This is an excerpt from our hour-long Q&A with Terry that's available on DrumChannel.com! This was a live stream we aired earlier this year in which Terry answered questions from our chat. You might recognize some of your questions in this video! 🙂
play please toooooo words for nothing are you a drummer play your drum i can't hear nothing here it's no excellent is insufficient totally what you said
Hi Terry -- Here is a live recording of you with Frank Zappa's band in February 1977. You guys were playing outside -- and you with no shirt, in the freezing cold. The band played incredible and your drumming was nothing short of amazing. . ruclips.net/video/0T9ibxkDluE/видео.html Enjoy.
Missing Persons is never talked about enough. The records are masterpieces ~ Rhyme and reason being beyond cutting edge electronic pop and masterfully recorded by Bruce Swedien. I get the chills every time I listen. The Color in your life explodes with a bombastic power station drum sound~ Ken Scots genius producing on Spring session m. Please discuss Missing persons more and or make a documentary on this LA pop phenomenon.
Hey, Terry You say you weren't feeling some of Zappa's more comedy stuff, but you certainly looked like you enjoyed doing Punky's Whips with Dweezil on the wonderful ZPZ live DVD. Incidentally, you and Joe Travers trading licks on that DVD shows how two drummers can be spectacularly good, and so different.
The teachings and verbalize steps of a world renowned Drummer/Producer what abilities he has with mind, heart and hands and ankles , the whole body element moving around those plastic stretch skins and Bronze hammered tonal plates. I followed him from his time with family in Missing Persons what a hit, he knows how to beat drums!
Big fan. Talk more about your missing persons days! I saw you live for the R&R tour and y’all blew my socks off!! Why didn’t you Warren and Patrick make albums of y’all just jamming because all of you guys made a glorious noise together!! I’m sad about this, it never happened😢 but I love you brother.
Back in 2000 or 2001 I got to watch bozzio and wackerman perform the black page at a drum clinic in folly Beach South Carolina. I'll remember it forever.
Terry did a clinic about a zillion years ago at Towson University in Maryland and he had the full kit and if memory serves his MP rig and all everyone asked about was the us drag bit so he graciously walked everyone through it. Then he did his thing and there was a technical independence bit that sounded like Jim Chapin studies on steroids. He was so impressive and just the nicest guy. The black page was revisited. So a great clinic I remember right off my head a zillion years later. Thanks Terry! For the old memories and new ones!!
Thank you Terry for your inspirational words on your musical journey. Being a musician as well it means a lot to share your gifts. I had the pleasure of seeing you perform in Portland in 2012 with your old band mates U.K. Incredible performance and fun to watch. I hope you had as good of time with that tour as your audience did watching it. Bittersweet seeing John Wetton performing so well. R.I.P.
Although i love a wide range of genres and styles i was never a big Zappa fan, however I have always been a percussion fan so thanks Mr. Bozzio some helpful advice.
Il n'y a pas de légende. Terry est tout simplement bon Il est ce qu'était Jeff beck à la guitare. Toujours innovant. Sacré talent ce type. Amicalement de France
I still have my ticket for the clinic at just drums in Brampton that you missed about 20 years ago. You said you would reschedule. Anytime works for me.
A friend of mine knew Vinnie Coliuta in LA. My friends take was that even though Vinnie was a brilliant musician, the financial part of his success was not equal to his fame. What would you understand about this.
Terry's period with Missing Persons was the most inspirational part of his career for me. Would love a Missing Persons question regarding his drumming during this period like... WHAT WAS THE DRUM SET YOU CREATED FOR THE RHYME & REASON ALBUM? YOUR DRUM SOUND WAS SO DIFFERENT FROM SPRING SESSION M. WHAT INSPIRED THE CHANGE FOR YOU?
Terry my name is Moose And I am a huge fan of yours You knew my biological father / drum builder Yossi Buzin back in the day If someone can forward my question to you What was the hardest piece of music Zappa ever gave you? And what were the rehearsals / lifestyle like?
Hitherto, not too impreessed by Mr Bozzio; to much flare, too little pocket. Perhaps I just didn’t get it. However, watching this I realize what a great guy he is. Thank you!

Yes yes yes! And working with Chuck and Patrick!
You're a Legend Terry, GRAZIE for being a so clever person/musician/visionary !!!
Thanks Terry for being a HUGE inspiration for me personally, and for blazing new trails in the art of drumming.
my favorite era was the Roto Tom time with U.K. ❤& Missing Persons ❤❤
I saw Terry back in the 90s at a clinic doing melodic drumming. Totally blew my mind.
You are a master of speed. Mental Hopscotch had me perplexed back in the 80s. The quads on the kick snare always blew me away.
Terry, I always appreciate how you constantly are exploring the drums. Always "pushing It". I also appreciate how humble you are.
Magnifico.⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️
Thanks Terry 🎼🔥 Thanks DC🥁 ✌️👍👍
Love Terry's drumming and thanks for the Q&A excerts. First question, "Terry how do you pronounce your last name?". Answered!😂

Cool video, great incite. Thanks 👍
I'm a guitarist and I love listening to all these drummers speak.
Terry, you looks fantastic!
Terry is the best ever for me. Vinnie, Brechtlien and Stanton Moore round it out. Great drummers!
god bless Terry - a huge positive influence on my life and drumming ! thank you terry
What do you think about Ansley Dunbar's drumming? Is there a generational difference in styles, between you & he? Thanks very much.
Il n'y a pas de légende. Terry est tout simplement bon
Il est ce qu'était Jeff beck à la guitare. Toujours innovant. Sacré talent ce type. Amicalement de France
I hope I look that good at 72. Gives me a good excuse to buy a kit.
❤❤❤❤

Thanks for this Mr Bozzio!!
Glad to see Terry has lost weight!
Your explanation about identifying a drummer's signature by the consistent placement of the last 2 notes of a swing ostinato was brilliant!
Did he have the chops to play with Weather Report? He sites a few of its members as being in his ideal group.
The only name i see in my mind... For a new line up for RUSH... Is this man. A legend from another dimension.
A friend of mine knew Vinnie Coliuta in LA. My friends take was that even though Vinnie was a brilliant musician, the financial part of his success was not equal to his fame. What would you understand about this.

I can’t help but think, this totally calm, intelligent guy is the same one from Baby Snakes “I’m so cute” etc.

Im the only drummer I know of who can perfectly play The Black Page backwards.
I keep it simple..probably old talk but "The Black Page" Zappa music..just the drums are a solo without music
Hes aged well
Out of the hour, only 9 minutes is the "Best"??
Gotta love Terry such a nice dude
You're the best. Your drumming is so musical.
play please toooooo words for nothing are you a drummer play your drum i can't hear nothing here
