. Local Farmers near me just harvest soybean and im sure the mushrooms are going to love the hulls from them... Keep them videos coming Gary, many times something I learned from you improved my cultivation skills.
Love your videos. Can you do one discussing the mushroom "quality" vs substrate type. I met a shroom farm owner that insisted there is a large difference between straw grown and HWFP grown Oyster shroms. What are your thoughts?
I agree on this from a farmers perspective- from the consumer side Im not sure if there is a huge difference for oyster mushrooms. I think there are huge differences in shiitake methods, lions mane, and chestnut mushrooms based on substrates too and humidification systems drastically affect quality as well.
Tangent: at some point (soon?), the mushroom industry will have to confront plastic. Hopefully there will be an effort to get ahead of it and make changes. Otherwise I worry that at some point the public will negatively associate mushrooms with plastic. Look at fish, traditionally thought of as healthy, now associated with heavy metals. Mush love
there are actually fungi that consume plastics - they are being researched heavily but do pose some risk since our world is built so heavily on plastics - a catch 22
I hope the plastic eating mushrooms are deployed at scale. To me that's kind of separate from how much plastic is involved in modern mushroom cultivation.
I was looking for unicorn bags and read Pegasus Bags page. It was talking a lot about plastic and was weirdly defensive. Got me thinking about it. Seems like a problem
these videos are really well made and its nice to be able to find good videos about individual topics. 💚
Great video. Quality content👌♥️

How about using coco coir with saw dust for growing oyster,
yes that would work well
@FreshfromtheFarmFungi do we also need to add more supplement like bran etc.
