FTX are definitely worth there money I’ve just bought the Bugster for £90 on offer brushed and the things brilliant for the money even took a 3s run on stock electrics surprisingly although I wouldn’t advise it 😂 definitely great starter RCs, parts are cheap as chips you can’t go wrong for the money. Can’t wait to see how fast you get this upto before the drive line gives out some where, Tamiya TT01/2 I believe average 50mph before something gives out. Certainly be interesting to see 😎 what electrics you planning on fitting? Brushed or Brushless? Hobbywing or Banggood special?

Yeah they are definitely a good cheap option, only thing I'd say is they're not very strong, but as you say parts are cheap. I've got a Bugsta and a Carnage. The Bugsta actually made a surprisingly good kinda lcg crawler once you lock the diffs.
Yeah will be interesting to see what it can take. It will probably need metal spur gear etc at some point as the plastic ones can strip easily, especially with more power. Plan is to go Brushless with a high kv motor, see what we get, then play around with gearing and different motors. 👍😎

What was wrong with your Nimh pack? I might be chasing you. Starting to do similar to mine. First to 2s Lipo, then later will put in a brushless combo in then 3s Lipo! I like the body l yours. 350Z?

I realised after it was because esc was set for lipo, so then with a nimh battery on it, it was registering low voltage and cutting out! 🤦
I need to get back around to finishing this project, parked it as been busy with other stuff and we've been using it fortnightly at our drift club.
Body is meant to be an R35 GTR, its just a cheap Ebay body, cost about £13 iirc. 👍
