3:22 That black supra ^^
scrolled down for this comment haha
Lewis Yes, I think its the same Supra. But who´s Supra? Alex doesn´t own a Supra I think ...
Redfox [赤い きつね] Alex explained it on his Instagram saying the it’s owned by someone who works at carthrottle or something like that
Eagle eyes
Lewis found him on instagram it’s @manoskountouris
HELLLLLL YESSSSSS
Tavarish i love your videos
Aawww you could have helped them, being in the UK!!
Tavarish thank you for being here
The car community on youtube is surprisingly nice :D
Tavarish ur everywhere man 😃
As much as I like the top gear style challenges these guys do now, I think this kind of car modding, the one-day car buying/selling, and the Miles restoration was peak Car Throttle.
Sorry, old comment, but I completely agree. Living with a Rotary is my favourite series they've ever done and it's all gone a little downhill since then, they just flick through facebook marketplace shitboxes now and do nothing with them
@@KartsAgainstHumanity Thank you! This drives me absolutely nuts. Every episode is buy this rotted out E46 compact, poke it around and then do nothing with it. At least the Porsche got some actual work done.
@@HolyGoatsOfSteel they floundered for a while but I actually really enjoy the videos now to be honest! The Porsche and golf series are great, E36 is interesting, and at least the Audi got 2 videos. Would've liked to see more on the xedos.
"I dont need power steering" True car guy :D
Yeah
Rolandas Jarosevicius driving a small car without power steering is so damn satisfying.
power steering is a luxury item
rez?
@@ourodyssey374 he doesn’t need it on a mx5 they are not heavy at all
3:02 A wild Supra has appeared..!
I spotted you driving Miles!😍
Amazing that you kept him!
At 3:10 that SUPRAAA was nice😍😍
Hi Alex! I ended up removing the power steering and I used my old alternator 😂 sorry! I can report phil's heart is still going strong!!
You still got the alternator, my one has gone
@@DerKaktusAvant u buy one
@@windowstips1430 I decided to fix it, stripped it apart and found the wires fucked. Re wired it and now it's all good.
@@DerKaktusAvant i never seen anyone fix an alternator gg
@@windowstips1430 yeah theu are not to hard, most of the alternators you find online are just reconditioned ones
Meanwhile Gareth's E92 is sitting pretty in the background
Ismail Emre Akcan Very pretty
so you didn't seen the black supra on the background ? ah ha
not as pretty as that mk4 supra in top right at 3:22
Ismail Emre Akcan don't you mean project miata?
AS BAYRAKLARI
So Gareth is the mechanical stig of the car throttle channel but talks more
Car Throttle's version of Edd China.
We should call him "V6 Yoda".
Syafeeq Said some say; he wears sandals as safety shoes
I Am Sekou yes
The drive way car video is very old school MCM, so yea I guess he is the mechanical stig in a way. But Benny's has a much nicer pair of cars
3:20 IS THAT A SUPRA?!
JustAleksiThings It’s a meme dumbass
JustAleksiThings it is in England
Good catch
BMW
@@EAautos it's a Supra..

You put a nice new shiny engine in an engine bay you couldn't even be bothered to degrease and jetwash. A clean engine bay won't make it faster but it's sure nicer to work in.
it will run slightly cooler as well.
David Appleton agree!!!!
But they removed the old subframe anyway. Why clean it if it's not going back in?
Basicly a brand new engine in a rustbucket ^^
Reason I can't sleep at night now.
10:10 Nice steering wheel alignment you got there on your Skoda
Huge props for doing this in your driveway without a lift.
It really shows, that everyone can work on their car, if you have the determination and the patience
i wish i had the room to work on my car, im lucky to park outside my house lol
KFC Gravy I wish I had the money. I have the space
I can relate haha
I have the space, time and knowledge, but i don't have the money
I have the space, time, knowledge, and money, but I'm 16 and my parents won't let me buy a car.
time to move out
Wow that driveway will be the fastest ever
Knob Bonk crying in bed
this is the best comment! Made me laugh so loud 😂😂😂😂
I think i peed myself
Knob Bonk Exactly what I was thinking! Just as I was going to the comments to write that I saw your comment!
I am not proud at how much I laughed😂 my girlfriend thinks I have problems now😂😂
Miles needs an alignment. The steering wheel is a BIT off...
RestoredSparda a BIT??
A lot actually.. Haha!
I thought I'm the person who noticed
On the plus side, it looks like Miles is a long term project, so that will probably happen.
