Mono Chaos And I want Batman to go: "My name is [insert here whatever name you want]" Scarecrow gasps and his eyes open wide: "..... Never heard of you....."
For all you confused people out there. This is a mental battle between Batman and Joker. Batman got infected with Jokers mutated blood from the last game and Joker is living inside him, slowly taking over Batman's body. He intends to do what you see happen in this bit, pretty much make Batman and homocidal maniac who kills everybody and sets Gotham alight. In the sequence that shows Joker killing everybody, you see Joker but it IS Batman, which is why everybody is so shocked that he's killing people. It is Batmans darkest fear, losing himself to Joker. The batmobile is there because when Joker took control, he restyled it and made it into a killing machine. When we see Joker in the restraints back in the Asylum and Scarecrow taunts him, that means Batman is gone and Joker took over. When Joker then gets injected with the fear toxin, we see HIS worst fear, being forgotten. And Batman uses that to lock Joker away inside his mind and retake control permanently. It's a very good conclusion to an excellent plotpoint.
bladske it's not just about the blood taking over him either, batman and the joker have always been two sides of the same coin, two reactions to terrible loss, batman's biggest fear is giving into the jokers brand of madness
+Montesama314 how the hell did scarecrow not notice tha the had transformed intot he joker? You know, like, *THE DISTURBINGLY DRASTIC CHANGE IN APPEARANCE!?!?*
HeavyDonkeyKong Batman didn't literally turn into the Joker. The audience is just seeing the mental shift so we know what's up. What Scarecrow and the people watching Batman's unmasking can see is Batman acting like a nutjob.
I love how, even in Joker's worst fears--which was a hallucination-- Harley is still there for him. He's so bad to her, though... Makes me sad she didn't say anything in his trance. :(
Athif Arif did you play Asylum and read Harley’s bio? It literally says this: “Dr. Harleen Quinzel was Joker’s therapist until she FELL IN LOVE with him” it’s not obsession.
The Joker once again shows himself to be the true villain of the game. It's way better executed than the Arkham Knight subplot's ending, anyway. At least I get to hit Joker with a punch! "Only You," the final song sung in Arkham City, is a background to the slaughter in Batman/Joker's head.
Montesama314 if you think about it, the song describes the relationship that the clown has with Batman. They exist for each other. "You are my destiny" and such. And how "Only you can make this world seem right".
I think the player was releasing some steam in that last part, but honestly if I have Maduro- I meant, the Joker as a punching bag I would also go wild... Maybe even wilder.
The ending of this game presented some horror that rivals true horror games. Even some of the jumpscares in this game were terrifying. Truly a masterpiece of storytelling.
Did anyone else also think that the Joker's rampage was at first actually the Joker-possessed Batman attacking Scarecrow, Gordon and Robin; with the pleading Penguin being the wounded and crawling Robin, the shocked and desperate Riddler being an equally shocked and desperate Scarecrow who's being horrified by what he just unleashed, and Two-Face being Gordon trying to stop the now obvious murderous Batman from unleashing his wrath at Gotham itself, and Alfred trying to reason with Batman was the real Alfred trying to reason with Batman after watching his rampage live on the news?
No, I pretty much took it at face value that it was all some sort of nightmare/hallucination born from Scarecrow's toxin. But your idea would be amazingly dark and definitely lend an even sadder air to the Knightfall Protocol ending if Batman regained himself after the rampage you described and realized he had to make sure he wasn't ever a danger to others again. That being said, I DO think (in the context of the hallucination) that Two-Face, Riddler, and Penguin aren't seeing the Joker's body like the player is. They're seeing Batman fully succumbed to the Joker's influence...which makes me wonder what that would look like in this game. Perhaps something physically similar to The Batman Who Laughs, but with Joker's consciousness rather than just his personality?
Brandon Williams I don’t think he’d undergo any physical changes, rather more the Joker’s mannerisms and personality. The weirdest part would be seeing the normally stone faced and stoic Batman with a large grin and laughing his head off.
I honestly think that is what they're alluding to. Obviously it's a "what if" But considering we see Two Face turn into Gordon, and all the dialogue matches up with what those characters would say, it makes sense. I have actually been trying to figure out who Penguin and Riddler would represent and you pretty much cracked the code
I love the perspective shifts of Batman in this game (Gordon and Joker). It makes wonder why they haven’t made a horror game where you are just some low level criminal trying to rob a building, slowly watching Batman brutally take out your group. It’s at night, skeleton crew working inside. You can try to run away from Batman, you can’t hide from him for long, you can try to fight him but can’t beat him (maybe to a degree but he shatters you if you ever try it again at any point of the duration of the game), you are designed to pretty much lose in every outcome by varying degrees. Best endings: You just get choked out or one solid hit for not pissing him off too much. Or you successfully get away with the robbery. You get paid by whoever hired you, victory party, etc. Only to later wake up badly beaten in front of GCPD. Quickest ending: Try to fight/shoot Batman when the majority of your people try to stand their ground. Worst ending: Batman breaks nearly every bone in your body when he gets to you (possibly based on choices made thought the game or how much of a nuisance you’ve been up until that point).
