You can just look at Mr. Nizam’s eyes and tell he is a very very beautiful kind soul! Even though i didn’t get to know him personally but through this (first time video on this channel ) watcher, the goodness of earth misses him!
Rest In Peace Mr Nizam , he showed us what humanity is all about, hospitality to others with a generous heart. An epic video the fact that the monastery was built in that location is a miracle in itself an achievement of building on a grand scale. The Byzantine Church lasted almost 1000 years after the fall of the Roman Empire in Constantinople before that too collapsed under the Arab conquests. The church walls which you see the remains of plaster would’ve had a number of frescos on the walls of what is known as the Byzantine art, the monks would’ve carried out there daily lives of rituals in isolation but as time went on the monks would’ve died and most likely there were no new novice monks to replace them and carry on the tradition and the life of the monastery. The increasing influence of the Islamic faith in the region would’ve also hastened its decline, but the legacy of the Byzantine Church founded by Emperor Constantine still influences the culture of Turkey today. The skulls and human bones are likely the bones of those who had lived and died in the area, the bodies would have been placed in the crypt and left to decay, once the flesh has gone the bones are then gathered up and placed into another part of the crypt where the bones of their ancestors are gathered. Over time they have been disturbed by grave robbers looking for treasure and thus they are as you have found them. I loved the ghost in the doorway 👍
Dear Mick, the Monastry and the Church was built By GEORGIANS… and are not Byzantine…Same of 12 similarly significant Monasteries that were built upon nearby mountains and valleys… where not only religious studies, those institutions have undertaken studies such in literature, philosophy, medicine, engineering, astronomy, mats… Those centers translated writings of Latin, Hebrew, Armanec into Far Eastern languages and vise verse… European ronesans only replicated such achievements 7-800 years later… Developed leadership cadre that not only successfully deposed Arab invaders but many more. Consequently, Georgia had achieved the status of an Empire State, around XI-XII centuries…

Some recent historical and archeological findings show that Southern Caucasian region was one of the most sophisticated contributors to human civilisation. I have recently being studying the history of religion and it is interesting of how similar the they were to the Eastern part of the church, when they were actually the Western part of the church, thank you for pointing that out to me .
Even the stone cries out to tell its story. There is a story indeed. How much effort the Monks put into making their home invisible and inaccessible. It must have been a terrifying time and, as we can see, they and their way of life was obliterated and forgotten.
This was a wonderful video. I’ve been in entertainment most of my life, and I’ve seen the worst of people. It’s very rare anymore to see this kind of generosity. Mr. Nizam was everything that everybody should ever strive to be. RIP.
I went to Georgia by accident on my way Turkey. It was during Corona when I had to stay there for a month to avoid quarantine. I went back for another month later. I really love it there and even though I've only been there twice it feels like a second home to me. I've already planned my third trip and will be bringing my Turkish wife with me this time :) Kazbegi is Heaven.
That mountain side monastery is a beautiful place. The architecture and materials have stood the test of time and it's so well camouflaged . I hope is served them well and protected it's inhabitants for many generations.

I've been following you right from your first video, all the way to the forests of Congo , through Ethiopia and all the places that you have been filming. Today i want to admit that your videos are one of the best travel films I've ever watched. It's just like I've been traveling all over the world with you. I've only traveled across my country Uganda, never been on plain before but now I feel like I've gone to the whole world through your videos. Thank you man, keep taking us through the world.
I’m so glad I found your channel. You have inspired me to do more, I’m scared to do the things I want to do but if I want to live a fun and full life I have to get over those fears. It’s people like you who show people that obstacles aren’t stopping points, they’re learning points. And if I gave up at every obstacle my life would be nothing but misery just because I wanted to avoid a few days or weeks of misery. Thank you for pushing forward and setting an example for humanity.

This older gentleman I've been blessed to have a conversation with is Turkish. I asked him about these monasteries and he said 12 of them are in the path of the sun with number 13 inside the mountains that they all lead to. Pretty interesting thing to hear when you're interested in things like this. Safe travels brother
Congratulations. What you found is typically called a "kokkalaria" in Orthodox Greece. In Greece, Georgia and many other places where land is expensive, people are typically buried in the cemeteries temporarily. After some years their bones are removed to free up the grave for another corpse, and are deposited in a large room or crypt on Church's Hallowed Ground where they are mixed together. There's nothing sinister or dark about it, not necessarily I mean. Now if you found skulls with bullet holes in them, - that would be a very different story.

