    Thankyou so much. I've been so undecided on what substrate and if I'd pasturize or steralise etc. I now know I'm going to cold pasturize bulk as that's simply what's most accessible to me!

    Just curious, I’m somewhat new to food canning so maybe I’m missing something, but could you not use the proper lids to the jars to sterilize the substrate and keep it shelf stable. Then when you’re ready to inoculate you could crack the seal on the jar and then close it back up immediately after?

    Can coffee ground substrates be pasteurized? Great video btw

    • @Fungiacademy
      @Fungiacademy  3 месяца назад

      Actually the brewing of coffee is a way of pasteurizing the coffee grounds, just make sure you inoculate it all the same day

    I wish you could do a video on each method with a fully detailed explanation as how to buy or build pots and barrels on detail would be great with nothing left behind , with up to the dumbest details, this could help naive people like me.

    Why is pasteurization suggested for substrate vs. sterilizing it ??? How do you know which one to use?

    • @Fungiacademy
      @Fungiacademy  9 месяцев назад +3

      Basically less nutrient substrates like bulk substrates (Wood, straw etc) can be pasteurized while higher nutrient substrates like grains and anything with sugar should be sterilized. For more info on why pasteurization can be better check out our other video! ruclips.net/video/dy7WJA1lPJQ/видео.html

    • @jasonhiggins6236

      They grow outside due to mere quantity and chance... We do not have universal quantity nor should we count on chance

      Well where I'm at there's about a million beef cows strolling around dropping huge warm piles of dung on the spores. That's about "perfect" as far as nature can be. The truth is there's probably a whole list of contam just floating around your home so you gotta be more careful. I let trich out a year ago and still have to be super clean in my hobby.

      In the wild, it's survival of the fittest. In domestic settings, we don't want the fittest as sometimes the fittest is a mold we can't eat or a bacterium that will put compete put desired mushrooms. We don't care if the mushroom that grows is the strongest and best... Because we're going to eat it. All we care about as getting as many mushrooms as possible
