  • 🙌 Today I’m sharing 3 occupational therapist-approved tips for kids with JIA (juvenile idiopathic arthritis) to improve their quality of life!
These are inspired by my 21 years of living with rheumatoid arthritis plus 12 years working as an occupational therapist ❤️
✅ TIP 1: If your hands hurt while handwriting, try the “Taylor Swift” or adaptive tripod grasp!
✅ TIP 2: Consider compression gloves to reduce stiffness, swelling and pain!
✅ TIP 3) Create a “Coping Toolbox” to have on hand when you’re feeling overwhelmed - fill it with things that bring you joy and remind you to take it one day at a time.
Occupational therapists can help people with any form of inflammatory arthritis improve their quality of life by suggesting modifications for daily activities to reduce pain and fatigue. We can also address the mental health challenges that come from chronic illness. Learn more at @aotainc
What would you add to this list?
Thank you Dr Singla, from “Rheum to Grow” pediatric rheumatology clinic in Houston, TX - it’s an incredible integrative rheumatology clinic that features a truly multidisciplinary, holistic approach. Learn more at ‪@rheumtogrowtx‬

Where did you get those cool compression gloves? I have only seen and have them in black and gray colors. I love that color! ❤
