Not quite spot-on for a first appearance Batman, but still definitely one the better-looking Batman figures that McFarlane has made.

Say what you want about Mcfarlane, but they went from plastic cape to shitty flimsy cloth cape to good quality wired cape in what, less than 1 year? Todd really delivered on this front.

$22.99 for a nice wired cape! Also, a decent Batman lol. Those capes alone cost near the price of the figure. I’m just happy for the future with cloth capes.

At least the platinums are actual repaints and not just unpainted figures. This looks like one of the few platinums I would not mind getting, but yeah fingers crossed I get the purple gloves in my preorder.
Those gloves look like they're the kind that they use in movies when they light a stuntman on fire. Hope Batman doesn't drop his Batkeys, he's not picking those up with the sausage fingers. These figures look awesome though. Odd they didn't include a trigger hand since Batman's early appearances he definitely used a pistol. Wonder what the odds are of getting a platinum version with my Amazon pre-order for this one or Azrael. Capes on both look awesome. Great couple of figures.
Very, very few times did Batman use a gun in his early days.

That classic Batman head with the further apart ears would make a perfect JL or Justice League Unlimited Batman.
If you own both of these, you can make a comic accurate batman by swapping out the gloves and head of the platinum edition with the normal one, creating a comic accurate figure.
I for sure want both of these. Hope I can catch a chase online or in the wild. Good luck to everyone.
This might be blasphemous but I might be removing that head shading from the platinum and making my definitive version of this guy.

I would use the extra hands that came with the Riddler for the platinum version of this Batman. Aside from that I like how it does look

I like the look of that figure a lot and I've got one on pre-order. I don't mind admitting though, that if I end up with the the platinum variant, the blue on the head and the boots is going to be painted over in black. The blue lining on the cape looks cool, though.

I found the standard at my local Target for the first time yesterday, then find the Platinum edition today at the same Target. Man, they have some serious stocking issues lol...and yes I bought them both (because reasons) :)
I just got him and I cannot put him down. He is an amazing figure.

I got a box of Multiverse figures today, and I got the chase of this Manga Batman and 1st appearance of Superman.
It looks like he’s wearing like 6 other pairs of gloves over his gloves. That’s a perfect sculpt if that’s the case.
Excited for the standard version! They should've given the Platinum version a square belt and tweaked the bat symbol to when they started giving it a head.
These don’t come out until May unfortunately. You got a VERY early copy.

I may not even care about the purple gloves for Bruce Wayne but I understand why it's purple because I think these Detective Comics #27 Batman figures look so cool especially the accessories they come with, I don't have them but hopefully I could get the Knightfall Batman black and grey version,or Hush Batman black and grey, Great review on them both Toyshiz.

The no gripping hands option is confusing. The thought process seems miniscule. McFee is like "yea these hacks will buy anything from me."
It's such an odd decision that they did that but, fortunately the wrench isn't an essential prop.
This would been a good time to have sculpted a new mold for this batman... or use the knight fall one. Otherwise, I agree with you on things. I'm thinking they just did what they did to save money to sell this at a reasonable price.
McFarlane has the weirdest cel-shading. It never conforms with the sculpt and it drives me crazy haha
Great looking figure and great review! Hope Todd does more wired cape figures going forward. Will be picking up the standard version (the blue on the mask of the platinum one doesn't do it for me personally). I'm probably in the minority but I usually prefer the plastic capes over the cloth ones or at least the cloth ones McFarlane's been doing but the wired cape beats them all for me, very Mafex-like. The gloves look kinda goofy though, like big oven mitts lol but still great figure overall.

This is exactly what a Platinum Chase should be. Just a repaint that has a few small changes and not a whole different version of a characters costume.

When I get this one I'm swapping the hands for White Knight Batman's hands, they're black which matches better (though isn't as comic-accurate) and actually have the glove cuff!
On Amazon it says June 19.
If you want that little tuft of the glove, try the ones from the classic riddler, they are removable

I figured the head would have been from the batman/two face figure it kinda has the more accurate ear shape.
In McFarlanes defence, the comic images don’t have the tuft of the glove.

Cape looks great! But I’m tired of Platinum versions bc it’s making the releases more of a disappointment that you can’t actually buy the figure you want (looking at you Azrael). Ankles on this Batman figure are so bad, in combo with the single neck piece, might pass on this figure. Thanks for the awesome review!
