You know, this song really isn't talking about the characters of Epic Battle Fantasy. It's talking about us. Us, the player, who played these games, who went on these adventures, looking for a way to spend our lonely and boredom filled hours. We made these games a part of our lives, possibly a part of our childhoods. These games are talking about how we went on the adventure of life, how once there was nothing more to do with these games we moved on to other things, to search for new answers to our boredom. We left these games behind to see the rest of the world, but even after all of that we still come back to this series because no matter how much nostalgia we might have for these games, they still remind of us of when life was more simple, when we could just sit down and play a game merely because we enjoyed it. Even after all these years, these games still remind us all of where home truly is, in our heart, because that is where these games belong. I don't care if this is an over-complicated look on this song, because it's what I got from it, and I thank you, everyone, who helped make these games a possibility, but most specifically to Matt Roszak, the creator of the games, and to Phyrnna, or in the days of Epic Battle Fantasy 3, HalcyonicFalconX, who made everything from the most radical and badass music like Wings, the most enchanting and mystical music like Crystalis Fantasia, or the most beautiful and heartwarming music like this song, a Breeze from Home. It's like, this feels like the end, you know? The final challenge of EBF5, and the end of a series that was childhood for a lot of us, hell, I can still remember chatting about EBF3 back in the middle school days, and playing EBF1 and 2 back on Onemorelevel before that. Being like 12, discovering Newgrounds, watching One More Final Battle, Attack of the Black Mages, following the development of EBF4 and 5. From the very first wave of slimes in EBF1, to taking out Zombie Goku on epic, failing at the minigame but still powering through the sandworm, the hydra twins, and smashing the tank in 2, getting those medals, fighting Akron, and figuring out strats for the three monolith fight in 3, getting surprised by Godcat, tracking her down, and climbing Battle Mountain in 4, even that cat at the end of the foe rush with like ten extra levels! All the excitement around 5, the demos, the beta, the launch, everyone trying to figure out the Valhalla, in the discord working out strats. Where did all the time go, loves? Still remember a day in my freshman year of high school where I did a quick playthrough of EBF1 when there was downtime. I graduated college a few months ago. I'd like to give my greatest thanks to Matt and Phyrnna for making these great games possible over all these years. Without your amazing talents, I'm not sure I would have such a passion for RPGs without this series
I just reached this song in EBF5 and holy shit man. I've known this series was special, but purchasing the bonus material and getting to that boss really made something just _click_, y'know? The boss's speech, the gimmick of that encounter, the lyrics to this song. Having started with the first game as a kid, playing every game as they came out, and now having seen the culmination of it's grand narrative. Man, the series really did live up to its name. I couldn't even bring myself to check out the final challenges. I just had to ride the wave of all that straight into the final boss. And now that its all over, I can't help but to cry tears of joy over it all. Phyrnna, I know you're on haitus right now, and I know that this series is Matt's brainchild, but you've been a big part of this too. I dunno what went down, or what's currently going on in your life. I don't even know if you'll see this, or if I'm just doing the cringy parasocial relationship thing writing this. But I hope you get your own heroes welcome when you're ready to come back to our community. Beating EBF5 tonight would not have been nearly as special for me without your music in the game.