RestoredSparda Alex would say he doesn’t need his steering wheel aligned in it. Just like he doesn’t need power steering! 😂
This video shows how great the mx-5 is as a project car for track or drifting. A icon of a sports car that most people underrate. Great video. 👍
These videos are the reason why i'm looking forward to the Friday evening
This inspired me to buy an MX5 and V6 swap iiiiitttt
Nice
16:51 Successful Bro Hug! Once Phil is up and running I hope you and Gareth do a epic Predator style handshake to show off the guns you got from all the hard work.
Thanks for great stuff you guys!
This is awesome. That engine package looks glorious boys and that subframe is 👌. This is how I'm doing my v8 swap on the e30. Out the back with axle stands and jacks ECT. Old skool 👌😎
I really don't understand why you don't take the opportunitie to clean everything ...
Clément / ClemZouill thats the most cringy part...
Look up what "cringe" means, please and thank you.
Because they are a couple of guys working on a car in the middle of their driveway... NOT some million dollar production crew installing an engine in million dollar race car...
MasterMech77 you do understand that taking the opportunity to clean it is not "a million dollar project" and that it is just something normal to do if everything is apart, even I did that with my vespa...
You're confusing Car Throttle with ChrisFix
The Mx-5 is so underrated, I used to own one and it was the best two years of my life
Faizaan Ahmed sold it or wrote it off?
can't be that good if he's changing the engine lol
Puhleeaassseeee. The MX5/Miata is one of the most loved and hyped cars on the planet. I hear nothing but praises from their owners. Damn near everyone loves them to bits and those that don't are usually those that have never driven one. You see them everywhere and most of the ones you see are still in decent condition.
If you want an underrated car, look at the first generation RX-7. The precursor to the Miata. Everyone gives accolades to the FC and FD, but the SA22C/FB33 are almost impossible to find nowadays despite nearly half a million being built.
its overrated
Faizaan Ahmed Now THATS what i call a roast 😂😂
I like it when new engines are available and go into old cars. These cars are labour of love..nothing more and nothing less.
HOLY MOLY A SUPRA CAME OUT OF NOWHERE!!! 3.24
That subframe is a work of art compared to the stock unit.
3:21 supra in the back?
Good spot
It's been in other videos as well, they said on insta that the owner i s someone in the car throttle crew. So you'll see it often.
Good eye mate
DOOD, IS THIS A FREAKIN SOOPRA ?
DA SOUPBRA!!!
That black supra keeps following you around
fantastic video quality, there is jst the right amount of detail without being too boring.
fitting an engine with flipflops, nice
VESTIGIOS the most South African thing to do
Awesome! That swear session reminded me of a recent tirade my wife had while we installed an exhaust - so very real in projects like this! Juice > squeeze.
Excellent work lads!! Looking forward to the next one!
sitting here viewing all the various parts being pulled out n bolted on n stuff, it a satisfying experience.
The day has arrived. I love this channel 👍
Good to see phil's back😎
I saw that miles record skoda !!
we need more videos and mods about this little beast !!
only recently got in to your channel , what a epic channel. and this v6 mx5 is amazing!! you have a new subscription and a big fan
You should have bare metal restored and painted it while the engine was out and it was off the road. I really hope you make it look good once the engines in.
To all of you who DONT reassemble using antiseize compound,
May it be YOU who must disassemble it next time.
nah bro you gotta use red loctite so it doesn't come loose bro
trust me bro
The engine came on its subframe. Shocking that they'd intend you to install it as one piece. Props on persevering and getting that beautiful lump in though.
Looking forward to seeing the engine ticking over 🤙🏼
I'm assuming you want bm but a diesel mark, the 5 or 6 pot ones are crazy all you need to do is put on a garret from scania MD bolt on, stock internals do really well I'd love to see a well made series from you guys or McM
Alex, are you saying the next project is going to be a BMW 330 Diesel? Diesels are great. They are capable of producing pretty good power and torque without a lot of money.
BoostAddict oh yeah they are. I'd want to tune a Golf TDI. You can get so much power and great gas mileage. Those diesel pickups can easily make 1000lb ft of torque.
Loved the bleeps! Gareth is human after all.......!!
I'm hooked on this series. Looking forward to firing up this V6.
So everyone noticed the supra but no one mentions the APACHE ATTACK HELICOPTER!!!!1
@Faze Rhys !!123 It was so long ago... where was it i cant remember
When you go for a victory kiss and remember the camera is recording 16:54
cutting a hole in the side of the gearbox... damn you guys are brave. Great series, want to see some more heroic home mechanics in the upcoming episodes!
glad you did this finaly lads, good work. would love one myself

Sean Russell Cheers Geoff.
Yeah there is some mx5 in the background and there is Miles. :D
And the tracking is shocking!!! 😂😂😂
Ben Vernon yes the steering wheel is certainly not straight
And theres that scratch on the door still
Nah how's Gareth just wearing sandals whilst putting an engine in a car 😅😅 what a guy
I've been follow this project since day one until phil died.. inspired me a lot, thanks alex😊
The intro already brings back great feelings
lol at the Conquering Northern China theme song at 6:35. What the hell?!
