      Agreed. The video quality is amazing and GNOME is a very premium desktop

      Honestly Gnome is feeling more polished than Windows and macOS at this point, switched full time over a year ago.
      Only waiting for fractional scaling now.

    I always hope for something to amaze me in a new major release, but there's nothing in Gnome 45 that does it for me. I like the chamges i see, but I'm already ready for Gnome 46, or Gnome 50.
    What changes will we see then? A Gnome personal assistant would be a nice addition for one. Maybe a Gnome Container Hub/Manager, which would do exactly what you'd expect it to and be compatible with what it should be compatible with. What else? What's in Gnome 50?

    • @venykrid
      @venykrid 9 месяцев назад

      You could probably make your own Mycroft assistant and integrate it, unless you're talking about a LLM thing in which case similar idea but you'd have to put more work in and pay for gpt or a lot of compute
      Container hub would be cool, idk if either of these should necessarily be core gnome features but they seem interesting

    Cool stuff, if only Gnome would fix the blur issues (ik it’s never gonna happen shell wide, maybe only for the top bar).
    I still have to configure i3 on xorg (being on popos / ubuntu with optimus is apparently a recipe for disaster in regards to building and running hyprland or sway unfortunately), but really cool to see such a smooth and functional oob experience (I suppose that’s their main goal, not to satisfy my showoff eyecandy “needs”).

    Now that KDE is finally stable with wayland, I have moved on from Gnome.
    Will only use it if it has consistency in its UI and font rendering and the extensions app works out of the box with epiphany. I don't want to use firefox for that.

    They should seriously add a scroll speed slider. People are having to fix their issues like cavemen googling and throwing stuff at the wall to see if it sticks

    Even though they said the mouse cursor was supposed to be smoother it’s actually worse with the new version of mutter

      Ubuntu or Linux Mint. Personally, I prefer Linux Mint as it is very similar to Windows.

      Anything you want really, just avoid Ubuntu at all costs. Mint is recommended, but best gnome experience are probably Void (non-begginer, sorry) and Nobara/Fedora.
