To me the big problem with season 3 is that Hughie was right, he was just given this stupid motive. I'm sorry but it makes no sense to confront Homelander the way Starlight did, the guy literally spells it out that if she ruins his public image, he's gonna go nuts and commit genocide or something, which makes the ending even worse to me, because Homelander isn't even that strong. Maeve basicly beat him, and Butcher was able to stand a chance. I get that they got suped up, but they really just held their own against Vought's most valuable asset, created to be THE STRONGEST supe.
@@joaquimgianini1234 Well Homelander was weakened and freightend as well as traumatized and wanted to defend Ryan. On top of that comes that Homelander probably still had feelings for Maeve while she simply wanted to kill him finally. Regarding him being so Powerful: I think what really make him so Strong is his flying ability. He is very fast and can go everywhere he wants and if he would genocide then they could do nothing agaimst him flying to different spots lasering them and flying to another
The bottom line was that Homelander seemed genuinely worried at the end of the episode. It's the first time we've seen him showing battle damage. Butcher might have to inject an entire tube of the temp V to take him out if he kills Soldier Boy first.
I think that homelander had shown battle damage before. Not physically but after the finally of se2. First two episodes of this season he seemed broken and powerless
@@jonwifebeaterjones6389 yeah, the whole stormfront situation hit him on the inside. It'll be fun to see how he handles the revelation that he can lose a physical fight.
Hughie not teleporting Starlight = Starlight dead. If anything, Starlight is the toxic one, not accepting that sometimes she also needs help, that she can't shoulder everything by herself. If anything, she is showing behaviour that is commonly described as "toxic masculinity" here. Was one of my biggest gripes with this season. Yes, Hughie could have handled this a bit better, communicated things better. And yes, he did enjoy getting supe'd up a bit too much sometimes. But overall, he really did grow as a person. While in reverse, Starlight expects Hughie do to the exact same thing she doesn't want herself: Sit back, don't get into danger, let others handle the dangerous stuff.
Exactly. Some of these female characters are written as flawless. While most, if not all male characters are portrayed as flawed. I know Starlight had a difficult start at life and made some mistakes, but she was never really 'wrong'. Kripke is a wokey, although he handled it well. Until season 3 that is... His wokeness is showing some cracks. I can still watch this show tho.
Really? Toxic masculinity metaphor? Hughie clearly feels guilt over Robin's death and beats himself for not saving her, despite her death not being his fault. Also if he hadn't teleported Annie she would have definitely either died or be severely injured, like the other supes that were hit by Soldier Boy's ray.
I know, right? Apparently men want to protect their partners is "toxic masculinity." Well, if that's the case, then I guess this video is an exhibition of toxic femininity (i.e. constantly lecturing men about how their base nature is bad and they need to do better, while never taking any responsibility or even acknowledging that women have similar traits).
This idea that Hughie is "toxic", he has PTSD suffering the loss of his girlfriend due to A train and is trying to save Annie. This whole video is off on a lot of it's points.
The point is though, this is his hangup. He could not have saved his girlfriend (instantly obliterated from out of nowhere) so the guilt is his own problem, not Annies. Also, if you have to play the hero card to feel better then maybe don't jump to dating a superhero. He is bringing his baggage to the relationship which will probably poison the it (which is why it is called 'toxic').
@@patrickblind998 No, the point is that Annie isn't as strong as she thinks she is. Soldierboy or Homelander can take her out easily. Hughie doesn't want that to happen. But I suppose you'd happily let your girlfriend get her arms and legs ripped off, yes?
@@alcoholandfun243 Having seen friends and strangers heads popped, lasered into pieces, ripped to shreds and so many other horrors... Annie wants to live or die by her code. Hughie trying to play the hero is his wish and he is forcing it on her even though she has asked him not to. Plus, I don't think at this point that Hughie is her boyfriend anymore so it's a moot point. He has failed her too many times, lied to her too many times and all she wants is one person who she can trust... which is clearly not Hughie.
What does Annie think she can achieve? Does she think she can keep herself and Hughie safe from Homelander by becoming a slave to Homelander's empire? And Hughie was right to take Annnie out of there or else she could have been hit by Soldier Boy's mega blast.

