Hey buddy! Great comparison between the two. From what I’ve read in comments, people have been wanting this. I believe that you answered a lot of people’s question on why buy a sxs over a Jeep. Also. They don’t have to buy what you have in your sxs bc there’s a lot to choose from. People just have to do there research to see what fits there lifestyle the best. Nicely done 👍🏻
Good evening! Thanks. It was a good time doing this one. That’s exactly right, you could buy a x3 in the 20s and be even more capable than my xpedition. Every machine has a place your spot on Buddy!
I’ve had fun making these comparisons. I appreciate the feedback. I’m shooting to get a high-end race side-by-side out next. Hope you have a good day buddy!
@americandream_89 yes sir, I love the ride of the general over the last 3 Rangers I had before . I will probably go with the Xpedition just for the ride quality even tho I don't trail ride much.
Great video for comparison. Im currently in a 22 General XP1000 looking to go to a xpedition northstar 2 door or a Ranger 1500XD northstar ultimate next 🤔
Had a chance to drive the xpedition last fall. It was awesome. I couldn't believe the handling and ride on the trails. Never drove and rode in anything like it. If I had a complaint, it would be that they are really loud in the cab. @@americandream_89
@@hunterh112010 it’s the best AArm machine out for sure. I agree on noise in cab. I’ve gotten used to it now but still at times find it revved beyond liking.
Stock jeep, 30% built for offroad. VS SXS 100% built to offroad. Not a comparison. I have seen 200k jeeps STILL not be able to do what a stock SXS can. The buy a jeep crowd is delusional.
I think a lot of them have that delusion from a money standpoint. As in it’s hard to afford both. So they try to convince their self that they can buy a Jeep and do the same thing.. that’s not me knocking someone for money it’s just the only conclusion I can figure out. Because in both of them for a matter of 10 minutes, you should be able to understand they’re not in the same league.
Do the Rubicon trail … Jeep would be the winner all day long the trail you drove was a 1 out of 10 as far as difficulty maybe less than 1 your side x side wouldn’t get 1 mile of the Rubicon I’ve watched them fail again and again good for overlanding I guess
i would have like to see the noise comparison in the vehicles, the polaris seemed really loud. nicely done. That jeep did great with bald tires and not airing down.
A SxS will always have more of the “fun factor” associated with it than a Jeep for the majority of people except the extreme Jeep off roaders. From a price standpoint, yes, I can see where with the prices of these SxS’s are now why someone would just go buy a Jeep or Tacoma. But, most of the people where I live in Wyoming never take them anywhere other than a well driven two track in the country or mountains so I see their point in having a daily driver as well. Do you think it would have been a better test with just a 2 door Wrangler just based on shorter wheel base? I love my 23 Defender Max Limited and the “fun factor” is awesome! Besides that, I can cover a lot more country in a shorter amount of time and not beat my truck up in the process. Great job!
They for sure have the fun factor. I A 2 door would have been better in the tight spaces. But I took it really easy on this Jeep. I just scratched the surface on capabilities in a SxS over a Jeep or Tacoma. For instance that first hill was nothing for a SxS I could do way crazier hills leaving a vehicle no chance. They just have too much mass and have no torque off the line. And if you geared one to have the down low power, then it wouldn’t work on the highway. Jeeps and Tacomas are good for open area and slow rock crawling but are way behind in woods riding. They also demolish the ground. You could buy a cheap hd9 and still out do a Jeep or truck in the woods. Glad you’re enjoying your defender buddy Thanks for your input
This is the best video so far on the Jeep to Northstar comparison. I’d love to see a comparison video using trails out west with a little more rock crawling. Nothing too technical, just the stuff you might come upon on a rain washed out trail.
@@williammcgregor5106 I thought that this video would appeal to the masses. So far it hasn’t taken off like I expected. If it gets more interest, I’ll gladly do a more hard-core test. I’ve got a friend in town that build jeeps to maximum capability also.
We did sell our XP 1000 and bought a 2021 Jeep Rubicon. Biggest regret is where we live, there’s a lot of trails you can’t take a Jeep. So, we’re keeping the Jeep and now looking at the Defender.

Both are great and have a place. If you trail ride go with xpedition. It rides 10x times better than a ranger of any kind.

Polaris was like a brick and top heavy …super super Loud inside the cab …
Like a brick? Help me understand
It’s faster, nimbler and less weight by a long shot.
And my Honda Pioneer 520 that cost 9600 bucks will go many places your Expedition won't go.

Possibly I haven’t been to the rubicon trail.
But for a 1 my trail makes modified jeeps struggle.

Jeeps run around 65-70dbs much less than the xpedtion in the cab. Jeep wins that easy

What would be great was if Jeeps would have 4 wheel independant suspension.
Like a bronco? It’s way harder that way to get ground Clarence without widening the vehicle

Thank you for the input. I could see why as they tend to tear the ground much more. Also bigger causing them to knock more trees down along the way.
