The reveal of Katherine as Pulitzer's daughter isn't in the movie because Katherine wasn't actually a character in the movie, she was added in the musical as a mix of two characters from the movie, Denton, the reporter, and Sarah, David's sister/Jack's love interest
Great info! I haven't seen the original film, just this version. It is interesting because I felt her character stuck out as more functional than catalytic. Her presence gave the composer some great opportunity for a beautiful duet, however. That is part of the priority of a musical, certainly. What do you think of how they created Katherine?
@@DayleSong I think they did a pretty good job of combining two very different characters, though she does seem like a more updated version of Denton, rather than having equal parts of his and Sarah's personalities and characteristics, it seems more like they changed him to a female character while giving said character both roles, as Sarah doesn't really serve much purpose in the movie other than as Jack's love interest, and the love story between Jack and Katherine is a little more developed than the one between Jack and Sarah
