Favorite Lennon song of all time! Love your videos, Nate! I've tried forever to learn this song. You had me playing it in no time. You differently have a gift, brother! Blessings!
Lots of good songs on the double fantasy album. Cleanup time, dear yoko, im losing you. Starting over and jealous guy would sound great with the Nate treatment
Hey, You are a pretty good instructor. I haven't played my keyboards in months (focusing on guitar lately), but I like what you are doing and is it giving me an itch again.
Thank you thank you thank you Nate. I was buggering about for ages trying to figure where to put my fingers for this SIMPLE classic, clueless, I had CDE FEC for the melody bit and A F A F A F for the left. When I saw your C, Eflat, E, C Eflat, E F E C. I just fell on my knees. Made my day. 😮😲😯
Excellent and very detailed tutorial! This is one of the most complex piano songs that you’ve done so far. There was a release of Double Fantasy stripped down without all of the piano overdubs if you’re interested. I was listening to Angie by The Rolling Stones. Nicky Hopkins has some awesome piano work in that song. It might be one to consider doing a tutorial on.
Thank you so much. I have to learn this. One more request can you do Oh My Love the part John plays and not mixed with the Nicki Hopkins embellished part. Thank you.
This is so exciting, can't wait to start this tutorial! Would love a tutorial of Sampha's "(No one knows me) like the piano" The piano part is lovely and it's my dream to play it on the piano... in my mother's home 😅
"Thanks for all your tutorials! It would be great if you could include somewhere the sustain pedal status, as it is really important and nobody mentions it. Many Thanks!
Thanks! You're right, I should mention it more...I used to and have fallen out of the habit. If you havent watched my sustain pedal video, check it out...I use the same approach for basically every song: ruclips.net/video/GetYKdfLbgE/видео.htmlsi=WkA675hnBuWBu-Ri
Hi, great videos! I noticed your playing chords around c3 here and c4 + bass octaves on another video - any advice on where chords sound best in the context of a song, and accompanying voice or is it just choosing what sounds best? I also guess your just doing 1 bass note because the chords are an octave lower here too - maybe too bassy? Thanks!
Hey! The real answer is whatever sounds best to you and serves the sound of the song. Chords do start to sound muddy if they are too low...this song is just about as low as sounds good. On a cheaper or not great piano, it might even be too low. I tend to think chords sound the best more toward the middle of the keyboard or between middle and bass C. In terms of octaves or single notes in the left, sometimes it is a matter of the lower octave being too low, but usually it's more a choice of how powerful the song, or section of the song should sound. Cheers!
Excellent tutorial. Do you know the song "The way it is" by Bruce Hornsby? The piano in that is beautiful and impressive. It's one of my mother's favourite songs. I'd love to learn it and play it for her.
Hi Swarna, I'm sorry, I'm not interested in doing this song, I have bad associations with it 😬 I hope you can learn it from one of the tutorials that are already online

That's so great to hear! Inspiring people to play more and have more fun with piano is probably my biggest goal

Awesome!
Nice one, Nate! I’m with ya on the Lennon stuff. Love it. This song is a good work up to Jealous Guy, another great tune but a little more difficult
Indeed! Still trying to figure out how I want to arrange Jealous Guy so that it's not too difficult but not too basic
Great arrangement!
Thanks!
Great lesson Nate, would love you to do a simple version of Free Bird for us novices, please.

According to the credits John played a Yamaha electric piano.
