      This can happen due to several reasons, like if there are a lot of temperature fluctuations in your region, or if too much water or too little water is being offered to the plant, or because of a lack of nutrients in the soil, which can cause the plant to abort its flower buds and prevent them from developing into fruits.

    • @ParthMayn
      @ParthMayn  Год назад

      Here, temperature fluctuations refer to sudden changes in weather conditions caused by factors such as intense sunlight 🌞 or continuous rainfall 🌧️, which can cause stress to the plant and affect its growth, including the development of flowers and fruits.

    I just planted a few in the ground, but it's too cold here, usually it gets down to -15C or even -25C in winter, so I'll try two approaches. One is to dump my fall compost pile (mostly fallen leaves) on top of it, which would be equivalent to about 1.5m of mulch. And I'll also take cuttings before winter comes and root them into pots that I'll keep indoors.

    • @ParthMayn
      @ParthMayn  2 года назад +2

      Well, those two are the appropriate approaches. Growing wooden cuttings of the vine indoors in winters is a great idea.

      Hi Nelson, please don't call me sir. I am an amateur gardener just like you.
      As far as the dropping of the bud is concerned, there can be three reasons behind it:
      1. Irregular Watering or Overwatering.
      2. Sudden change in temperature in your region or inappropriate 🌡️
      3. Lack of Sun or too much Sun 🌞
      I hope, you can now make an estimate what's the actual matter with your plant.

      Many varieties are not self-compatible (self-pollinating), especially if started from seeds. You may need another variety to allow cross-pollination to set fruit. A vine started as a cutting from a parent vine (clone), will usually set fruit.

    • @ParthMayn
      @ParthMayn  2 года назад +1

      18 to 20 inches pot would be great for this plant. But I would suggest you to directly plant it in the land if you want Passion fruits production year after year. Also you can make use of any compost, no matter what animal waste it is made up of, but make sure it is decomposed well.

      @ParthMayn  2 года назад

      If your soil has magnesium deficiency then you can add Epson salt too it... Otherwise, passiflora do fine with any compost or additionally you may also add seaweed granules which will fulfill its micro nutrients requirements...
      Remember, Less fertilizing is better than over fertilizing.

    Hello! I live in a tropical country and my passionfruit vine has been flowering for months now. However the flowers mature to right size but seem not to open, and just falls after a few days. What could probably be the reason?

    • @ParthMayn
      @ParthMayn  Год назад +1

      Well it can be due to temperature fluctuations in your area. Passion fruit vine doesn't like too dry or too cold weather.
      Passion fruits grow very well in humid regions. If the plant is not getting good humidity then flower dropping is very common in that case. Also to solve the flower dropping issue, You can try applying micro nutrients fertilizer such as sea weed extract or fish emulsion. You can spray the solution on its leaves and pour the same leftover liquid to the plant.
      I hope this helps!

    Hi
    //////about passiflora/////
    Can i ask a few questions
    1) my first passiflora leaves are curling in. What could be the issue?
    2) this new passiflora came today in a grow bag in soggy solid red sand.
    My question about this one is
    1) when do i repot it as it took 5 days to reach?
    If in a week then till then how do i water it bcs this soil appears soggy all the time?
    2) also it in end april in delhi now and right now temp is 34 degrees.
    How much of the red soil do i remove?
    Please advise asap

    • @ParthMayn
      @ParthMayn  Год назад

      Hi, leaves curling inward could be due to many reasons, such as some kind of infestation or pest attack, but in your case, I am assuming that your plant leaves are curling inward due to over-watering.
      Okay, the first thing you should do here is wait for the soil to dry out completely and strictly avoid over-watering your plant.
      If you suspect your soil may have a fungal infestation or your plant's roots may be at risk of rotting, you can use a solution of hydrogen peroxide and water during your next scheduled watering.
      It can be mixed with water in a ratio of 1:4, which means 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 4 parts water.
      Secondly, don't think of planting your plant into new soil as of now, as it's already in a stressful situation, and we don't want to put any more stress on it.
      Thirdly, when you see your plant is recovering and has started growing once again, then you can plant it to its final location - a semi-sun or full sun location.
      The Passiflora or passion flowers are very sensitive plants, so you have to be very careful when dealing with them. While repotting, don't disturb the roots, just plant it as it is, or else it won't survive.
      But yes, once you have made it adapt to your place, you will be mesmerized to see it flourishing so well with lots of its climbing tendrils and its flowers at your place.
      I wish you good luck with growing your passion flower. Fingers crossed!🤞

    • @ParthMayn
      @ParthMayn  Год назад

      By the way, don't forget to create a well-draining soil mixture when planting this plant. In my experience, repotting plants in high temperatures can be challenging and stressful for the plant. So, it might be best to leave your plant as is for now and wait until the monsoon season to repot it into a new container. This approach can help ensure a smoother transition and better results for your plant in the long run! 😊💚