Kinda funny how this video tries to portray Hughie saving Starlight as a form of toxic masculinity but then immediately plays into the common trope of women hurting men for laughs or empowerment. Wanting to protect and be the hero to people you care about is not toxic masculinity it's love. Starlight grew up wanting to be the hero and save the world on a regular basis. Yeah, he saved her, and that's great, but she was there to save all the people and she couldn't do that because of his decision. He was in there so he could get the innocents out of the way in the first place, and he knew he only had few minutes, but instead of rushing, he first decided to pick a fight with A-Train, and then only save his girlfriend, screw the dozens of innocent poeple still inside.

One thing I am not understanding from the comment section is that Hugie saved Annie from Soldier Boy because she would have lost in a fight. They do a good job being so self aware they can’t rly call it “woke” the way it’s fed to them. It’s sparked some interesting conversations that kinda helped me reel some people in that were leaning into the weird online radicalization

I hate that phrase/ term Toxic masculinity. because it's stupid. it's a term that was recently coined to imply that men are toxic just for being men. but I digress. if anybody's been keeping up with watching the show. it's clear the reason that Huey is willing to cross the line and take this experimental temporary compound v. to get powers is because of his love for starlight. in season 1 Huey was basically helpless in saving his girlfriend Robin who was killed by A train. in the beginning of season 1. Huey has also expressed to starlight about how helpless he is to save her. How helpless he feels. this is even more amplified in the episode. we're homelander was in there with him and starlight he was right in their faces. basically mocking Huey and telling him about how on TV him and starlight are a couple. in the public eye. it's clear that Huey is desperate to cross the line to not be weak and helpless anymore especially when it comes to protecting the ones he loves. he feels like he failed to protect his girlfriend Robin and he doesn't want to fail to protect Starlight. he wants to be able to save her. because he couldn't save his girlfriend and this is someone else that he loves.
Actually, from a purely linguistic analysis, "toxic masculinity" implies that masculinity itself is NOT toxic, because if masculinity were toxic, then "toxic masculinity" would be a pleonasm, so what "toxic masculinity" actually refers to is masculinity that is toxic, not that masculinity itself is toxic. Toxic is a modifier of the noun masculinity.
@@slj3332 how does that not make sense? Toxic Masculinity refers to masculinity that is toxic. It's like saying "Yellow Water." Yellow is a descriptor of the color of the water, because not all water is yellow.
A good example of toxic masculinity I think is that “real men” don’t need help. Real men don’t go to the doctor. Warped Ideas of what it means to be a man, that’s a toxic kind of masculinity.
I´ve maybe seen an different episode but in the End it is clear that Huey DID save Starlight, because after we see the whole Thing blow up we also see that many Sups are either injured or dead.

Your never gonna keep someone if leaving is how you approach these things cause with humans it's always gonna happen. Everyone I know that's been married most Thier life says one thing when I ask for advice. It's not about how little or big the fight is or what it's about that defines a relationship it's how you handle the aftermath that defines the relationship. Like saying "my tv needs electricity to work so.... why cant it use fire?". It is a cool idea I will grant you that! that kind of thinking leads to some cool written fights and arcs but I would say homelander would cut her in half or punch right thru her before she could try from what we have seen in the show. she seems fairly weak as heroes go in the show, so i wonder what shes like in the comics which i will read online someday.

Season 1 and 2 Starlight was great. Season 3 Starlight was an idiot. *edit 2* "it turns into a toxic masculinity metaphor". And just like that I it's obvious the narrator is either an imbecile or the person who wrote her lines is. 1) Starlight is a member of the Seven, she cant just go after Homelander IN FRONT OF POTENTIALLY DOZENS OF WITNESSES. 2) Her powers work with nearby electricity and electronics.. and that house is in the middle of bumfuck nowhere with very limited energy sources. 3) This is going to be an intended showdown between Soldier Boy, Homelander, and Butcher. Starlight would get DESTROYED immediately by either homelander or friendly fire, her durability and speed are not that great compared to the superspeed the previous 3 mentioned or Hughie's teleportation skills. 4) Even disregarding all of this, Hughie wants to protect Starlight. Sure, he should have more faith in her skills, but when in the fuck is wanting to protect the one you love "a toxic masculinity metaphor"? Get the fuck out of here. "She attacks Hughie to get away from him". Yeah no, this is totally fine. Hughie was totally about to attack her and hurt her emotionally or physically and-... oh wait, he wasn't.
He is very fast and can go everywhere he wants and if he would genocide then they could do nothing agaimst him flying to different spots lasering them and flying to another

While in reverse, Starlight expects Hughie do to the exact same thing she doesn't want herself: Sit back, don't get into danger, let others handle the dangerous stuff.
what? did you not watch the season finale. That shit would fucking kill him and he saved her in the end. shut the f$@k up

Remember: There is no such thing as toxic masculinity, only toxic lack of masculinity.

