A Call From 7 Heavens because that type of retaining ring resembles the split metal ring with beveled points thats pushed through the cartilage of the nose of pigs and locked there to prevent rooting & serve as a means of leading the animal.
Same here man. I actually just gave my milwaukee tools to my father in law for a early birthday present because I got all the new xtr tools and love them. Getting ready to add this impact to my collection. It would be AWESOME if kolbalt would compete with Milwaukee's stubby and gen 3 compact impact wrenches. I'm also going to be adding those to my list. I love kolbalt but I don't discriminate. If the tool does what it needs to when I need it to. I'll buy it. Milwaukee is definitely a quality tool.
I had one for work I work at a junkyard and kobalt impact would only get like half the lugs off. Now my Dewalt half inch on the other hand never fails even with extentions on taking torque away. Not hating on the kobalt just from experience the Dewalt has never let me down but for the price I guess it's not too bad
Two years later and it is still $269. While I was at Lowe’s, I checked their website for online deals. Ordered online to pickup at store and the $269 impact came with your option of one free gift; two extra batteries, xtr circular saw or xtr reciprocating saw. Plus another $5 off coupon. Tools are great, free tools are even better!
I just got the xtr circular saw, and its a complete animal! I continually cut 2 sheets of 3/4" birch ply for speaker cabinets and it cuts through 1 1/2" like butter! Very strong saw. Love it! Looks like the impact will be next!
The XTR impact driver is a beast, i got a 3/8 adapter and used it pull idler arm bracket bolts that were torqued to 150 ft lbs on a rusty old ford ripped them right out.
@@ItalianoDio- Old post, but Kobalt has an XTR impact driver too, and that's what I think he meant, since it wouldn't be much to brag about for an impact wrench rated at 1200 ft lbs to remove bolts torqued at 150 ft lbs. The impact driver is rated at 2400 in lbs, which is 200 ft lbs, and when equipped with a socket adapter, it's more than capable of removing bolts torqued at 150 ft pounds. I keep mine in my truck, and use it routinely to remove lug nuts torqued to those specs.
Have that too, but more importantly, it’s a fan-cooled charger that you could hear the fan loudly running! I like the way it’s built, very stiff & durable.
Same company makes them(im guessing you knew that though) id love to see skil come out with a bunch more 12v stuff give Milwaukee a good run, competition is always good for the consumer.😁
I've had the gen 1 for about a year now and really like it, have no complaints at all but I'm defiantly digging the new model! Might have to look into upgrading!
I have a few kobalt xtr tools, and 24 max they are a great value. The folding light is the best light I have ever used, I love how the impact and hammer drill feel, but I wish their triggers were more responsive in comparison to a Makita set I ended up with due to the recent free battery promotions. And the impact driver while more powerful than Makitas xdt14z is not as controllable nor is the lighting as good on the tool. But for the money, they are great, and I would have thought it was the best thing ever had I not gotten my makita set. Also, their multitool and compact reciprocating saw are fantastic never mind the value. VCG you should definitely review those you will be surprised how they compare if you haven't already.
I have the Makita xdt14z and the Makita xdt11z and I actually like the brushed 11z better. I bought the 14z for the mode that slows down at the end for things like screwing down like metal roofing which it is good for. However, in normal day to day use with wood, I like the 11z. I am building a deck with composite decking and preferred the 11z for the composite boards because the 14z is just to fast in top speed and too slow in second gear. While the T mode did not work out good either because the shavings would get in the way and after clearing them the 14z would start back out in full speed mode causing overdriving. I just have better control with the 11z and the driving speed is fast but not so fast it is hard to control in short burst like the 14z. I also have the OG Kobalt Impact displayed in this video and I am not that impressed with it's power since it struggled a little taking a lug nut off my wife's parent's car. I got it on sale for $169 though but I would prefer to get the Makita equivalent when funding allows. It is good but not for really tough larger bolts and nuts.
Vince is a damn good sales man, convinced me to buy the skil 12v stuff, very pleased(also have dewalt, porter cable, bosch, ridgid, ryobi and a few off name items all cordless. Yes its kind of addictive. Love me some tools.
So why do I spend my time watching your videos??? Because I get an honest review, honest opinions, honest demonstrations with real world problems and things that we run into out in the field-that’s why! AND most importantly…THANK YOU for putting a JACK STAND under your truck after you jacked it up!!!!!!!!! You’d be surprised the number of videos I see where people just use a hydraulic jack and then get up underneath it. They don’t realize it’s a simple rubber o-ring or rubber cup holding that hydraulic fluid in the cylinder keeping that jack holding their vehicle up in the air. It can fail! It can fail!!! Most times you don’t get a second chance. Good review, thanks for the video.👍
This new line of tools are very impressive! I'm still going with my milwaukee fuel 1/2 impact because I'm in the platform other than that kobalt is a great choice.
I have been looking for a impact wrench I was thinking about getting the Milwaukee but I think I might get the xtr, I also got one of you hats it’s super nice! SMASH THE LIKE BUTTON!
Most people don’t need 1200ft lbs like the kobalt xtr or 1400ft lbs like the Milwaukee high torque. Most people only need a mid torque impact. I do have multiple Milwaukee and 1 xtr, but I’m a farmer that works on his own equipment. Even working on our own equipment, we only use the heavy high torque’s when the mid torque’s don’t get it done. We have multiple Milwaukee and dewalt mid torque impacts and they’re the “go to”. much lighter, more compact, just more manageable.