Oh, it feels nothing short of satisfying! The high-and-mighty clown that gives everyone a big headache of being a twisted, insane nuisance, reduced to a lowly, pleading, pathetic, cowardly man filled with fear. It's what he's had coming for a long time, and good riddance.
Seeing Alfred, who stays completely collected even under the most tense situations, losing his shit over Bruce killing the city he dedicated his life to protect. Yeah, that would do it
The part where you play as the Joker and you’re in the dark room with the changing walls and Batman statues scared the crap outta me that’s definitely gotta be the creepiest part of the game!
Even in death Joker is trapping Batman, First the Asylum Then into helping him find a cure And now in his own mind, Batman can never escape the Joker, they are destined to fight till they die
I kinda wish that the ending had the joker take over and kill scarecrow snapping batman to his senses and then proceeding with the knight fall protocol before joker takes control again.
Played this last year. But I remember really enjoying playing as Joker. It was cathartic and had a different feel. Especially the rampage portion where you can shoot the bad guys. It was gratifyingly evil. I think I would actually like a game where you play the villain.
25:30 this part scared the shit out of me the first time I played this game. That and the first time we see Man-Bat. I mean I recently replayed Batman: Arkham Knight, I knew what was gonna happen with Man-Bat and he still got me. Scared the hell out of me. And it was worse the first time around, I almost had a heart attack.
to this day, this ending is my favorite out of every ending of the Batman: Arkham series. I loved Arkham City so much but this one is the best one on my opinion.
It’s a fantastic game, but they forced the batmobile too much for me to call it the best. It’s a fun mechanic, but it’s a bit rougher than the parts that they spent two prior games polishing to a mirror finish. And that’s understandable, but since they spend so much time forcing you to use the weakest part of the game, it gets dragged down a little.
@@rock21611 i would understand your point of view. kinda hated that they did pushed it a lot especially with the riddler racing stuff. i believe now that arkham city was the best and really refined the series because arkham asylum was great but city improved upon it a lot.
It's interesting to think of this version of Joker's biggest fear is being forgotten, when (if the Arkhamverse includes some Batman Beyond elements in the future) he probably would never be forgotten among other criminals if the the Jokerz gang comes into existence.
See I ironically see it as the exact opposite. The joker gang is nothing more than punk teens who want to be anti authority and be seen as tough. Just a bunch of thugs seeking validation. They’re so far removed from the Joker and his senseless terrorism that in a way, he absolutely has been.
am i the only one who felt really sorry for Joker at the end? The way he was pleading with Bruce, I mean, I know he's done wrong and he's an insane sociopath, but like... yeah, he's still human...
+TreyDZd he literally crippled a teenage girl, took nude photos or her with her body laying on the floor, kidnapped the girl's dad, made her dad see and experience the nude photos in order to make the dad go insane. Plus he killed hundreds upon hundreds with no regret over anything. Pretty sure he deserved everything he got.
For a second there when I was playing for the first time I actually thought that Batman is not going to win this time. But still, in a little corner in my heart I never lost faith. Batman can't be defeated. He is NIGHT, He is Vengeance. He is BATMAN.

And that's another brilliant choice the devs made, having it be in 1st person changed the feeling completely! Batman wasn't just hunting the Joker, he was hunting US! It's an awesome way to see Batman the way his enemies see him, a terror waiting and watching in the dark and giving a feeling that there is no place to run and no place to hide from him.
Wait so when Joker took over, everything that happened really happened? The burning city, killing the villans, everything was real? Jesus christ, one of the best plottwists.
There are subtle hints that it only appears to be the Joker you’re playing as. Such as when he kills the Riddler. Why would the Riddler think a hostage would stop the Joker?
I mean it's not really a HINT. It's obvious that it's supposed to be Batman. What IS probably a hint tho is the fact that Harvey turns into Gordon. This probably means that you, Batman were actually killing your allies, not the villains.
The Batman jump-scare didn't scare me nearly as much as a Man-Bat like genius that scare so well-placed and so unexpected I'm pretty resilient jump-scares but that one was so well-placed it actually still scared me
I wanna see a different version of when Joker is talking to scarecrow because we see the joker because we know he’s taken control, but scarecrow and everyone else sees Bruce wayne. I wanna see actual waynes body but obviously jokers mind
Playing as the Joker for this part was cool but was creepy at the same time. Playing through the Joke's point of view scared me so much. The statues were what made my heart go to my throat. Seeing them everywhere, I thought I was going to get jump scared for sure.