True. Hughie is the last person I'd describe as toxic masculine. That title would go to Soldier Boy or Home Lander.
@@errolpaul8043 there is no such thing as toxic masculinity.

Porky's was raunchier then this and yet again only and R coagula 1978 was rated R and is considered one of most depraved movies ever created. Same with 40 days of Sodium.
La serie está mucho mejor que el cómic 😁🇨🇷
Come on we need to face reality here, there’s one reason and one reason only they change the event from the comic books… budget.
If the production team had open $ coffers, the event would’ve had been a lot closer to the comics, Ennis is a genius and if this so called director had half of Ennis brains, he wouldn’t been using the boys and would be directing an original creation
Happy Sunday thanks for putting the source material out there for the normies
Please never say that shit unironically

I don’t know about how super powers are supposed to work in this world, but if starlight is able to manipulate energy - she absorbs electricity and shoots it as a laser?- then why doesn’t she play around with her powers to the point that maybe she can absorb other types of energies… like homelanders eyebeam?
Good question
Maybe because she would have to fight homelander to do that and he could fuck her up with a single punch?
going by ONLY the tv show here. She needs electricity it seems. so its a leap to assume any form of energy is useable for her.
@@Auron710 she could practice with other types of energies, she doesn’t have to go directly try and poke homelander in the eyes lol. Let’s say she can’t do that, then how about learning to manipulate her energy release? Maybe she could condense her energy into a light sword or create a force field? Or why not even play around with the powers she actually showcases, why note release her energy in a way that she can disorient her enemies like a solar flare?
Doesn't our brain use electricity to function? Theoretically couldn't she draw from that?
Little Nina should have been played by Olympia Ivleva from Little Big.
that would've been interesting.
12:32 huh? H didn't TP in to save A, but to scouts TNT and i would like to see A handle SB
I didn't even realize we were even looking at Herogasm until someone said it. I was expecting the resort
Spartacus was more shocking than Herogasm.
The Boys tv series version of Herogasm is much tamer than it's comic book counterpart.
Every time you say “Big Homie” I keep expecting someone to throw up gang signs lol.
they learned very well from Game of Thrones lol
"Where his DENSITY lies".
"Lorain...You are my DENSITY".

Soldier Boy was obviously drafted to be their view of what a real "Captain America" would look like. That is why they are commenting on how 'Captain's' views of women and homosexuals would be if he remained frozen for 70 years (which is not at all depicted by Marvel).
Well in the comics the Solider Boy character is based on Captain America and Payback is The Avengers. Homelander and the 7 are Superman and The JL
@@chinyereugwu9431 Yes, that's right anyway, Homelander is also inspired by Captain America as well. I mean look at his costume and the way he's portrayed in the media in universe. He's both a parody of Superman ie everyone's boyscout, goodie two shoes. The ideal hero.
And Captain America so totally powerful super patriot defending our country from these evil evil ... non-americans
Got an Ad midroll, "Everything Zen Episode Six"

That's twice as long as this video !