I love this Kobalt XTR 1/2 impact, been using it the last few months. Quick note a 6 amp hr battery will fit in the case without needing the foam insert that comes with the impact. Its not like my Milwaukee 2767 but for the power to price ratio and the warranty I don't think it can be beat. 5yr warranty on the tool and 3 yrs on the battery. To compare harbor freights earthquake 1/2 impact only comes with a 90 day warranty and then you have to buy the extended warranty making the Earthquake significantly higher. Anyway another great video in the books.
Hey Hey Vince, I clicked on because of the KOBALT LINE?!! I'm hoping to get into the Kobalt line as a DIYer. Saving for a Combo kit 🙂☺️😊 l Love the Royal Blue. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and videos Rodney
I'm a tow truck driver . And usually 2-3 times per week I got a tire change call for some small cars up to a ford f350 size (i dont touch anything bigger) In a period of 3 years two kobalt high impact wrenches broke down on me.!! My body run mobile road assistance/ repair truck .And he using his tools very havy on daily basis.... %90 of his clients is semi trucks. He only using Milwaukee tools. Out of his experience this is only tools which is able to hold up really well to that massive obuse he put them through. And he did try them all , from chip walmart tools to ridgit and makita. So Wright now I'm looking for a good deal on Milwaukee high impact wrench.
You're tightening the lug nuts in the wrong order. That can cause warping or flexing and some of the nuts can become loose as you keep tightening the other ones. They have to be torqued in a cross pattern.
Kobalt is certainly upping their game! very impressed with the tools they have been rolling out. Now they just need to increase their battery selections
Again I'm sold on this tool.. saving my pennies to cop me one.. I bought a kobalt hammmer drill a few years back I use it a few times with the 2ah batt.. it kick ass!!.. I'm a Rigid man but not for long
A weird idea hit my head, I’d love to see Vince & Scotty Kilmer review together!! Man, I know Scotty talks about cars n stuff.. but, they would influence each other of their own knowledge/experiences, and people would enjoy the show 😄😄
I brought the older one a few months before the xtr was released. But I'm not complaining, I really like the older one so I wont be replacing anytime soon.

I own the old version and yes you can choose the speed its in the trigger, if you pull trigger all the way when you start that will be max speed however pulling the trigger to about half way when starting will give you a lower speed, and as obvious as that may seem it does state this in the instructions
I got the makita high torque impact wrench, witchbthos kolbalt looks to be word of warning on these high torque impact wrenches, the gears can bind and burn out and lock the tool up, i had my makita serviced, the rep said that its quite common in the makitas, i would assume I may apply to other brands as well. But for the extra cash the 3 speed one is the way to go, I use mine daily
I have the first generation 24v and I think it works great for me as I don't use and abuse mine everyday. If I had to use it daily I'd consider going to the xtr .
Picked up a Gen 1 on sale about a year ago for 170.00. Tool/4.0 battery/ charger and bag. Great tool for simple car maintenance. Gen 2 seems awesome but no need to go out and buy it, maybe the 5/6th gen lol
I have both of these, the XTR would NOT break the lug nuts loose on my 93 dodge dually. 5/8 studs with 1 1/8 nuts. Ended up breaking them lose with 3/4 rachet.
FYI - the Kobalt electric mowers are HALF off right now, but just the push ones at my location. The self propelled are like 15 percent off. $249 for the 80 volt push mower is awesome.
Also at mine. $250 push, $300 for self propelled. Greenworks self propelled $249 push $259, how that makes sense, I don’t know. I’ve been admiring these all summer but my bad experience with kobalt’s warranty department on a string trimmer has me leary. I hate to pass but a don’t need another peice of garbage after 5 minutes of use!
@@matthewpeters8790 I need self propelled because my property is hilly. If the propelled unit was half off I'd bite but it ain't, so I'm gonna pass too. But I like the idea of no gas, oil, carb cleaning, etc.
Hey Vince... would love to see a VS video for the dewalt high torque vs ridgid high torque vs kobalt xtr vs milwaukee high torque!... cheers from Canada :)
@VCG Construction Hog ring is also known as a friction ring.
Hog ring means fighting Diablo in chicken speak
I still have no idea WHY it’s called “Hog” ring! cuz hog reffed to a domesticated pig 🐖!! wait.. maybe because the nose shaped as a ring?

@VCG Construction the other word for a hog ring on a square drive impact is known as a friction ring
Thank you for your videos!
Yo Fellas! Sweet vid! Hope all is well and your having a great September!
I just bought a dewalt dcf899m1 1/2 impact wrench. I wish there was a comparison vs the kobalt 1/2.
I have kobalt hope it’s underrated
I have both of these, the XTR would NOT break the lug nuts loose on my 93 dodge dually. 5/8 studs with 1 1/8 nuts. Ended up breaking them lose with 3/4 rachet.
The XTR is a beast! Mine beats all the guys at works against all the guys at works snap on air guns!!! For less then 1/3rd the cost
Man wish they had the xtr before I bought my kit, woulda definitely spent the extra cash.