8:14 330d build confirmed???
how did you find that out?
did you just answer yourself?
What he said ^
Maybe engine swap in the diesel skoda lol
haha no, a guy replied that they where gonna put it in an e30 so i said 'how did you find that out' and he replied that he got it wrong lmao
Well done doing it on your drive Alex
14:34 - happens at least twice on every driveway project!
Keep on keeping on.... !
Why didn’t y’all clean the old parts before putting them back in ?
haha that was what i thought.
Putting a V6 in an mx5 in flipflops
Priceless!
There's something satisfying about watching two buff guys work on an mx 5
Nice Job, keep up the awesome work man on Phil. I would love to see a turbo
Engine swap with open shoes, my hero!!!!
Those are safety sandals! He's young and doesn't know pain yet.
Driveway got a V6 faster than Phil
WOW - just letting all those metal shavings fly freely into the trans @12:53 but all hail the Rocketeer !!!
Miata is definitely going to be a future classic. Can’t pick any up for cheap in Ireland for some reason.
Rather than add a supercharger?
Of course the MX3 at the time had the V6 1.85, alluminium engine and the lighest production car with a v6 at the time if I remember. Underrated tool
I had one of those. Sweet motor but didn't feel any quicker than a MX5 vvt
Miles needs an alignment
and interior cleaning (door card).
FUCK. Beat me to it.
That really is the engine the MX-5 should have shipped with. Either the 3.0L or the 2.5L, either are spectacular engines. They sound great, they rev like no tomorrow, and they produce enough power to be thoroughly fun in such a small, lightweight car without making you soil your trousers.
I wish I had a Gareth! I could do so many more DIY projects on my car, I'm good at shopping for parts and making tea.
why didnt you give the engine bay, gearbox a clean up, you had the perfect opportunity to do so ????
Yep, especially with a new plant. Makes spotting leaks/cracks/bends/imperfections easier. They're stupid or lazy with this regard.
I was about to comment the same but looked. I agree you have the best opportunity to even polish it. An oily gearbox on a new engine looks lazy
well we do live in England so you only need to drive around for a bit and all the mud and crap with make the engine bay filthy so i guess they felt it wasn't worth it especially when its far from a show car
@@tomduff89 Fair point
@@tomduff89 Old comment but cleaning that once in 10 years is nice? Right? Unless they rip the engine and tranny of it many times, they should clean it properly and then not worry about it during the next few years.
I looked at the title and thought
“Your driveway has an engine?”
I do admire the safety sandals being worn :)
Everyone needs a friend like Gareth.
Omg look at his sandals😓
George Altezza WHAT ARE THOSSEEEEEE
I d had to throw them away..wife says..
Wtf he rocking the new supreme drop
Saftey shoes
He's South African by the sounds of him, they have no concept of safety 😂
That Rocketeer kit costs more than a Miata
ubercooper wouldn’t be much good if it didn’t.
Tom Bullick yeah a miata only costs 1000£ so thats true,if it did cost less than a miata i still wouldn't buy it
Am I the only person to think Gareth is a New Zealander? Not just the accent, when Alex is being ‘challenging’, he just soaks it up and moves graciously on. That’s pure New Zealander there.
3 years on... Still great watching this series.
I would understand not reading the instructions on a shitty bit of IKEA furniture but when you spent £00000's on a high performance engine not reading the instructions seems very foolish. Might just be me though.
Nah! Men don't need to read instructions! Who do you think we are? I mean, we don't need to read them until we do, which they did after this which was likely followed by a very long sequence of recurring face-palms.
Okay, so Alex cant wink, can he?
I'd love to see more V6 swaps like this one!
Can't wait to hear it.
6:19 - 6:36 yaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy miles is back
I think once Phil is finished, he definitely needs a supercharger!
Love the safety sandals
Been looking forward you getting back to Phill. That Skoda looks like it could use a wheel alignment though ;)
The only time you drop an engine from the top is with a full frame vehicle w/o a removable sub frame, generally RWD. The majority of cars for decades (And ALL FWD cars) have a sub frame that houses the engine, steering, and suspension that all drop out from under the vehicle in one big lump.
John Ulicky I agree, but you don't have much of a choice when you don't have a hoist and in a drive way.
Jacob Stofmeel - One floor jack, and some 4x4 lumber, and you can raise a car plenty high in your driveway or small garage.
Jacob Stofmeel - www.bing.com/videos/search?q=saving+the+m3%27s+hurricane&view=detail&mid=5597BC79E925C079988A5597BC79E925C079988A&FORM=VIRE