Matt gave me some of tha happiest memories of my childhood, and here I am now, a 23 year old man, and I'm still playing his games and crying like a baby to this song. Thank you, Matt. Thank you for everything.
@@Phyrnna I would love to see more of your compositions in games and even for tv shows/anime. You really have a deep talent for a wide variety of soundtracks.
I've bought the game when it first released, played through it quickly and didn't do much of the extra content. But finally, I sat down, fought every boss, etc, and when I reached God, I wasn't expecting such a beautiful tune. It made me feel . . . nostalgic. And once I've read the comments on this video of what the meaning of the lyrics meant, and combined with the music video, I've shed tears of joy. Made my heart feel light, and inspired me. Thank you to Matt for creating this series that I hold dear to my heart, and thank you to Phyrnna and TroisNyx for such an amazing song. Sincerely, Thank You.
I... I just did it a few minutes ago. Destroyed the Devourer. Protected them. This was the fourth attempt. It took many hours and pepper pods. And now I'm listening to it... and I'm crying. I don't know. A slow chant? Sad guitar? The vocals themselves? It's like a feeling of emptiness inside... But I now know that I did everything right.
It doesn't matter how old this song is, or how much things feel like nothing is going right... This song always manages to make me happy. I feel relaxed, calm, peaceful. Thank you Phyrnna, Matt, Ronja, TroisNyx, and everyone not only part of the EBF team, but the fandom as a whole. You bring so much joy to myself and others. Never forget that.
@@Troisnyx I'm surprised by the reply, but I'm very glad I could help you. Your voice when beautifully with the music, and this song really touched me. Heck, I'm not a crier and when I fought god the combination of his words and this song brought me to tears. So actually thank you. This was amazing.
When this came on in ebf5 I nearly cried. It was SOOOO BEAUTIFUL! I didn't even hear all the lyrics but it was still amazing. I'm glad that I can sing along properly now. (totally didn't cry this time, it was just onion cutting ninjas)
Спустя столько времени, слушая эту песню в груди что то сжимается, и то ли грусть то ли радость, но очень теплые приятные чувства. Спасибо за эти эмоции!
This song really fit the atmosphere of the God battle. It wasn't quote-on-quote 'intense' in the sense of 'these are bad guys and if you lose you die,' it was intense because it was truly a test of strength to see if the characters could stand up to the Devourer. And yet, this soothed my soul. The dialogue during the fight was God encouraging the team that they could do it, and that this is a test of strength, and that really...made me happy, actually. This song is so relaxing, I could fall asleep to it. Thank you Phyrnna and TroisNyx for this absolute gem. You guys rock.
No, it doesn't fit the atmosphere. This music could play during a funeral, not during a boss fight. Not sure how anyone thought this could fit a frikkin' God of all bosses. Give it to Devourer, give it to other bosses and we'll see how wonderful it's gonna be.
@@Pe6De Could you please shut up and let people enjoy things? You don't need to publicize your opinion here. People have come here to reminisce and cry tears of joy, myself very much included. Don't ruin it.