I lived in four corners area for many years and this trip you took reminds me so much of the ruins and kivas we found hiking in places where noone has been for 600 years. I remember one time being by myself and sleeping in a Kiva at Lowry ruins in Colorado. Waking up seeing the sun rise like a golden orb above the ruins of the Kiva. I wish I were younger now. This is the first video of yours I've seen, and as soon as it was over I immediately subscribed. Loved it! And my condolences to Mr. Nizam's family. That was heartbreaking to hear :( Especially to someone who was so selfless and kind.
This is awesome. I visited Turkey in 2010 for 6 weeks. It was a study abroad trip through the university I was attending. Still to this day it is one of my fondest memories. Turkey is beautiful. During those 6 weeks, we travelled all along the western border/coast of Turkey. We started south in Antalya and worked our way up north to Istanbul. I wanted to see the mountains in the east but was overjoyed to see what I did. Ephesus was probably my favorite location to visit, along with Termessos, Troy/Troad and many many other places. The ruins are incredible and Turkey’s history is amazing. Ephesus was known for its magnificent library and it was definitely a sight to see in person. This video brought back great memories! Edit: I wanted to add, the people of Turkey were all incredibly kind to us while we were there. I went into countless shops and each one of them offered warm chai and great conversation, though many times it was through broken English and the minuscule amount of Turkish I had learned. Smiles, handshakes and tea can sometimes be all the words we need. They gave gifts, they told stories, they were proud of their country and were happy to have visitors. They asked questions and were curious of my background and that feeling was mutual. I had many questions for them as well. I met a local artist who gave me two paintings and welcomed me into his shop that he was currently renovating to turn into an art exhibit of sorts. He went by Eyup. I’m having so many memories flood through after watching this video. Really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work. I’m jealous of your travels!

The fruit is called a Persimmon, Cachi or Kaki depends were you live in the Mediterranean. Some years depends on the weather it is soft jelly and very sweet, less rain or none at all crispy like an apple. In my garden there is a ton growing this year due to lots of rain tornado hurrican maltempo end of August and September. A Vancouverite? I've been following you right from your first video, all the way to the forests of Congo , through Ethiopia and all the places that you have been filming.
Today i want to admit that your videos are one of the best travel films I've ever watched.
It's just like I've been traveling all over the world with you.
I've only traveled across my country Uganda, never been on plain before but now I feel like I've gone to the whole world through your videos.

I’m so glad I found your channel. You have inspired me to do more, I’m scared to do the things I want to do but if I want to live a fun and full life I have to get over those fears. It’s people like you who show people that obstacles aren’t stopping points, they’re learning points. And if I gave up at every obstacle my life would be nothing but misery just because I wanted to avoid a few days or weeks of misery. Thank you for pushing forward and setting an example for humanity.

This older gentleman I've been blessed to have a conversation with is Turkish. I asked him about these monasteries and he said 12 of them are in the path of the sun with number 13 inside the mountains that they all lead to. Pretty interesting thing to hear when you're interested in things like this. Safe travels brother

Congratulations. What you found is typically called a "kokkalaria" in Orthodox Greece. In Greece, Georgia and many other places where land is expensive, people are typically buried in the cemeteries temporarily. After some years their bones are removed to free up the grave for another corpse, and are deposited in a large room or crypt on Church's Hallowed Ground where they are mixed together. There's nothing sinister or dark about it, not necessarily I mean. Now if you found skulls with bullet holes in them, - that would be a very different story.

May he forever rest in the comforting arms of his Lord and may his family have peace from losing such a sweet precious treasure of a man. I lived in four corners area for many years and this trip you took reminds me so much of the ruins and kivas we found hiking in places where noone has been for 600 years. I remember one time being by myself and sleeping in a Kiva at Lowry ruins in Colorado. Waking up seeing the sun rise like a golden orb above the ruins of the Kiva. I wish I were younger now. This was such an Awesome exploration!! I am happy to see you working with the locals in the area. They seem like really great people ❤ and they definitely seem to like you too. What a beautiful country with so much history. It makes me sad we don’t have ancient history in Canada. Everything we are told only start appx 500 years ago. So cool to see a Canadian getting to explore historic sites across the globe. We don’t get to do that at home. It’s almost like there is no exploring allowed here. Definitely not in regards to the history of the indigenous people anyways.

Turkey is one of my favourite places. Such a variety of landscapes. Really interesting history. Yes the Turkish people are very friendly.

This is awesome. I visited Turkey in 2010 for 6 weeks. It was a study abroad trip through the university I was attending. Still to this day it is one of my fondest memories. Turkey is beautiful. During those 6 weeks, we travelled all along the western border/coast of Turkey. We started south in Antalya and worked our way up north to Istanbul. I wanted to see the mountains in the east but was overjoyed to see what I did. Ephesus was probably my favorite location to visit, along with Termessos, Troy/Troad and many many other places. The ruins are incredible and Turkey’s history is amazing. Ephesus was known for its magnificent library and it was definitely a sight to see in person. This video brought back great memories!
Edit: I wanted to add, the people of Turkey were all incredibly kind to us while we were there. I went into countless shops and each one of them offered warm chai and great conversation, though many times it was through broken English and the minuscule amount of Turkish I had learned. Smiles, handshakes and tea can sometimes be all the words we need. They gave gifts, they told stories, they were proud of their country and were happy to have visitors. They asked questions and were curious of my background and that feeling was mutual. I had many questions for them as well. I met a local artist who gave me two paintings and welcomed me into his shop that he was currently renovating to turn into an art exhibit of sorts. He went by Eyup. I’m having so many memories flood through after watching this video. Really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work. I’m jealous of your travels!

The fruit is called a Persimmon, Cachi or Kaki depends were you live in the Mediterranean. Some years depends on the weather it is soft jelly and very sweet, less rain or none at all crispy like an apple. In my garden there is a ton growing this year due to lots of rain tornado hurrican maltempo end of August and September. A Vancouverite? He doesn't know how many people he touched and sadden by his loss. Thank you for sharing and I am now going to watch all your videos. I am to out of shape, have health conditions and older to travel anymore so I will live vicariously through your videos.
