    First time seeing this video. In my younger years we ran single engine pans with 637 and 657's, we would have never worked a berm or cut like this. Work smarter not harder. And the blade operator needs to learn how to mage the fill. Hopefully this was the first day on a pan or even seeing one for these guys...

    Some seem to not understand the place held by the dollar factor. If you know your machines and operators, that is a key ingredient is figuring your rental value, or total bid. If you have a dozer to put on the fill, you could not match that price by buying twin engine scrapers! You plan the work with what you have. And if you have twin engine scrapers, and happen to bid a job with little elevation differences, you pay more for fuel and maintenance 🤷‍♂️ all in the game!

    First time I've seen pan scrapers so helpless they needed a dozer assistance just to unload, but I presume it is because they were trying to climb around on loose unpacked dirt.

    Love watching those old girls haul the mail. Not being managed properly but probably underlying circumstances that we don't know about as to why they are turning around loaded. And if while turning around loaded let it downshift to 2nd gear and leave it there and then they could at least get to where they are dumping. 31's lose all momentum in sand once they start downshifting. And if the guy on the 8 would carry his blade higher and catch the stinger in the curve of his blade he could run up on em in 3rd gear and be smooth as glass on the connection... Love this stuff

    When I worked for Sterling Garrett in Michigan in the 60s, scraper hands were standing in line for work. Someone else would have been in the saddle after the second round. Dozer hands would have whacked the scraper stinger a few times to wake that operator up. Maybe a class would have helped...

    referring more specifically to the fact that they can neither get on or off of the pile without a cat pushing on them, whereas dual engine scrapers would easily be able to do that. Just a lot of wear on the cat doing on that running around pushing them and taking a lot longer is all I'm saying.

  • @Hercolubus33

    Definitely not a union job. The stock pile is two narrow and the lifts are two fat, that is why the scrapers are not able to get good traction. The scrapers are not getting a good enough run at the stock pile, either. They turn to soon into it.

  • @brianmakoviney4521
    @brianmakoviney4521 Год назад

    I can not figure out why the scrappers need a dozer to help them unload. It's not like there in axle deep mud. All they are doing is stock piling.

  • @cooperrhd8104
    @cooperrhd8104 8 лет назад

    hey easy jet too How can a 627 put the catskinner out of work? Sure he would'nt have to push them, but you always need a utility cat on the job! He could doze, rip, key in, maintain stockpile,push scrapers if push cat goes down, pioneer work, brush as well as numerous other tasks that come up!

  • @badlandskid
    @badlandskid 11 лет назад +2

    Doesn't it seem like the pile is a mess? Maybe the skinner should dress up the pile so those big dogs would be able to keep rolling. Seems like such a waste to need a push loading and unloading. Also they have no momentum to help carry them up on top. It looks like they should have arranged it so they entered the dump from the left not the right. I agree that a 7 would do better with the twin engines but I guess they have to use what they brought. Just my 2 cents. :-)

    Very cool vid. Soil looks sandy - I'm thinking maybe they should've had one of those big compacters with the dozer blade to compact that dump mound??? that one guy kept getting bogged down at the end. Or was he just not that good at unloading dirt? The scenery was nice too. looks kinda peaceful there.

    100% correct jpaydirt, how can the dirt be cheaper when it stops and starts so many times to get to the fill where as with a scraper as soon as the stinger enters the material the dirt is headed to and moving to the fill, i get the feeling contractors are now realising this and scrapers (at least Cat0 have been selling well for a couple years now.

    Must be a pain to need a pushcat even to fill

    • @brianmakoviney4521
      @brianmakoviney4521 Год назад

      Well usually you need a push cat to help load scrapers unless they are of the push pull type. As a single engine scrapper lacks the power to load them selves. So that's where a push cat comes in. Comes in behind smoothly while the scrapper is just starting to load, and eases into the push block, and if done right, the scrapper operator will not even feel it. Thus with the cat pushing, the scrapper can fill the pan fast.

      @@michaelboyd959 As busy as I am Michael (I work as an engineer in the printing industry now) television and movies are almost impossible to keep my attention. Anything educational will do.... but something as simple as watching such machines as these is both entertaining, and amazing at the technology, etc. As an engineer, I do have another question for you, because you know every moment of my life is "I want to know" about everything. So back to the TARP. What you said, makes perfect sense. But my question, why does it seem like I have never, or never, see tarps in real life, and/or in other RUclips videos? Is it more important in certain soils? Or simply, it is used by people who want to take "ultra care" of their machines and go the extra mile from the parts wearing? (I represent only 1 company besides my own, and its an English company Col-Tec out of Hampshire.... not far from StoneHenge.) We have a lot of fun with all of the different words and pronunciations when I am there. And I ALWAYS apologize to my new Brittish friends for the "Tea Incident" there in the Boston Harbor. So there ya go, "sorry bout that....." Then I started smiling, and she realized I was teasing her..... but BOY, was she a bit incessed there for a few moments. Last but not least... WHY, WHY did you send us Harry! Good morning Brent, thank you for the interesting message you have sent ! Hahaha! First of all Harry is under the spell of his Mrs! There maybe no hope for him! & as for taking him back, well I’m not to sure about that🤣!!! Ok about the serious stuff! “The Tarp” if you look closely at some of the new Cat Scrapers you will see that they have a deflection plate fitted where the “Tarp” is, but not on all Machines, I think the Tarp is more flexible, it moves with the up & down freely with the Box!(Pan)or (Bowl) if you are digging deep the metal deflector if it protrudes to far out from the box it could catch on the draft arm, I will have to have a closer look, I fact I feel the need to get back on the Scraper again!!!!! I see everything is controlled by one lever & buttons! You can even program the loading & tipping program into the computer, & the machine takes care or computer takes care of it! You just steer the thing!!!!🤣like everything it will be Automated eventually!😢, did you use “Cushion Hitch”? how about pushing the Scrapers with a Cat D9G? I have most of the operator’s hand book’s for these machines, but not with me, they are in a garage in Serbia!!!🤣