Checkpoint: This song hits different after going two long months without my own computer. Some time in June my two year old computer kinda just died, and the weeks following were filled with the agony of sending it for repairs, *twice* , and landing up with nothing fixed. After it was sent back for the third time, finally able to be refunded, I went to get a new one and, well, there wasn't any at the store, making me wait another week for a new computer. Finally, here I am today, finally able to play Epic Battle Fantasy 4 and 5 after getting them sometime those two months ago. Jeez, I had to go two months only really just being able to borrow my big bro's computer while we was at work, and all I played was TF2. It was fun, but also sad. But now that my new computer's here, I can finally return back home.
i had to keep myself from crying from all the memories i made with ebf. From the instrumental to the vocals to the actual song, This made my day. I'm super late to this but i'm glad I could check it out. I had no idea where I was going with this, but if you read through all of this, have a good day my friend
When you reach the end, hold on to the memories you have made, for sometimes a happy memory can bring you from the edge and keep you going...when the end comes hold on to those memories you have made of happy times close to your heart.
God was such a somber fight unlike anything else in EBF, solely because of this song. You really do a fantastic job crafting songs that set a mood. There is not any one artist whom I so eagerly and impatiently wait for their next release like you. Please, in the name that is beautiful music never stop crafting these artistic pieces.
Hey Phyrnna, Continue making music! We all like that you have a large amount of music types: from instrumental to even beats! Our souls are crying every time we hear it.
That's bring me back to my 9 years old when I first play a game of the series, and now, with 18,I still have the same love and care for this games. Thanks EBF team and phyrna, for creating the unique atmosphere that only your songs can give
I didn't expect this for the insanely difficult secret(ish) boss. I thought it would be some crazy epic hype etc. But this was unexpected, but very welcome.
There is just something about your music. It was just perfect for this game and it will be forever part of my childhood memories. Thanks for making something so special and sharing it.
I...I just don't know. This series, these characters, this album's growth over the series...and now this. Thank you, Phyrnna, Matt, everyone, for this wonderful collaboration that multitudes of people will long remember and cherish. This is truly beautiful.
This track basically killed me when I finally got to it after the 4 trials beforehand. It's the first vocal piece of the EBF series and it really hit... home! It has been quite a ride since I started hearing your stuff since EBF2 -- both you and Matt are capable of great things solo and great things in combination! Thank you for continuing to do what you do and letting us hear your works!
After the dark temple, after defeating the four evil players, i was ready for the last one and i jumped into the portal. But i was not expecting what i found. It was so beautiful i lost myself into all the good memories of the game, of the growing of this series. I didn't want to fight, i was happy. It was a long time since a game made me feel this good. Should i hear this again in the future, it will really bring me a good, nostalgic breeze from home. Thanks for this.
I've heard this song just recently, but considering my life situation, i just realised, how much it fits for me. Being in military, when you have less than 30 days of serving left for you, while hearing this song for the first time... Priceless feeling. Like it was made for you. For them, who are waiting for you. After all the hardships and tough times, being able to say these words is just something beyond that you can explain with words. Home, long have i really roamed, huh? And for sure, long have i dreamed, to have one's dear to you waiting for your return. And now i see the green fields of home. Soon, i'll be home.
I grew up with the EBF series and I remember being there until day one, loving the series. However, I don't think anything that series has done, has impacted me as much as your music. After I discovered you're standalone channel and then your website, and etc. I felt more than I ever have, through your music I felt joy, sadness, excitement, and many others. When i would play a game, walk around, go through my life, and much more I would listen to your music, It helped shape me to be who I am today. I remember listening to your music and it would amplify so much, it would turn a boring day of nothing into pure joy or sadness, among others. You and your music got me through a lot of rough patches, it also helped me think about a lot of things. Some would harm me, and some would help, through it all I knew that regardless of any of that, I loved the fact that I grew up with such an amazing person on this planet. So, thank you for being you, thanks for the memories, and thanks for the ones to come! With that, despite how late I am, welcome back! Finally, once again, thank you!
........ I just felt like listening to this song when I'm alone by myself, alone in my car.. far away from my home. One of the few songs I know that can actually make me cry. I, not to toot my own horn, generally consider myself an emotionally static person, but this song genuinely makes me feel an emotion I can't name, but its definitely something positive, and I have no doubt in my mind that it's because the one who composed this song is Phyrnna. I have to thank you for have given me the best days of my life back when I was a child... timeless hours of enjoyment!!! All because of you! The music and the games! ❤
Not the music you'd expect for the final superboss, but neither is the fight. You get crazy buffs, the boss has no elemental weaknesses or resistances. You're meant to build for raw stats and take it slow. *It's not the last trial. It's a victory lap, for the whole series.*
Yeah, not the one you'd expect and a total disappointment. Sorry, but if you give final boss a music like Blaze of Iris, don't expect that something like "A Breeze From Home" to be a great choice for a Superboss.
@@Pe6De You just love to be negative, don't you? Replying to comments across the video for no actual reason instead of enjoying the music or just not listening to it. It speaks to how hypocritical you are, really.
@@Alice-he2zh Not every boss needs it, but this one does. And vice versa, though I'm afraid that calling your taste "shit" would be complimenting it :) . Now go and weep to this music for the next six hours like you have done till now.
@@Pe6De Does it really need to be bombastic? I'd argue that the music or rather the "subversion of our expectations" is what makes this boss memorable. Because yes, normally a boss of this altitude would have a grand tune to play in it's fight, but because of this song, I'd personally say it prevents this boss from being generic.

