I just take cuttings about 4 inch and stick them in potting mix, put them somewhere bright, but not direct sunlight and keep them moist. I can't imagine buying all of those products to boost my success rate a few percent. Even if it doubled the success rate, the amount of propagation material you can get from one pruning would still be enough for more vines than anyone could need. A prolific growing plant, at least here in Cyprus anyway.

Just simply put the cuttings in water if you can't afford the potting materials. I love your videos and I've been able to succefully modify all examples for good results. Thanks so much!

Maybe try moss without peat - equally good. Peat bogs are in danger as a unique natural habitat as well as capturing and storing carbon. Just a thought. Thanks for the top tips 🌸

I did some cuttings today to replace some pots that had other vines that did not survive the 'winter' in Palm Springs. I cut some of the passion fruit vines to just place in water, however after researching and viewing your input. it makes sense of the procedure to initiate root growth. Thanks for posting.

Fantastic info! I cut my entire vine back and made many cuttings last year... only the tip cuttings took! I wondered why but after seeing your informative video, I'll know to just take tip cuttings! I'm on the east coast so my plant doesn't give me fruit.

Hello 👋 And, THANK YOU for the kind words! Yes, the tips of passion fruit cuttings (though more delicate) tend to root & grow a bit faster. Consider rooting other varieties- or joining a local garden club to learn what varieties grow best in your zone, so you can enjoy these delicious home-grown fruits.

Passion flower grows crazy here in South East Texas. I planted one, and did not believe that it would spread as far as the info said. So I planted it next to the house -- bad idea. That sucker grabbed hold of the house and the vine grew all the way up to the top of the second floor. It also spread from the main vine and covered the windows. I let it be, because the tendrils do not cause damage. It was crazy. Fortunately, two more ended up popping up from the ground about 8 feet from the house --I am thinking maybe from roots. So I cut down the original vine, to the ground, and I cut it if it tries to sprout. The ones that popped up in the yard got huge also, but at least they are away from the house. This plant makes a gorgeous vine. The leaves are huge and a beautiful shade of green. The flowers on the vine I have, have gotten up to 3.5" in diameter and the whole flower is a beautiful purple. What I call the petals are purple and the fringe is a darker purple. Amazing, and it blooms non stop.

For me living in zone 8 I water twice a week and the plant does fine. Sometimes I have even skipped watering ends it continues to thrive even compare to the other plans that already wilting in the summer heat

And last year at 35 out of NOWHERE I had a major want to grow those bright beautiful and weird plants/flowers from seed or cuttings…. Now I’m obsessed… ask my kids and hubby… they hate it which is weird and sucks….
It’s so interesting how everyone has their own cuttings mixture recipe, what they claim works “best” with cuttings…

At the end of this video you mentioned that the families will enjoy fruits by next year. That's great that your plants can bear fruit inside of a year! Unless of course I misunderstood. I think mine will take 3 to 5 years.

    • @CP-tl2sz
      @CP-tl2sz 10 месяцев назад +1

Typically takes one year to grow a good root system that will produce growth and blooms. Easiest way is to dig some root in the fall and plant it for spring. Caution, these passion vines with an established and extensive root system, can become extremely vigorous growers to 20-30 feet and will take over your fence. Plant them in full sun. They do freeze but return in spring.

    • @thecajunqueen100

@@CP-tl2sz Omigoodness thank you. I did grow that vine and it gave fruit the first season, not a lot but some. Currently I have patio space alone but have my vine in a huge container. It’s approaching year 3 and I got about 40
Flowers this season and of those about half fertilized. There are two preying mantises in residence and they are scaring away/eating the pollinators. I don’t have the heart to kick them off my property so I go out there and hand pollinate the passion flowers. Thx for responding.

      Hello Sofia Rivas,
Please keep me posted on your gardening successes! :-) Also, here is a short (3min) video explaining the benefits of IV Organics: ruclips.net/video/Aztc7qZEv8U/видео.html. This video does not discuss (1) foliar spray & (2) protecting bulbs from underground critters such as insects & rodents. Let me know if you have any other questions! :-)

Thank you! My neighbor has the most gorgeous passion vine ever and I’m going to see if she will give me a cutting! Can you post the name & brand of the sunblock for plants you used? I tried to get a pic…

Not like a little snip of a section is going to be missed. These things grow like MAD! I'm in hot Phoenix, where not too much grows during the summer. This vine (Fredrick variety) takes the heat. As long as it is watered, it could care less about the blazing Arizona sun. I have one that is maybe a year and a half in the ground. It is covering about 20 foot of wall and now I'm training it up over two new pergolas I bought. I'm watching this video to learn how to do cuttings so when it eventually dies, I will have new vines growing to replace it and also to put some new ones elsewhere in my yard. Before this. I had 2 of them on my back wall and they were gorgeous, spreading out along the wall and cooling it and they were just starting to put out flowers. Then, the city sprayed for weeds on the other side of the fence (road side) and must have gotten in on the passions that were climbing over the fence wall and it killed both of them. So, now I have this new one on the wall bordering the neighbors.

There is a lot of new growth so I don’t know if it’s ok to remove the seamingly dead vines or should I just leave it alone ? Please help it the first of march and last yr it was full of fruit in April. I watch you a lot great videos and good information.

      Hello Rosa,
I just noticed your comment... Thank you so much for the kind remark! :-)
Here is another video that I prepared that also discusses the cutting method of propagating plants: ruclips.net/video/FduD1idqIIs/видео.html However, the best way of propagating MOST ANY plant is a technique called air layering, and here is a video demonstrating that technique: ruclips.net/video/rOjf7LliPmM/видео.html If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me! :-)

Wow, love the video! Do these vines make passion fruit? Can I just use peat moss to root them?
