The sales definitely get me… especially with the Daily Grace Co. I had to unsubscribe from their emails and stuff because I kept saying to myself “This study is ONLY $5” But in reality I have enough studies, devotionals, etc to last me for YEARS… Thank you for sharing these videos and being so raw and honest with us! I’ll be praying for you ❤
@@blessedbookworm you and I both. I literally could go the next 5 - 7 years and have enough studies and devotionals. You are most welcome and thank you for praying for me 💜
Ouch! This definitely spoke to me. I’m convicted to do better with contentment and consumption. I just bought a Bible to match my planner a month ago. 😮😢😕 I want to be a light for others not with confusion, materialism, or seeking things other than God. You’re right about addiction, it is what it is (lack of control). Repent…asking God to remove this thorn that’s plagued me for years. Breathe, slow down, and focus by journaling are my next steps. Thank you Sis for sharing your heart and courage to speak the truth. ❤🙏🏼🥰
i literally go to barnes and noble and do use new resources for the novelty and don’t buy them. i have so much study, devotional, etc. how interesting how the bible can become an addiction so humbling our walk with him is
Sister-friend, this is 🔥I wish that everyone who calls her/himself a follower of Jesus Christ could listen to this. You have made so very many important points and I know the Holy Spirit was guiding you all the way. This resonated so deeply with me because I, too, have had to(& in some cases, still) wrestle with distractions presented by the enemy of our souls, but then nurtured and watered by me. And the rationalizations, oh my! How creative can we get just to be able to hug our playthings? I actually made idols of planners, Bibles, inspirational books, you name it. The only way to put on the brakes is to put up boundaries as you did and to get very, very close to the only One who can show the effect that idols have on all concerned. Our addictions give us the illusion of control when we have none and are poor substitutes for the only Person who can fill the void. Just think of people who can only obtain pieces of Bibles and books, but their faith is rock-solid because they spend time in the Lord's presence. Thank you, thank you for your courage and determination to share this struggle. You are not alone. Blessings & hugs for the rest of the journey!
@@abbaschild2499 god bless you! This comment was so encouraging 💜 I pray with everything in me that this messages reach the right people. There is absolutely no substitution for Christ and yet we somehow try so hard to do so. As much as I can I’m trying to eliminate all distractions. Thank you for your kind words and your prayers 💜🙏🏾
Thank you for this series, I have this problem with stationary and notebooks and pens, highlighters I have so many and it's a struggle everyday to be content and fight the temptation to keep buying 😢 But knowing that I am not the only one who is fighting these kinds of battles makes it a little better. I pray that The Lord will help us all to overcome our struggles. God bless thank you for these videos.
Amen! I have really enjoyed this series because the message is spot on! The Holy Spirit has been working on my heart about needs versus wants for a few years now. And, yes, it applied to Bible buying, too, mostly in having diffefent translations. If I saw one I wanted at the thrift store, I made that my excuse that I could have it. I don't need it, though. It has only caused confusion and regret. I have donated a lot and have only kept those that were gifts from family.
God is working ! Wow it’s amazing to see that so many of us ladies have had the Holy Spirit talk to us already about this topic. I thank God for your incredible wisdom my sister 🤍
This video is so timely! God has really been speaking to me about over buying. I have so many bibles, so many books, so many journals and notebooks. I’m really trying to use what I actually have instead of buying more and more. And then I get all frustrated that I have so much clutter 😂
Me too! I have some things I want to accomplish in hopes of being better discipline. I want to manage my money and household better. I too get so overwhelmed with all the things that are around me
No fighting you, Sweetheart, it's myself I'm fighting. It's so easy to make excuses for our obsessions. This morning I was studying in 1 John 2:15-17. Lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, the pride of life! "I want that Bible because it's pretty, it's better, everyone will admire it (I'll admire it)...whatever." We should ask ourselves, "Is what I'm desiring just to make ME look and feel good or is it for GOD's glory and for HIS pleasure?" He bought me. I'm His. It's not about me. Lord, continue to purify me!

This is such a great series.🎉 Self-control and telling yourself you have enough. A need and not want. No blame game. No more damage to others by giving your extra stuff to them to deal with. God is all we need. This is so helpful ❤ Thank you.
I have two bibles that are so pretty, but I haven’t read them. Im having a hard Time with one of them, so I know it needs to go. This spoke to me. I’m taking them to the Goodwill today.
You are such a blessing, i can afford as many bibles as i want but i dont need them, they just collecting dust 😔, you inspire me to do better and not to press that buy button. Thank you ❤
