MAN, you all need some QuickJack's for that show! I've got the BL-5000SLX which is overkill, but by SO much easier and better to work with and film and it runs on 110V
This makes mcm look like they took years to turbo their miata.
+unityelt Because the engines they work on wasn't made to be turbo. Mazda had designed this engine in mind. Everything that mcm have done to do with turboing they had to get fabricated like phil(manifold) but obviously they didn't show the process.

Surprised that I found half an hour of installing a turbo enjoyable
haha ethan is like "i did a thing!" fun to see how hes progressed in the channel into a presenter with the main team. hes a fun and silly guy, a very nice addition overall.
With all the talk of Car Throttle vs Mighty Car Mods, what if they just got together and partied. Talk some car stuff, bring Engineering Explained along, have some mad fun.

Time Attack Battle at the Sprint Course (the one from The Ultimate IS200 Track Build, Project 330d, etc.): Marty's Super Gramps vs Project 330d (if Alex didn't sell it).

Track Battle: Phil vs Moog's Mini.
Finally, Project IS200 vs 2SEXY.
Those are some battles that I would like to see, if the cars and people could be at the same place at the same time.
You seriously need to remove the oil pan and remove the metal shavings from the drilling and tapping.
No they don't. The oil will capture the metal shavings and they'll get cycled out in the next oil change along with the oil filter.

The chance that all metal is going to the oil filter is none existing.
They should have just remove the oil pan. That is how its done properly. This way is just lazy.
Patrick Carta I don't think you've ever done a turbo install on an mx5. I also don't think you have any idea what you're talking about. But that's just me, so let's just leave it at that.
+Christian Augustin Drilling and tapping an oil pan has nothing to do with any make or model. Patrick is saying metal shavings + oil = bad. I am sure the oil filter will pick up most, maybe all of it. Still not worth risking, would suck to do a turbo install then pull the engine.

+Curtis Walker think about this though, Phil weighs about 2 times less than David's 240, but it will have about 100 less hp. However since the 240 is using a 2jz it is going to have more power (I believe David said its going to be around 350?) and since the 2j is almost twice as big as the engine in the miata, it will have more torque, but I still think the miata has a chance just because of the power to weight ratio.

Never seen the process of fitting a turbo on to an engine before... I'm absolutely impressed with the hard labour you guys had to put in 💪 good work!

They are not trained mechanics, that's true, and yes, a lot of stuff lately was done by other people -- but that's mostly because Miles and Alan can do it faster. After all, isn't that's what subscribers want, for episodes to come out more frequently?
Remember the earlier episode, when Marty drove old white Legacy with leaky windshield. When he gutted the shit out of it to switch shells, most of the work was done by him.

but its turbo now. so it doesnt matter really as the turbo is going to compress air into the engine instead of NA. 421 headers were only made for N/A for better natural air to travel

Dear miata owners, supercharged miata or turbo?
its prefrance realy superchargers are easy to install and have no lag but dont make a huge amount of power where as turbos are the oposite :)

Superchargers can have HUGE amounts of boost, it depends on the pulley you put on the car. Also porting them is good for HP as well.
If you are going in a straight line... Meh, turbo I guess.
If you are on a track, go SC. The turbo boost takes what seems like forever, and then all the sudden you have sooooo much boost, your rear end wants to be in front.
Yeah its all dependant on what you're doing that why I said prefrance but I would personally avoid charging you're car and just go for naturaly aspirated then there is not lag and less parts to worry about going boom :)
