Gotta say, the rise of portable monitors has been great for mobile tech. I have one from Cocopar, but it doesn't have a touchscreen! This is pretty incredible.
I purchased a 15.6 portable monitor when the M1 Mac Minis first came out. I didn't want to carry my gigantic monitor to Mexico where I'd be for 6 months. Worked perfect!! I wish I would have thought about a touch screen at the time. Great review once again.
I got my two Inoo 15.8 portable monitors for $42.59 each due to a coupon that doubled. They work great! So I paid $85 for both and I paired one with the iClever portable foldable keyboard with a touchpad. Works great especially with DEX. Obviously this was a fantastic deal. But if I had to do it today, I'd rather pay $170 for the touchscreen than $100 for a non touchscreen.
Thanks for the review! The bottom bezel is pretty big. If it were housing a superior sound system with good bass, they'd get my money. I travel with the mightily portable 17-inch Asus ROG STRIX, 240Hz refresh; slips into a carry-on suitcase. But no touchscreen, and the speakers lack bass. And yes, I need a touchscreen. Cruel world.
Nice my decision has been made Ima buy a 15" touch monitor instead of buying a replacement screen for my z fold 3 since there practically the same price
I've purchased 2 of these similarly lesser-known-brand portable displays, and both became faulty just over a year, leaving me to avoid purchasing another unless it's ViewSonic or Asus. Yes they are more expensive, but quality control is important, otherwise you pay-less for something that eventually becomes use-less, in my experience.
RUclips knows how to make me suffer, ugh! I am planning to get a Portable Monitor when Xiaomi 15 releases.. but then i am always reminded of Samsung's Dex how superior it is over what Xiaomi has.. basic default dev desktop mode.
i got a kenowa 15.6 touchscreen portable monitor, it has pretty much the same features and all the same connections and is about £130. It also works seamlessly with Samsung Dex. it did come with a usb to usb c and a usb c to usb c. both cables work for power and touchscreen functionality on my pc. However when i used my own usb to usb c (which is longer than the one it came with) the touch functions did not work. so i suspect it does work with usb to usb c but only certain versions. so im going to try it again but with usb a, b, 2.0, 3.0, 3.1 etc and see what happens. Anyway great review i got mine after checking out your video, thanks!
Update, the ps5 3metre usb to usb c cable works on my pc giving power and touchscreen functions perfectly. i paired it with a 3m hdmi which gives much more room to manuver and position the screen away from my pc!
@@DarkstylesInc it works fine, it is pretty much matches this review. Works with Dex out the box and comes with all wires needed. i did replace the wires as i wanted longer ones but thats not an issue. i would say my only issue is if you move it around too much the hdmi becomes loose and sometimes you lose the picture but when it is on a table or in a stable position it is fine.
OTG is a protocol that stands for OnTheGo, it was meant as a way for the first smart phones to use a micro usb to usb a adapter for the phone to act as host and support connected devices (ie. keyboard/mouse/GPS receivers/etc). There are OTG adapters that go from micro USB to USB A, although some of the better chinese screen makers just put an actual USB A port instead of a useless micro usb OTG port that requires an adapter.
Thanks a lot for the review, I'm searching a monitor with touchscreen to use Staffpad on my pc, that will be way cheaper than buying a 2000€ surface pro ^^
My super cheap Chinese usb-c dongle has a usb-c port with full functionality. It has a permanently attached small usb-c cable that can connect to either phone or monitor and a usb-c cable that I can then connect to phone/monitor/power
I want a portable Smart monitor. Samsung has made amazing smart monitors, so you can stream movies easily. "17" would be a great size for me. I found a 15" snart monitor a few months ago, a no-name, from an unknown seller and website, so I didn't snag it.
That's because you probably didn't try Dex with the NREAL AIR GLASSES, it's a life changer. I can even manage to have 3 big windows open, feels exactly like 3 ruge monitors!
@@scaryifliteral that's Exactly how I use them! When you buy the NREAL AIR glasses they come with a prescription insert with dummy lenses. Then, there are companies online that will make the lenses with your prescription and send you. All you need to do is mount them to the inserts and they work like a charm. I've been using mine like that for about a month now and love it. I can even use the glasses as regular sunglasses due the prescription inserts on them. There are a couple of more famous companies like lensology really well known in the REDDIT nreal community. But I was looking for a more affordable option and was still able to get my prescription lenses for the nreals (high astigmatism) for about $65.
From other reviews I understood that the brightness is not stored in NVRAM somehow. So you need to reset each time after shutoff or poweroff. That looks odd to me. What is your experience with this setting?
hey man i am keen on this with dex powered by phone only? how long do u think it would last if we set it to eco powered by a samsung note 9? i could snag a powerbank later though ^^
Shane I know this is an older video and review. Do you know of a Dex type app that can be added to pixel fold or any of the other Android phones for a touch screen desktop type experience? Thinking about going away from Samsung, but need the Dex and s-pen capabilities to do so.
I am confuse. if my laptop only have HDMI and no USB-C, can I plug the USB-C to adaptor(to power the device) hooked the HDMI to my laptop, would it work for touchscreen?
Wait so does this tablet have to be plugged into the wall for me to play the steam deck on it? Or can I take it on a camping trip and play my steam deck on it without my tablet being plugged into anything
@@scaryifliteral thank you very talking the time to test it and letting me know. Have you attempted running Linux or Ubuntu on your Duo yet? I can't answer the 2nd question, but to the 1st one, it does drain it pretty quickly. I am using a Fold 4 and I think if I solely used the phone to power it, I could maybe get 2 hours.
Not sure that would work for the touchscreen still. I believe it has to be directly C to C. Even a C Hub I had didn't work because that particular C wasn't fit for display lol.

What about iOS Lightning port to USB-C to use the monitor?
You'd need Lightning to HDMI adapter, then HDMI to Mini HDMI cable. And the touchscreen won't work.
Bro.....Do these companies tell you what PHONES are COMPATIBLE with their monitors BEFORE you buy them and have to send them back ?
You've got it backwards, you should be looking at what phones can display out over USB-C. If they can they're compatible with virtually every monitor.
Please, Please, please.
What are the keyboard and mouse you are using? I would like to get some compatible Bluetooth items for dex.
Wheres the gaming test?
It's a monitor. The gaming performance will be that of whatever device you plug into it.
How long can this portable monitor run continuously? Can it run continuously for 9 to 10 hours a day without breaking down?

Not like a true drawing tablet, no. You'd have to use one of those generic pens that work on any touch screen.

Can you run dex at 1440p @ 120 hz?

How much does this affect the battery of the dex device. I could imagine it lasts not really long xD