I remember that symbol from batman arkham asylum when scarecrow sprays his fear toxin and it shows that joker took over the asylum but it was scarecrows toxin its very strong
So I’m guessing the joker blood has this effect because of the chemicals he fell into in his origin story. I mean regular human blood doesn’t turn people into the person who gave the blood.
I love how that secret Harley dialogue is so unnoticeable yet adds so much. It's these little types of touches that make the Arkham games special in my opinion.
Joker: what is this madness batman Batman: It is for your own good Joker: NO NO NO NO Bruce Batman: Goodbye Joker it was nice seeing you Joker: No Bruce I need you
Joker: No Ones FORGETTING ME! Freddy: I Know how you feel being forgotten is a bitch! And you should write your name in people's blood that'll make em remember

There are subtle hints that it only appears to be the Joker you’re playing as. Such as when he kills the Riddler. Why would the Riddler think a hostage would stop the Joker?
“It only appears to be the joker your playing as” wdym? You’re actually playing as the joker or what?
@@For_Fun.537 The player sees it as the joker, but the villain see it as Batman. Remember, this Joker's personality taking over Batman's body.
I mean it's not really a HINT. It's obvious that it's supposed to be Batman.
What IS probably a hint tho is the fact that Harvey turns into Gordon.
This probably means that you, Batman were actually killing your allies, not the villains.
Hearing joker beg saddens me. I know it shouldnt because he is a murderer but jesus christ that was heartbreaking
I beat it this morning and don't worry your not the only one😔
35:14 I found it kind of humorous when he screamed
The Batman jump-scare didn't scare me nearly as much as a Man-Bat like genius that scare so well-placed and so unexpected I'm pretty resilient jump-scares but that one was so well-placed it actually still scared me
I wanna see a different version of when Joker is talking to scarecrow because we see the joker because we know he’s taken control, but scarecrow and everyone else sees Bruce wayne. I wanna see actual waynes body but obviously jokers mind
This is the closest "The Batman Who Laughs" we got
I actually enjoyed playing as the joker... It was fun and crazy.
For picking who you were gonna kill I didn't kill Penguin I killed Riddler didn't kill the hostage and killed two-face.
Pretty ironic that the game ends at where all the madness began(Arkham asylum)
Pretty much the Batman who laughs...
Who would want main character to be joker? Gib like xDDDDDDDD
Richard Ides ME YOU ASS
Who wouldn't?
Who wouldn't?
Who wouldn't?
Playing as the Joker for this part was cool but was creepy at the same time. Playing through the Joke's point of view scared me so much. The statues were what made my heart go to my throat. Seeing them everywhere, I thought I was going to get jump scared for sure.
I remember that symbol from batman arkham asylum when scarecrow sprays his fear toxin and it shows that joker took over the asylum but it was scarecrows toxin its very strong
Batman promised the clown ,that his stories will be wiped out the memory.
I never realized how likable the Joker was in this game.
I love this crazy, green hair, psychopath dude so much!!!! O.o ...kinda wrong decision!...but i can't help it XD
This is one of the best moment in a videogame
Closest we will ever get to seeing the batman who laughs playable on a game
Hey, The Grey Ghost poster! 1:18 :D Nice touch!
This was the most fun I had with the whole game tbh
Joker:[MANIC LAUGHTER]
That was one hell of an ass beating Bruce gave the Joker 😂😂😂
This is by far my fav game.... Game of the year 💯💯💯💯💯
This was about to be batman who laugh if scare crow didn't gave him second dose of fear toxin
So I’m guessing the joker blood has this effect because of the chemicals he fell into in his origin story. I mean regular human blood doesn’t turn people into the person who gave the blood.
i think it would be a good horror game idea where we play as a criminal in gotham and batman terrorized us
I want video game where joker has taken over batman's mind.
I love how that secret Harley dialogue is so unnoticeable yet adds so much. It's these little types of touches that make the Arkham games special in my opinion.
Joker: what is this madness batman
Batman: It is for your own good
Joker: NO NO NO NO Bruce
Batman: Goodbye Joker it was nice seeing you
Joker: No Bruce I need you
Batman: But, I don't need you, Joker.
Joker: No Ones FORGETTING ME!
Freddy: I Know how you feel being forgotten is a bitch! And you should write your name in people's blood that'll make em remember
Here's a question: If Red Hood was there the entire time, then why didn't he just blow Scarecrow's head off before he removed Batman's mask?
Only you in the background gave me chills jokers fear is scary asf
I love batman arkam knight and your videos keep them goin!!! :D
+Bandit Ramirez thanks :)
+MsLaraCroftx np :)
Joker real fear was getting beating down in the corner by batman lmfaooo. All i hear is "fight back, fight back"🤣🤣 32:20
Oh my god, weeping Batmen!
