    The metal 'sticks' @5:14 wrapped in vinyl will eventually corrode and give way under all the weather elements. We have similar ones here used for staking.

      Good morning rafiqa11,
      Thank you! I have been planting more passion fruit on my property because they are always green, beautiful flowers and healthy delicious fruits! I also love growing grape vines for both the fruits, but mainly leaves for grape leave rolls; however, the passion fruit vine is WAY less maintenance! You should consider adding one (or more) if you have room on your property! As always, great to hear from you! Charles :-)

      yes i have one. its one year old. i have the flowers, then they closed, and dropped off. no fruit. i,m feeding once a month, watering twice a week. i notice afids/ants growing between the little flower buds. i don,t know if the afides are eatting them before letting them grow or what. i have to buy more neem oil. much love and god,s peace be with you

      Hello rafiqa11,
      The vines will be much stronger next year... most of the flowers from this point will not develop into fruit... being the fall already. If you see that the vine is doing well, pushing new growth, healthy green, and not truly struggling from the ants and aphids visiting-- consider doing nothing. However, if you diagnose that the plant is being stressed by those pests, then consider alternating from the neen treatment with a spinosad product, such as captain jacks. Here is the link:
      www.homedepot.com/p/Bonide-32-oz-Ready-to-Use-Captain-Jacks-Dead-Bug-Brew-2506/203564356 Alternate at least 30 days between an oil product and the spinosad products. Keep me posted!!! Much love and gods peace be with you too! Charles :-)

      Hello The One,
      Aside from the benefits of having more resources going to the fruit on my property-- managing the plant has helped control the number of pests visiting my garden and beating me to the ripe fruit! Thank you for the compliment! Charles :-)

    I can’t eat ‘ripe’ passionfruit. I grew up on a country road that had wild passionfruit and to child me, the purple were rotten. I got them at the very unripe stage where they just developed the seed sacks while it was still green and fluffy on the outside and white on the inside. Anytime I saw those flowers growing up I would get so excited because I knew my ‘seed pods’ would be coming. I didn’t know until just a few years ago that they were passionfruit. I love the unripe ones, but because my brain thinks the purple is rotten, I can’t stomach it.

    • @IVOrganic
      @IVOrganic  5 лет назад +1

      Zak the Dragon Hello 👋 They’re are larger & smaller ones throughout, but overall, size is controlled by genetics- You must have a variety that produces larger fruit... OR, your vine is way happier than mine! :-)

    @17:48 those unripe passionfruits? Can you even eat them? They are kinda whitish inside and the pulp is not ready. And do they even continue to ripen after picking?

    Charles I love your videos, I have learned so much from you in such a short time as a new gardener. I would love to get some of that Frederick variety in my garden. I have already very successfully grown the Blue Crowns (passiflora caerulea) and the May Pops (passiflora incarnata) for 2 years. Im in Missouri though in zone 6. Would it even be worth trying to grow the (Frederick)passiflora edulis varieties in my area?

    hi,I like your videos and I am having a hard time controlling the vine, I have a trestle that the fruit is on top. the leaves are brown and I am not sure if that is normal. my question is can I do a very shot video and get some suggestion as too what I need to do? I also branched it out to go along my privacy fence so that part I think I am ok. I live in central Florida and I am going to start pruning because it is SOOO out of control.thanks in advance

    My vine has grown great this year, however it is not a rich green color, it's almost yellow. I wonder if it's getting to much water or if it is sick?

    • @IVOrganic
      @IVOrganic  5 лет назад +1

      Hello Tammy Vener
      ,
      A foliar nutritional spray may help it regain it's color over the winter... I'll be publishing a lesson on this topic before the end of this year. However, it may be due to the nights being cooler, or the soil being damper, that this tropical vine would prefer. Be sure to propagate some cuttings from your passion vine in spring or summer as the average passion vine only lives about 7 years! Keep me posted on your growing successes! Charles :-)

      The green fruits weren't mature enough as was evident from the video. Best to allow the fruits to commence ripening or remain on the vine until fully ripe before picking

      Hello Tortaboy,
      Off my 3-in-1 Apple Tree, in 2016 I enjoyed 1 green-red family favorite apple, then 2017 harvested 3 granny smith apples. The tree is now very well established measuring about 8-9 feet tall!!! All sides should be supporting quality apples in 2018. I harvested my granny smiths at 31:35 ruclips.net/video/EqiAsy-3RzU/видео.html to encourage the tree to grow more this year. Charles

    Can I grow passion fruit in Georgia aka zone 7b

    • @IVOrganic
      @IVOrganic  7 лет назад +2

      Hello Alex,
      Apparently there are some varieties that can tolerate 20 degrees. Check out this article: www.crfg.org/pubs/ff/passionfruit.html Also, there are many articles that discuss passion fruit die back in the winter, but the roots regrow vigorously every spring. To be cautious, I would start in the spring, and every fall make some cuttings that your bring indoors for the winter, and start again each year spring. One plant can grow 30-60 feet and make plenty of fruit in the first growing season! Keep me posted on your passion fruit growing successes! Charles :-)

    Will passion fruit root in water?

    • @IVOrganic
      @IVOrganic  7 лет назад +1

      Hello tortaboy,
      Passion fruit do root quit easily... So should root in water. I would make several more cuttings and put some in pots, others straight into the ground, etc.... Depending on light, water, temperature, etc... some will respond faster with new roots and shoots! Keep me posted on your growing successes! Also, if possible, try airlayering as well! Charles :-)