@@XavierDarkhand Same here, I found the series during a not so great time in life. Matt and Phyrnna created something that may never get the recognition it deserves, but we are ok with that. Its ours, and its wonderful.
wait.. you said.... MY GOD?...
ahahahahahahah
how ironic...
Armorgames for me, then eventually moved to kongregate, I'm so glad this game is on the Google play store, being able to relive the experience at any time

Hey everyone. So super stoked to see it up. So glad to have been a part of this.

@Crazinatore Thank you for the high praise! I'm so glad you liked it.

Without your amazing talents, I'm not sure I would have such a passion for RPGs without this series
wow props to you for writing this comment
Good to have you back, Phyrnna...We all missed you
Thank you~
Matt gave me some of tha happiest memories of my childhood, and here I am now, a 23 year old man, and I'm still playing his games and crying like a baby to this song.
Thank you, Matt. Thank you for everything.

Bring god back, still haven’t beaten him solo
just captured god today. the fight and the music is so good, man. probably one of my top boss fights in the entire series :)
Thank you for your kind words 💖
I only saw this comment now. And it hit me right in the feels.
😭💖 This is something I desperately needed to hear. Thank you.
@@Troisnyx I'm surprised by the reply, but I'm very glad I could help you. Your voice when beautifully with the music, and this song really touched me. Heck, I'm not a crier and when I fought god the combination of his words and this song brought me to tears.
So actually thank you. This was amazing.
this make me so sad. this music just hits me so hard in the feels. its pretty rare that songs make me tear up. good job phyrnna
When this came on in ebf5 I nearly cried. It was SOOOO BEAUTIFUL!
I didn't even hear all the lyrics but it was still amazing. I'm glad that I can sing along properly now.
(totally didn't cry this time, it was just onion cutting ninjas)
Those damned ninjas.
Thank you for this. Just found Godcat today in EBF5, and this was an absolutely phenomenal piece to listen to as I was playing.
Спустя столько времени, слушая эту песню в груди что то сжимается, и то ли грусть то ли радость, но очень теплые приятные чувства. Спасибо за эти эмоции!
Это чувство того, что ты наконец-то дома.
Thank you for your kindness. 🙏🏽
@@yntxrrr Could you please shut up and not try to stop me from enjoying my freedom of speech? Thank you :) .
No one stops you from crying your tears of joy, but I think it's time you grew up and came to terms with the fact not everyone will agree with your opinion. If a random guy's words on the internet ruin your day, that's not my problem. And don't bother me - I don't care about someone who tells me to "shut up" and I tend to... ensure I don't put up with that sort of person :) .

I played through the whole ebf5 with no spoilers. And fighting the boss... the god, this song came up... my heart sank... I honestly wasn’t expecting such a moment like it. It made me keep playing ebf5. The feeling of going on without spoilers really will surprise you on what’s coming up, I loved that feeling.
This was well worth the wait, really nice singing, guitar, and animations. One of my personal Phyrnna favs.
Thank you so much for loving it!
Welcome home~
@Selim the Succubus Yeah, things are still good right now. And thanks, I hope everything is well for you too.
i had to keep myself from crying from all the memories i made with ebf. From the instrumental to the vocals to the actual song, This made my day. I'm super late to this but i'm glad I could check it out. I had no idea where I was going with this, but if you read through all of this, have a good day my friend

Thank you!
Thank you! 💖
I'm playing EBF5 rn and the song & video were beautiful !
This song is like a hug. I've listened to this whenever I was going through a tough time and immediately felt a little better.
When you reach the end, hold on to the memories you have made, for sometimes a happy memory can bring you from the edge and keep you going...when the end comes hold on to those memories you have made of happy times close to your heart.
... i have no words, that was beautiful Phyrnna.

Thanks EBF team and phyrna, for creating the unique atmosphere that only your songs can give
Thanks for staving of my sadness and existential crisis for just a bit longer.
Its so wonderful to hear your great music now even with vocal! I love it!

I didn't expect this for the insanely difficult secret(ish) boss. I thought it would be some crazy epic hype etc.
But this was unexpected, but very welcome.
Eh. Would prefer crazy epic hype honestly, not a funeral that God will fund me with his insanely powerful attacks.

My main reason to fighting again and again the ultimate secret boss in EBF5.
I honestly cried when I first heard this in game. Your work is incredible.
Still listening to this
This track basically killed me when I finally got to it after the 4 trials beforehand.
Thanks for this.
premieres on 4/20, the funny haha meme date
funny coffee man don’t get it
Ah yes Chesed. Taking a break from watching Nothing there rip apart the welfare team?
I've come back to this, just because of how beautiful this song is.
"A still more glorious dawn awaits. A morning sky, filled with the light of 400 billion suns.
That is the future I see now."

2 years after finishing it and it still is a calm and relaxing as it was back then.

Divine song. I'm crying.
it really shows how much you've contributed to this amazing game series and how much love is also behind it, even if you only made the music for it.