But dads carrying their children like a kangaroo IS unmanly.
I personally love comic version. In the show it's all about fight between Soldier Boy, Homelander and Butcher, when in the source material we can clearly see that the "Alien invasion stuff" is not so heroic if it took place in real life. Comics is just more focused in main thing - "supes are even worse than people, don't forget it", while in Amazon adaptation you clearly see that most of main heroes are "protected from filth" and "not like everyone" , wich is totally sucks, because I personally don't want to feel for the crazy spoiled brats in spandex with god complex. Just my opinion, but Herogasm in comics did it's thing perfectly, introducing you with this dark, twisted world, giving us little glimpse of what we're about to get, truly shocking, but at the same time straight hints of many important moments in the story itself, not this personal dramas and stuff about Homelander being "more of a closed person", because he's not. He should be like " I can do anything I want "© to the maximum of it. Having it all inside one arc is great for me as reader, while TV series trying to make me wait for Soldier Boy's arrival so that this naked pile of C-tier super losers disappear and we'll got some "good shit" 😅
By doing an “annual” favor or the leader of the Seven 🤔
Need me to answer?
Honestly.. the shows episode of herogasm really wasnt at all that shocking or crazy… i definitely thought itd be way worse. I think im not in the minority with this either.
Hughey teleporting her out wasn’t a mistake. She would have died for sure at that time. But I believe she’s up for a huge upgrade season 4 that will allow her to hold her own against Homelander, A-Train and any new baddies.
Man, I am sure out there is a fanfiction (non sexual) where a Viltrumite invation triggers just in the middle of Herogasm... I want to read it already.
herogasm was a letdown for me. The only interesting parts were Hughie's confrontation with A-train and the fight with homelander later on. Everything else in Herogasm was just... an attempt at shockvalue with some T&A, nothing we hadnt already seen. I found this episode to be idiotically hyped up for no real reason.
*edit
Season 3 Starlight couldnt handle opening up a can of soda without asking someone to open it for her and telling them the plan to destroy Homelander immediately afterwards. Season 1 and 2 Starlight was great. Season 3 Starlight was an idiot.
*edit 2*
"it turns into a toxic masculinity metaphor".
She just lost her temper and assaulted him. He might have been on a power high and lost perspective, she attacked HIM and lashed out. Dont give me this bullshit about toxic masculinity while at the same time you're literally saying it's okay for the woman to assault the man like that. Fucking hell, maybe Amber Heard has a spot open for the writer on her staff.
I have never read the Herogasm comics or watched the series. Just reading parts of the original graphic novel and seeing part of the pilot convinced me that the whole concept is grotesque and beyond awful. One person said this entire mess was created by folks who hate the concept of real heroes. I could not agree more.
Eh. I like the comics better. In the comics, they pretend an alien empire is invading earth and go “fight it” for days when in reality they book it to Florida for a massive orgy event at a hotel.
They should’ve done that and still tied it into the story.
Nonetheless I still liked the fight in the show, I just think the creative direction should at least stay faithful to the comics
Yeah, but they couldn't use aliens or outer space as an excuse since they haven't mentioned any of that yet, I don't think there is gonna be an "alien race" in the TV show
@@alfiecrichton9834 yeah but the aliens are fake - there’s no such thing even in the comics - so it still would’ve worked out.
the comic is just awful
@@delycan4912 says someone who clearly hasn't read them.
Nah nah hughie messes up, but teleporting Annie out of heroism definitely wasn't one😂 I mean... did you see what happened to my man love sausage?
Lay off my man soldier boy, he was a product of his time and just followed orders. In the end he was the only one going with the plan and everyone turned their backs on him. Best Character in the show by far. Yes, he used to be terrible, but he has redeemed himself.
Redeem himself? He killed countless civilians with his lazer blasts.

I gotta be honest. Maybe it was seeing a scene similar in Ep. 1 of this season that took the air out of it for me.
Thanks for explaining these changes
Bro didn't quit yappin. "Soldier boy is not the same as in the comics, as he wasn't introduced in herogasm. He was the one who founded it." "And also, this time, Soldier Boy wasn't introduced in herogasm. He is actually the one who created it!" "In this timeline, herogasm was actually created by Soldier Boy!" I GET IT. I heard it the first time. This video should be 10 minutes long, not 28.
"Herogasm is not organized by Vought"
2 seconds later
"Its organized by Vought themselves" ?????????
Ink the first one was meant for tv show while second was meant for comics
Mother’s Milk got covered in Father’s Milk 💀
taking even a brief look through the comic, i honestly say it was more tame than the show
Am I the only one that sees the "subtle" shift towards the "good" males turning "bad" and a woman being the only "real" superhero?
It's not a shift it the same in the comics. The boys aren't good guys.
@@chinyereugwu9431 You did see the "", right? The idea in the comics is that they're less jerks than the "superheroes", but more twisted in some regards. What I'm talking about is the overlay that's subtly being placed on top.
As much as I tried to watch this video the monotonous narration killed my interest. See you on the next vid.
The Boys is a good show / comic but the writers really come up with some cringe names for their superhero characters
Pretty sure that was the point
That's what a parody is
@@jpain5986 I do understand that, but seems like they could be just a *little* more creative. Like “Let’s call this character ‘Stormfront,’ then in a big reveal, people will find out she’s a Nazi!” Like, duh, who could have seen that coming 🤦♂️
@@gregbors8364 like captain America (a guy created by American military) or ironman (a guy in iron) wolverine ( a guy with claws) batman( a guy that wears a bat costume), boys is just a parody of how uncreative original superhero comics are, it's like a joke
