I Love yoga tablets so much, i owned one for years until it broke on me (the charging port broke) and so i went and bought the newer version and im still using it since two years or more, I'll definitely buy this new version if my current yoga tablet go bad, i mostly love the kick stand on those tablets it makes it very easy to use, also the batteries are always huge they last for long, and sound and screen are great, thanks for making this video i thought that they stopped making yoga tablets and i was worried what to buy next if my tablet stopped working, now im glad i still have the option

I've been asking for HDMI in on tablets for a long time. Glad this is happening.
Given that most portable monitors don't include batteries, offer horrible panels, have really bad build quality and can't cover any other functions, this is the most sensible place to go. Also, makes big tablets way more viable just by covering a ton of use cases other than just being a tablet. This should be standard in most high end tablets, since it would effectively make the tablet part of the device feel more affordable, considering you get other uses out of it.

    • @shun2112
      @shun2112 2 года назад +2

Totally agree. I have been using capture card to use tablet as monitor for testing pi. This makes perfect sense. It also reduce e-waste. I still have a old HP slate 24" inch android AIO that is also monitor. Android was too old but screen still looks good. I just plug a tv stick in and use it as small bedroom TV and digital photo frame.

Some low-budget portable "DVD" players have a "Android" running aka "Tablet/DVD" player but they have low spec & clunky interface...but who's plays "DVD" nowadays, "Lenovo" "Yoga Tab 13" (HDMI Monitor, a kick stand, good speakers runs "Android" apps like "Netflix" you got me sold) seems like the Best Entertainment Tablet right over an "iPad" to kids busy.

They're everything ranging from Fire tablets, to a super old ipad 2 (9.something) to a possibly even older Nook HD+ (May have been Android 4, don't recall). Don't think I'd use any for Windows monitors but they could make decent countertop arcades or Pi screens or similar. Something like this that's better than an app running on a crappy old device but easier than having to tear it apart to hopefully be able to re-use it is a nice compromise.

Really reckon some tough, high bitrate, media playback benchmarks would be good for this. (both natively, and, say, from an external device, but I think the HDMI input is only 1.4)
If there's a way of outputting that Dolby Vision licence to a DV OLED, this could genuinely be the world's best UHD 4K DV playback device given the Android OS.
Things like some full DV UHD BR rips (FEL & MEL), high bitrate audio AND video samples from online, etc.

Is this the only tablet with HDMI input?
This feature should be standard on large tablets.
I want to use it with a very small tiny PC. So I could have both worlds.

this is really nice, part of me still wants to wait it out for a 1-200$ dip in the s8 ultra for the 15 inch screen and pen. I do like the HDMI input and probably would use it for my switch or steam deck but mainly would be a standalone device or a wireless monitor for the laptop

loving this tablet, bought because of your post. one problem was introduced in the newest update though. the sound now fluctuates constantly and dolby atmos cannot be turned off without headphones connected. hopefully there is a fix soon

also, I wish I could set the screen to a 1:1 pixel when connected through HDMI. if I want to do 1080p, it stretches it out instead of giving me black bars all around like I would prefer. at least give people the choice 😭

Did you detect any sort of input lag or response time issues when using this as a portable monitor? Curious how it fares compared to portable screens that talk about 3ms or 4ms response times, and if the fact it's doing this with Android under the hood adds any lag to the experience.

What live wallpaper was the first one? I really want it! The second one was nice too.
I had the Lneovo Yoga 3 Plus from a few years ago. Before I finally settled on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ I was considering this. But my previous Yoga really became sluggish after about a years use, but that only had 3GB of memory. I'd hope this wouldn't have the same experience. I loved the screen and stand on it. I would have considered this one if Lenovo had better Android update support. Great review as always! Now someone please get me those live wallpapers haha.

Still waiting for global release....but I wish it was at the price you got. It's a steal as to compare with portable monitor
Buying mainly cause it works as a 2nd monitor.

nice review, does the yoga have some kind of desktop mode?

  • @TheT3rr0rMask

The only problem is no SD slot. Kinda defeats the purpose of emulating GC, DC and PS2 when you're stuck w/128gb. Even local media like video and music you'll struggle with data management. Otherwise it's amazing fir the price. Along with the HDMI In it has active stylus support so great for plugging into the PC as a drawing or editing tab.

Lenovo told me right, in that there's no video OUT right?
There's a RUclipsr trying to say it does because it's USB 3.1. But never showed any evidence
Even though they screwed some of their sales with no headphone jack, I'd almost consider it with native video out.

    • @chrisdpratt

It supports video out via the USB-C port. The micro HDMI is only for video in.
